  1. I tried that. Apparently, Line doesn't let anyone set up an account from PC, or from tablet; I need my phone to do it. So, I'll just have to wait until my phone problem is fixed.
  2. I've been having trouble downloading Line on my phone, so I haven't been able to make an account. I'll see if I can get it fixed tomorrow.
  3. So, what's going on with that chat group?
  4. I'm down for Jambats. I don't see why we need to wait for Revelator, though. We can do them right after Eltnumbats.
  5. In my experience, people get angry when you play the mirror match against them, especially if it's for the purpose of "teaching them how to play" their own character. They're generally going to learn more from watching offline play from people who do consistently well from tournaments than from online play anyway, which they'll likely do if they're serious about improving. Generally speaking, I find it best to offer help only if someone asks for it. Offering help that's not asked for can come across as kind of rude.
  6. Hello Squish, welcome to Dustloop and the AZ community! A lot of people here play UNIEL, so you're in luck for that. Maybe we can get an online session going at some point. It's been quite a while since I've seen anyone play Blitzkampf, though.
  7. Persona will have another chance next year, but as a side tournament. And Japanese players will enter. It just won't be on Evo's main stage, that's all. And we will get 2.0. The question is when. I am worried it could be quite a while yet. The "toxic player" stigma is a problem -- partly because there really are some difficult players, and also partly because there are some people who seem to assume their opponent is intentionally being an ass for any minor grievance. Also, there is definitely a problem in the air dasher community with supporting games. It seems like a combination of a lot of people who refuse to play more than one game at once, to a lot of people who only want to play the current game that's only out in Japan, to a lot of people who just like to complain about other people's games. In the end, I wish more people were willing to support other people's games.
  8. My biggest concern is conflict with the UAT monthlies. They're supposed to be starting up again in September, I think (I guess it's still somewhat up in the air?), and if I have to decide between which I'm going to attend, I'm sorry, but I'm probably going to pick UAT. That said, I do really like Xrd, think it's a good game, and want to support it. So, I certainly would like to attend. I can only make the trip to Phoenix so many times a month, though, so I may be forced to choose between the two if both are happening in the same month.
  9. They're only once a month, though, so that's still plenty of weekends available for casuals. I'd personally like to do the monthlies.
  10. lol Aguro I got bodied. Aguro perfected me twice (although not in a row). His game plan was so safe. While I'd much rather play Persona, I think it's probably time to let Blaz have a chance. Unless we can run both?
  11. GGs everyone! It was a lot of fun. I'm sorry I missed out on BBB, but it was the 2nd one, so I'm not that sorry. I am forever 2nd place. Not that that's a bad thing. Congrats to all the winners!
  12. I want to play it just for bite loop.
  13. GGs to everyone on Saturday! It was a fun tourney. Congrats to all the winners! Thanks to everyone who entered the +R side tournament and helped run it. Here's the bracket for anyone who wants to see it: http://challonge.com/bearellGGR. I'm pretty sure grand finals were actually not 3-2 and were 2-1 or 2-0 for HF -- we decided to only do best of 3 in the interest of time.
  14. GGs to everyone yesterday, and thanks to Kevin, Ryan, Dippy, and everyone who ran things and helped out. Congrats to Rath for winning Persona, and to HF for winning everything else. I tried to stop HF, I really did. It turns out the only one who could stop HF that day was the computer in Mario Kart. And yeah, I'd be down to run +R next time, but we'd need to come up with some sort of schedule. I think a main game and a side tournament is doable, but I don't think we have time for everything. So, if we run, say, DFC during Persona, +R during UNIEL, and then Melty during Xrd, I think that could work.
  15. Initial report I heard is that the throw break window is pretty small. So, I guess they're probably like the throw breaks from AC? I'm ok with that. Also, apparently Johnny has a guaranteed knockdown move in the air. Should make him considerably easier to play if true.
  16. 1. f.S is dangerous. I prefer to use moves that recover fast enough to block P Dandy Step. So, 2P, 2K, 5P, and 2S are all useful here. Also, 2S is still good, but don't abuse it. You can beat Slayer's 2H with Sol's 5H. 2. IB > 5K if he's close enough (and he usually should be, and you don't even need to IB if your timing is good). Back dash is a decent option as well. 3. I like to use j.P or sj.P. That said, constantly trying to beat Slayer's normals with Sol's is a risky business.
