Just to note, if Faust does 5S > Item, an immediate Fafnir is very difficult for him to deal with no matter the item he gets. That said, 5S > Scalpel Pull beats Fafnir, so be aware of that.

I'm not going to get excited until we're close to actually getting the update, which could take a while. I saw that. Looks fun. -

Looks like the Xrd update is out tomorrow in the US: https://twitter.com/aksysgames/status/596353031534301184. This might be the shortest ArcSys wait ever. -

GGs man! I wish I had played you more in casuals -- I could use some more Bedman and Leo experience. This was a really fun tournament, probably the most fun I've had at a tournament in a while. It seemed like every match went down the wire, and there were comebacks everywhere, and without any notable comeback mechanics to speak of (Hellfire doesn't really count as much). And congrats to HF for winning -- you were playing very strong in every set I saw. I guess you don't need Elphelt to win. =P I've also been really impressed lately with both Nam and Roch. They're both getting really hard to deal with -- Roch gave me trouble this time and the last time I played, and I saw both HF and Kyoku's matches against Nam go down to the wire. I think +R is a great game that never got a fair chance, but I'm still enjoying Xrd, and I'm still of the opinion that it's a good game. It does suck to lose your main character though -- I can't guarantee I'd have the same opinion if I couldn't play Sol. -
I've run into multiple Margaret players who love to use her two hit slash super while under pressure or as a reversal. While it's easy to slide and punish this on reaction, most good Margarets that I've fought only use it when they've got a burst (which makes it so they can combo off it into big damage if it connects, and gives them a way to escape a punish), so being able to punish her with the most single hit damage possible is important, and the move has a lot of recovery, so there are a lot options depending on how much meter you have. Here are a few punishes I came up with: No meter: Slide -> D Dragon Kick (I forget the exact damage, but it's not insignificant), 50 meter: Slide -> God Hand (Again, I forget the exact damage, but I think it's over 4000), 75 meter: SB Power Charge (dodges the entire super) -> D Dragon Kick = 9000 damage, 100 meter and final round: Instant kill, 125 meter: SB Power Charge, C God Hand = 9750 damage, instant death.

Yeah, UAT ended up being kind of dead. Melty was fun, though. And GGs to everyone yesterday! Portillo's is always good, and I got to play almost everything, but I missed out on +R. =/ I guess I wasn't expecting Brian to have to leave early. In other news, the Xrd update is looking good so far. The good characters look more fair but still strong, and a lot of the not-so-strong characters are looking strong as well. Elphelt is probably still going to be top, though; her stuff is really good. Sharon in particular is making Elphelt look really scary. Also, looks like Isa is playing Guilty Gear again, and his Sol is just as yolo as ever. -

I'd like to tell you that, but I left my setup in Tucson. =/ I'll try to get there around 4 as well. EDIT: Actually, I can bring my laptop. I've got a few fighting games on there, most notably Melty. -

Does "not reserved" mean that anyone can use the room, or does it mean that no one is supposed to use the room? If people are going to UAT, what time is everyone showing up? -

I'm in town this weekend, so I am! -
That's probably not the best time, and I think a lot of people who play the game got the Japanese version a while ago. I know I haven't played it online for some time -- since before Xrd was released. EDIT: I didn't notice that this is four days late. I think this sub-forum is a bit dead.

Just block it, usually. You can also do a preemptive Gun Flame from full screen and it will trade and you'll get a knockdown, but obviously this can't be done on reaction; it's more of a full-screen neutral tool. As for things that can be done on reaction, I wouldn't rely on 6P, Grand Viper, or VV. A little more reliable option is Blitz Shield, which can help close the spacing gap.

The TGZ ranbat is on the 28th, so we'll at least still have something for Guilty Gear on that day. -

GGs everyone! Thanks to Ryan and everyone who helped out for running the event, and congrats to the winners (Ryan, HF, and Ean). Seems like the snacks were a hit; I'll try to bring some next time, too. -

I am pretty much always down for any of the GGXX games, and I like Current Code a lot, so if there are casuals or tournaments for either series, I'll do my best show up and support them. I've even been practicing my F-Sion combos! I'm still going to drop them, though. I'm also someone who just enjoys entering tournaments, so I really appreciate the work that goes into these events. I try to help out where I can, but if there's more I could be doing, feel free to ask. I definitely agree that the "new game is out, can't play old games" mentality is lame. I try to only avoid playing games because I either don't like them or I just don't have the time to learn them, not because they're old. -

Yeah, I'm sure. You've got level 5 Stun Edge, but I've got Fire Bunker. Plus, Baiken was a lot more fun in Slash. -

If we're going to play old GG games, why play shitty ones? Let's do Slash or +R. -
There's time to do a microdash before the 6H.

It looks pretty spacing dependent. Time will tell how useful it is, but I'm still skeptical. Get hype. EDIT: Speaking of damage, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG0NE9Y_jgU#t=110. Oh, and the one right after it as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG0NE9Y_jgU#t=141. -

GGs to everyone yesterday! I had a lot of fun. Congrats to HF for winning UNIEL and to Marvin for winning Xrd. Thanks to Rath for setting everything up and running it, and to anyone else who helped run it. You're catching up quickly, just as expected. I need to keep working to make sure you don't pass me. =P NO. NO NO NO NO NO. Unless you mean really short throw break windows (like 1-2 frames), which are fine. But anything longer than that: NO. You make it sound so bad, but the fact is that it was a really close match. You would have won if not for a mistake or two at the end. -
I find sweep to be really good against her. Also, Sol's 5S(f) shuts down a lot of what she does simply because it's faster than her stuff at a similar range. If you block the attack that flashes green, it's hard for her to stop Sol from using 5S(f) or 2D after.

GF can catch Alpha Blade if you're really sure he's going to do it, but, yeah, it should be used very sparingly without YRC. Sol's j.H is a great move for controlling space in this match. It can really mess with teleports. My main normals in neutral in this game are j.P, j.H, and 2S. Also, when you get cornered, be careful about trying to sweep under his moves. It's not hard for him to out-range Sol's 2D, as his own 2D hits from farther away and is pretty fast.
