[Xrd] Sol Badguy Okizeme/Mixups/Gimmicks Thread (Updated 02/14/2015)
Orrax replied to VR-Raiden's topic in Sol Badguy
1. j.H is the best, but a few characters can go under it. 2. I remember hearing that j.H > air dash mix-up isn't safe if you go for the mix-up, but I haven't tested. -

An Evo with Guilty Gear as a main event? I may actually go this year. -
He's ok. He does good damage still, but some of his strong moves got nerfed (e.g. j.H). His normals are nonetheless good overall, and most people (myself included) seem to think he's viable.

Hey, just wanted to say I'm glad you could make it out! I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to play you guys -- let alone properly introduce myself -- but it seemed like you got to play Marvin and Ted a fair amount. Hopefully I'll see you at some more events in the future. -
My understanding is that in +R negative edge is not in the arcade version but is in the console version. I haven't heard anything about the older games.

I'm not sure how many people playing anime games will be there -- it'll most likely be the Street Fighter crowd, a bunch of Smash players, and maybe me and maybe Loli Bacon (Ted). If I'm there, I'll bring a setup with Xrd, P4U, and UNIEL (I will have BBCP as well, but... honestly, I'm pretty much done with that game). There will likely be extra Xrd setups, as the Street Fighter people have been playing it. That said, I haven't seen any of the Street Fighter players post on Facebook about casuals at Maker House this Thursday yet, so I can't guarantee they'll be there. They usually are there, though. -

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can usually make anytime on Saturday, or no time at all -- it really just depends on how much work I have to do. I'm guessing anytime on a Saturday will work for me this month. -

I think it was cancelled due to too few entrants. -

I'll try to be there around 1, and I'll be bringing a setup. -

Hey there. There are a few of us in Tucson who play "anime" fighters: Rei-Inari, Loli Bacon, and me. Some of the Street Fighter crowd have picked up Xrd, and a few of them also play Persona. There are weekly casuals at Maker House on Thursdays. But H-F is in Phoenix! -
Very nice. Those were some of the sickest Sol combos I've seen yet.

Well, it is Chipp, I guess. It's certainly not the first time something similar has happened in Guilty Gear. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgvIQrPSgFE#t=61 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AQZlhzrCnE#t=238 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH0hZnLG6YE#t=319 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_aJ1fgGCLU#t=289 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIEZSmPDdDs#t=181 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSpOUZ3JMtM#t=69. But usually it doesn't look quite so simple. -
A question for the PS4 players: When you exclude PS3 players and just play against other PS4 players only, is the netcode still worse after the patch? I'm just curious if the patch has introduced some discrepancies between then PS3 and PS4 versions.

I'm definitely focusing on Xrd and devoting most of my time to that, but I'm still up for some UNIEL if you want to play. I tried DFC for the first time recently. The game seems fun. Not necessarily good, but fun. And I see what people mean when they say the game is easy. I think the last time I learned a character's combos this fast was the first Big Bang Beat. -
Good to know, thanks.

4f is pretty close to unplayable. It's certainly not something to take seriously. I feel like the netplay is inconsistent, so I'm wondering if anyone's noticed anything in regard to stages and/or settings that affect things. I had a solid 2f delay against someone yesterday when we were playing on Dragonica Falls and no one was spectating. I felt like frame rate tended to go up if others were spectating and if mics were being used. Not sure about stages, yet, since I haven't had a chance to play that much. Anyone noticed if any stages lag or not?

Be sure to tap the button, not press it. Xrd should accept negative edged inputs, similar to older GGXX games (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), so by tapping a button, you give yourself a two-frame window instead of a 1-frame window. Moreover, if you're using a character with a DP for two buttons (e.g. Sol's S VV and H VV), you can input 623 [H] ]S[ ]H[ (I hope that notation is right for holding and then releasing a button) and give yourself a 4-frame window, two for pressing the two buttons and then two for releasing them. EDIT: According to king of heart's post below, Xrd does not accept negative edge. So, you'll either have to double tap the button or input, with Sol, S then H together to make the window longer.

A lot of those combos took 50 or 100 meter, so I think his average damage is still not that great -- unless, as you mention, he starts with 6H. -

Leo looks kind of slow from what I saw. Those sorts of characters can seem really good at first, then you get used to their stuff and realize a bunch it's reactable. His projectile YRC does look really strong, but I think he may have trouble with people jumping out. Only time will tell. And he's not even out yet. For all we know, ArcSys could make a few last minute tweaks that may change things. -

For future reference, here is a good place to ask such questions: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/18-guilty-gear-faq-thread-ask-your-questions-here/page-62. As for your questions: Everyone has the same health. If I'm mashing, I usually alternate P and K and hold back to get FD. I'm not sure of the frame count, but it's not very long. I assume you mean 6P. For most characters, 6P is an anti-air and has upper-body invulnerability, so there are plenty of good times to use it in matches (although this is character specific). Up-forward, then H. But Ky usually does j.S > jc > j.S > j.H > Vapor Thrust In older games, it was a 2-frame window per button, since you can negative edge inputs. I'm not sure about Xrd yet, but it should be at least 2 frames (there could be some buffer I don't know about). -

Not exactly. You have to time it. That said, if you want to mash, it's generally a good idea to mash so you immediately get FD after your tech. -
