YES! My womanly intuition was right! .... Anyway >_> I don't seem to have as much of a problem now. I'm airthrowing him out of Teleports (even FRC'd ones) and corner pressure, so I'm happy. Thanks!
-
:p You were that fierce Millia player, right? I wanted to get in a match against you. Then again, I wanted to get in a match against everyone because I never get to play their characters. I've never played a Millia, but I have a STRONG feeling I'd get raped. Hardcore. Not sure why, just a feeling.

Probably. I was the one wearing the pink Hello Kitty hoodie and kitty ears (lolol).

Thanks for clarifying. I think I've learned more about my character in the past week or two than I have in the two months prior X-X'. Back at West Toast X (excluding the fact that I played terribly), my ultimate combo consisted of 5k/c.S-Gatling-KSMH-RC-j.D-Othershit (At that point I thought going into Tragedy after j.D was the greatest thing ever. God was I wrong ). Since then I've learned the default Starship FRC combo (Mainly I started using Starship for Okizeme, which has helped immensely), j.D-6S-air Combo, starting to learn air throws & Idou stuff (Which I never really applied for some reason), tested gatlings on every character (IE being able to connect two 6P's on characters like Slayer/Testament, 6S going over a lot of characters' heads (which I already knew but I now know the individuals) but being able to connect on Chipp in short gatlings for some reason, blah blah blah), realized you can JI KSMH to get a full air combo out of the RC on every character (as opposed to j.D), etc. etc... Eh, anyways. Thanks everyone for the info. I'm having a blast improving my game ^_^

By active I assume you mean while setting it, calling it back, or roger crap? If so, that helps a lot ^_^' I never really thought about that. EDIT: Oh, and we probably won't be able to make it to FR due to money issues, so sadly I don't think we'd be able to meet up and play, Jais :8/: If EVO ends up hosting GG, you need to come out and we'll play there :D

Ok, thank you My bf, a Chipp player, has recently got into air throwing like a fake ninja druggie. As such, I've been trying to air throw a lot more and it seems very hard . I usually end up eating a j.D/j.HS or setting the yo-yo in a VERY undesirable fashion (AKA, when he's right ontop of me midair). Lols. Ohwell, practice makes perfect.
-
Ok, thanks for the advice Any specifics on what you should do if the yo-yo isn't already set? (IE, 7set into Idou away, or into Roger Get, 6/9/(3?) set into pressure?? - etc.) And also, does the yo-yo already need to be set in order to tech-trap, or do you have enough time to set it after the combo and continue into the trap?
-
Sorry if this has been addressed, but I'm curious about something. Almost every combo that ends in j.S.j2S can also tack on Starship to add ~15-20 damage (usually) to almost all characters. Is it not listed due to some kind of punishability that I'm not seeing, or is it simply preference on whether to starship, HS_S#, or Idou stuff?

I know Ruu's been on a 70+ something win streak in casuals, so Bridget could go 10-0, whatever that means. Also, you have to take into account that tier lists apply when players are perfectly matched according to their skill level. I know nothing of the Jam-OS matchup, but if Order-Sol does have a disadvantage, and you, as Order-Sol, played someone of equal skill playing Jam (And you both played the matchup normally; no kinky stuff), the Jam would most likely win. Point being, there's nothing to wonder about. You simply were a better player than the Jam, whether in playing skill or knowledge of the matchup or other various factors. :P

West Toast X (2/16-2/17) SoCal Results/Videos Thread
SugataDesigns replied to Hellmonkey's topic in Archive
Just one quick fix - contradiction. Trevor lost to Sonic, but not the other way around. We think Sonic lost to DW. Also, optional putting of (BR) by River and (CH) by Trevor, but not really important. And I'm pretty sure Juice played Slayer. Thanks -
^-----DUMB ADVICE D: (dunno what I was thinking). Well, the first paragraph at least. Do -NOT- 6S his walljump, it's too fast and at too sharp of an angle. I'd mainly block or just get out of the way. ;_;
-
I play a Chipp every day, and I have no problems with 6P or f.s To offer real advice though, when he dives off of the wall you should use 6S as he's in counter-hit state during the move. You could probably find something else to use as well, but if you're mid-distance it'll hit him right in the face. Other than that, just don't starship it xP If you're having problems beating it out, just jump out of the way. That, or you could just 3P him after he lands as your butt beats out his sweep. But yeah, I don't recommend using starship by itself vs. Chipp most of the time as he's fast enough to punish the whiff from pretty much anywhere. Just block his strings and throw in mid-range pokes when you can. You could 6P his IAD's in but it clashes with his j.HS so it's not really safe. But yeah, just be patient and only attack when you have an opening, as any B&B will rape his lifebar. If you manage to land Killing Machine, it'll pretty much be over. Also, I use Maintenance a lot in this match-up to counter non-FRC'd teleports or IAD's.