  17. I'm not a fan of the lack of controller assign.
  18. This is a good repository of various way to counter some of Sol's predictable strings, but unfortunately getting out of Sol's pressure isn't as simple as recognizing a pattern and applying a recommended solution. If you get too specific, you're never going to be able to keep track of it all in a real match, and you'll be lost if Sol throws you a curve ball. A good general defense is often a simple one, and that primarily comes down to spacing (which FD helps with), good blocking (especially instant blocking to gain frame advantage), and picking good times to get out, usually with FD jump (but sometimes with poke if the situation calls for it). Reversals should be used sparingly, and specific punishes are most typically applied if the Sol player is being predictable (ending everything with Bandit Revolver, for example). Specific punishes are certainly good to know, but they generally don't form the core of a defensive game plan. Also, you missed some important options. Some examples were not talking about the 6P + H option select against Sol's airdash mixup, not mentioning that if you IB bandit revolver while standing and throw it then you're safe to VV afterward (assuming you timed it correctly), and not considering how to deal with f.S pressure. I didn't see you talk about Wild Throw setups either (did I miss it?), which is a huge oversight. Sol is a mixup character, and his primary mixup is Wild Throw. His game plan isn't to build your guard gauge and then kill you, it's to get you to respect him and then Wild Throw you, and then to get you to try to disrespect Wild Throw and punish you for disrespecting him. That KZO video is old school, but I don't think it's a great example of how to get out of Sol's pressure. KZO was heavily reliant on DPs, many of which were extremely risky.
  19. Just to note, the reason I went to TGZ every time I could and paid the fee wasn't to play the game or bet on myself, it was to support the game, because I like Xrd. I think a lot of people have the mentality, "No one shows up to these tournaments, therefore there's no scene, therefore I have no reason to play the game," and I'd like to break that line of thinking. Of course, people would likely just replace it with other reasons not to play the game, and I realize that, but that doesn't change that I want to support the game and the scene. That said, I think you all are right about the venue. I wasn't too keen about getting kicked off the last GG setup so SF4 could play, or about KI getting streaming priority, but c'est la vie. I think the only way to change that is to have higher turnout, but people have valid reasons for not wanting to show up, so we're caught in a kind of catch-22.
  20. Glad to hear we're getting some more tournaments before Evo! I'll try to help out as best I can. A few thoughts: Dropping Persona makes sense, but that means we'd be dropping an Evo-sponsored game. Personally, I'd like to keep it, and I'm willing to run the brackets if we need someone to do so, assuming I can make every event. Also, there are a few more people who, last I checked, still play (Carlos and Ted), but you're right that the numbers are low. Another thing to consider is that we don't have to stream these events. Setting up and taking apart the streaming equipment is a lot of work, and I think it's more important to participate in tournaments for practice than to stream them. So, I'd actually prefer dropping the streaming and the extra hassle that entails than dropping any games. That said, the streaming has been a very nice resource and I appreciate all the effort it took. But I still feel like the games are more important than the stream. But maybe Persona is expendable? I'm curious what other people think.
  21. KenBot's throw game is on point. GGs to everyone yesterday, and grats again to HF for winning.
  22. This matchup isn't even that bad. Yukiko's options are pretty bad once you get in, bad enough that getting in once can mean that you won the entire round. 5C > dash is useful for getting in, especially if you got a counter hit, and making a correct air dash read puts Yukiko in a bad position. Once in, things get a lot easier, but watch for escape attempts like rolls, IB > throw, and DP. If you correctly bait a DP, make sure the counter-hit combo hurts. Basically, this match up is patience until you get in and then making a few correct reads and making them count.
  23. Thanks for your translation work. I guess we should actually add Sharon's list to the thread here: SHARON'S TIER LIST: S: Sol, Millia, Zato, Axl, Faust, Sin, Elphelt, I-no A: Ky, May, Chipp, Slayer, Bedman, Leo, Venom B: Ram C: Pot I personally think Pot's underrated, but he does have some bad matchups that aren't helping place him higher.
  24. That girl in the background is just like, "What the hell am I even looking at." https://www.facebook.com/events/684716351633904/ Doors open at 11:00 am and signups for Xrd close at 12:45.
  25. I'll be at the ranbat. I'd really like to see some more people show up to these -- the turnout has been pretty low. I'll also try to show up to UAT/Dippy's if anything's going on.
