[P4AU] Rise Kujikawa Gameplay Discussion

Yeah I noticed that too. Pretty excited! Also might be redundant I've been having trouble doing pressure midscreen. Usually I stagger or crossup and maybe add a 5C > 2C if I condition the opponent well enough, but I'm having trouble getting them to the corner unless I'm able to land note oki. -

Bufu still seems to be air unblockable. Saw A Bufu with the air unblockable sign in the Twitch footage.

Was Wail a good reversal anyways? Everytime I used it as one it was after Mind Charge and I knew I could get a hit from it. I agree it's an unnecessary nerf but I don't think it damages Liz all that much.

^ Elizabeth is probably buffed as a character but if you're going by tier lists then you should wait until we see how Liz shapes up against the others. These buffs may mean nothing in the long run if everyone else can beat her down with their changes.

Some stuff I noticed during a play with a good Shadow Labrys: - Midscreen you can't really reliably 2C into a detonated note for a safe blockstring because Asterius will take the 2C for Shabrys. In other words it goes into Shabrys' hitbox so Shabrys is pretty much safe to punish you for it. It seems okay in the corner. - 22A is harder to connect in the corner? - It's hard to use 5D since Asterius has decent tools to get to you, but it's not impossible. - Rise's AA isn't really that good imo? Kind of hard to get a Shabrys who's mixing her j.B and Asterius together. Any tips in batting her out of the air? I noticed that Arrow Rain semi-reliably catches her but that's usual during a super jump which applies to most characters. - I believe (not 100% sure) that Asterius will eat up Risette Fields meter? If true then I don't think it's a good idea to pop it out into neutral since it would only last for a short time. - Dunno if it's just me but 2C seems really good here. I found it to break Asteris very frequently when he was in the middle of doing something and it would occasionally swat Shabrys too. - Her DP is better in here since a hit from Asterius means you can cancel into Risette to make it safe and end enemy pressure. (One time I got cancelled into Field after Asterius knuckle trained me and I defeated this Shabrys who was above trying to j.B.) But abusing it is still a bad idea. I think this matchup is in Shabrys' favor. Maybe not by too much but Asterius takes up a lot of her properties and I just felt like Shabrys' tools were much better.

Thanatos pressure is okay here since you can semi easily bait Naoto's DP, with charge 2C and stuff. Garu isn't that good imo since she can shoot out of it but if you're on top of her I don't think she has a reliable counter that way. Not sure how useful Zio is? I think SB Zio is useful if you're able to react to her gunshots but I'm not sure if it's fast enough before it takes you out with a bullet. I don't think it's too difficult to pressure Naoto except you have to watch for her SB Roll and if you want to do 5C > Dash watch for her DP too. She's pretty reliably baitable but maybe this matchup is slightly in her favor. I think this is one of those momentum wins things.

From the opinion of a terribad scrub it's not her worst MU. Zio and Agi if used wisely takes out the dog's health and Ken's ranged attacks including his spear and all have punishable recovery. If you are under a blockstring I think you can roll for 50 sp through some of Koro's attacks and punish Ken as he uses an unsafe move. I never found Thanatos pressure to be that good here but you might be able to sabotage Koro's hitbox to get to Ken as 5C would move faster (I think)? Not sure how that would work. Awakening Bufu is eh as I've fought Ken's before and they don't really have any reason to jump in the air. Garu is eh too since Koro can attack you out of it I believe. (Not sure about that tbh.) I think Ken's MU for most characters just involves patience and good blocking. Luckily Koro can't do any overheads or sweeps or anything so you just have to be careful about Ken, who is kind of predictable IMO since after a j.B jump in all you have to do is crouch block again and watch out for throws and an occasional AoA. When I'm caught in a blockstring I tend to wait till I can roll and punish. I think 5B and 2B might be decent choices to get out of it as well but I'm not skilled enough to tell you if they work. (5B might work since it can plow through Koro and hit Ken as he's doing some dumb stuff and 2B for jump ins.)

For some reason it's really difficult for me to beat a good Junpei and idk why. Any general matchup tips?

So does that mean knife > teleport is safe for Minazuki then..? I feel like I can probably aim a Garu and get him (or air-grab him which I heard you can do but I can't react well enough for that)

Dia can be used as a safe combo ender after SB Bufu (214A+B) fullscreen but you can't combo into it

^ No Dia combos but you can safely heal after fullscreen Bufu (not A)