1) The match-up layout itself is fine, it's just that a sub-forum would be much more organized. It'd be so much nicer if you could open up the sub-forum and easily find the matchup you're looking for as opposed to fingering (tee hee) through this one thread. Also, as I said in site suggestions, I feel it'll increase awareness of match-ups not normally discussed (IE (random example): Bridget Vs. Axl: 0 posts "Oh, I should provide info on dat shiz"), hence increasing our base of knowledge. 2) I feel it's a standard that should be set. If we were talking about a sub-forum like Slayer's "old games" one, then I'd say fad. But a match-ups sub-forum IMO is essential to having a very proficient and easy-to-navigate character forum. I hope you consider, Jais ~ EDIT: If the mindless work would bother you, I could help organize all of the match-up info for you.
-
Can we get a match-ups subforum? :8/: Considering we have/had the bestest format, I think we should also have the bestest character forum in general
-
You should fly out, Jais :p And Blitz; yes 3 Bridgets? We should try to start a character tournament.
-
That'd be great fun. Sadly I'm NorCal but maybe we could meet up sometime. Are you going to West Toast X?

I agree with what I think you are saying (It's hard and not necessarily safe for Bridget to gain momentum and apply pressure - tell me if you're saying otherwise). I just feel that his quick pokes and great zoning capabilities give him a unique opportunity. But maybe I'm just using the wrong word here and I'm merely referring to his ability to control space, and not lockdown. I just think that with momentum (which I understand is hard to attain) Bridget can apply constant pressure between himself and his yo-yo. What I'm trying to say is that even though it's harder for Bridget to get into a situation where he's on the offensive, I think he has a higher potential for maintaining the offensive due to his ability to control space so well. As for the tier, I could have worded my opinion better. I believe he belongs where he is on the tier list. I just believe that the gap between a bad Bridget player and a good Bridget player is larger than that between a bad, say, Sol/Ky player and a good Sol/Ky player. Sorry for my mess of a message :P
-
Actually, this was very helpful. Thank you. I was just in training messing with gatling-FB glitch combos and I've gotta say; I love Bridget IMHO he's underrated as a character in higher levels of play. Seems like he'd have crazy good lock down & pressure with consistent mastery. EDIT: I wanna get in on this Bridget team Maybe I could be a backup? :p
-
If you're whiffing 6S or sets/callbacks, then maybe he has bad recovery, I'm not sure what you mean about slow startups x-x' Bridget has some of the fastest pokes in the game. Maybe I just don't have enough knowledge of other characters?
-
Bridget's slow? Did I miss something?
-
Thank you Jais ^_^ In the Modesto (CA) tournament yesterday, I was successfully inputting the Roget Get glitch AND landing it right on them :p I was proud because I'm still in the learning stages and hadn't really comboed with the glitch before the tourney. Oh, and I got 5th place and was told I might be the best Bridget in CA ~~ <3 :shy: But anyways, I finally got an HRAP (my first stick) today. It helps so much with the glitch. I can do most stuff pretty fine, though i can't IAD for crap, and I'm in the air most of the time :8/: so...regardless, I just got it today so I just need to keep practicing. Anyways, sorry for the happy-rant. Back to the point, thanks for the info Jais :p Also to 722, though I was talking about glitching into the FB's, not buffering into them.

I can't speak for everyone, but from my own experience.. Bridget is a reasonably tough character to use if you're a beginner to guilty gear and perhaps fighting games in general. Balancing his pokes and his yo-yo usage may take a little getting use to if you haven't played other zoning characters. I've only been playing GG for 2 months, and have been maining Bridget that entire time (excluding a small switch to Zappa but I quickly made him my secondary instead). Bridget can be played in many styles depending on who you're playing against and how used that person is to playing against him. In general, if the opponent isn't used to fighting Bridget, you can do anything from going all-out offensive to turtling. If they're used to fighting him, you can still be offensive, but it requires a lot more caution. Bridget's pokes have a very high priority, which greatly increases his zoning ability. However, it can also be used to an offensive advantage if you are careful to not leave an opening. Despite what some others have said, I believe Bridget has a reasonably high damage potential when he uses Roger. The main problem is the risk/reward factor, and there's a lot more risk than there is reward. That doesn't mean his damage sucks, though. To put it simply, he's a zoning character that has, in my opinion, a unique offensive potential due to his high priority.

I own only the Wii version and I've gotten the yo-yo to cancel into everything but the FB's. I guess the only advice I can give is to make sure your directional input is fully accurate xP.

Am I the only one who likes the fact that Bridget is low-tier? Granted, I only started ~2 months ago, so I never played the higher-ranked Bridget of previous Guilty Gear games (therefore having nostalgia), but.. Being at a disadvantage is what makes him so fun! It's like a verywellpulledofftrannywithananthropomorphicteddybearyoyoDavid vs. Goliath. Then again, playing low tier characters is my own preference, so learning Bridget was one was just icing on thecakehegoldburstsoutofnaked. :o </pointless sugar-inspired post>
