  1. This thread has "rules" because people were a little too vocal about their frustration on CF now having a dub. And over a year later, I feel that's still a valid one. CTB having a dub is nice but really all that benefits from is the UNIB characters. Everyone else we already know what they're like in-battle so the only new thing will be character interactions and story mode. Hopefully this is a sign of them dubbing a future version of CF, because that's now the odd one out.
  2. Seriously. I'm glad that CTB got a dub but it's a small comfort when CF's the one people really wanted it for.
  3. Grr, why did they randomly push back the Material Collection date? And yeah, I have no idea how Mai got that much cover real estate and Izanami is nowhere to be seen.
  4. Welp, this game went from a day one buy to PlayStation Store flash sale status with this recent news. No dub either, fricking figures. No amount of effort in recreating some sprites can justify the copious amounts of DLC from a game that still isn’t coming out for about half a year. Worst of all is that they’re apparently withholding the DLC character info until EVO. Right, because that totally rejuvenated Central Fiction. Hope dataminers crack that wide open and force them to say sooner. This didn’t work years ago with SF x T and idk why ASW thinks a little recent success means they can take risks like this. Hopefully they’re just putting all this out there to see if anyone will bite, because at the current point in time I have no idea who this game is supposed to appeal to. Mori said a “Western audience”, guess that translates to loads of DLC and eSports appeal, ugh. I’m glad I got a co-sign from one of my favorite voice actors ever the other day (Mark Hamill), because this news would’ve probably killed my vibe. On the bright side, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is weeks away...
  5. Did any of you rippers happen to run across a higher resolution image of these full body artworks of Izanami? I got the first one from the promotional trailer for act 2 and was wondering if they used it anywhere in the game where it could be ripped.
  6. I remember seeing this full-body shot of Izanami in a Famitsu scan back before the game came out. I was curious if any of the rip genies here spotted a higher quality version of this anywhere in the game?
  7. Ah, you're a gentleman and a scholar. I'll be here finishing up Persona 4 Golden in the meantime, looking forward to it.
  8. Excellent stuff, good Sir. But I have a request, because I'm on a Mac and my options are likely limited for color swaps. If there's any way you can get Izanami's default palette for her sprites then I'll treat it as a late Christmas present. Not sure how long it might take, but I hope you can see what you can do, thanks.
  9. Well, over a month later and the verdict is in. The story mode just isn't as compelling without a dub. No one is really feeling like talking about it because there's not much to discuss. Hope they already are making plans for an Extend version with a full English track, because it's been quite an underwhelming experience without it.
  10. The only issue with localization is if they censor things 4Kids style. When BlazBlue kept in Rachel calling Ragna a pedophile in CS, I knew this series wasn't trying to go down that route. Arguing localization as a reason against a dub is dumb because those references will make it in whether or not they're voiced. Try listening to a Japanese song with English lyrics. Some things are obviously gonna be changed to fit the timing and pacing, but that doesn't mean that the song itself is utterly misinterpreted as a result; that's a borderline fearmongering tactic. It also doesn't mean that people who want a dub hate the Japanese voice performances, I like quite a few actually. But like listening to Japanese music, I can only take it at face value if I can't understand what is fully being said. Even if I was fluent, it would still be no substitute for the English voices, and that is the important takeaway that anti-dub people need to understand. It's not hating the inclusion of one thing; it's hating the lack of the other.
  11. Ugh, this is what I hate about getting news from people; they interpret it the way they want it to happen, not necessarily the way it actually went down. Hopefully the fake will get separated from the real after people go through the English translation. I'm on #nodubnobuy so I wouldn't be able to do it myself, even if I wanted to. What were some of the other fake spoilers that were said?
  12. XBlaze had a few mistranslations but at least those were fixed quickly, and the dub often corrected the written dialogue in areas where it was wrong, and even vice versa. I think the strategy for the dub if it were to happen is to see how many people buy it up front, then offer the dub as paid DLC down the road to squeeze some money out of the #nodubnobuy people. Only problem here is that by that point it might be too late. Hell, even now it feels like the game is already dead, and considering that it was released early to try and circumvent that, it makes the situation even more frustrating.
  13. My thing is, Noel is unapologetically nice, so it makes sense to consider that she's Saya's "good" half. This would normally lead to the conclusion that Izanami is Saya's "dark side", at least the part that interacts with Ragna/Jin. But is there anything indicating that it's a mutual relationship like Hazama/Terumi, or is Izzy just acting on all those negative emotions from Saya? I feel there are reasons to suspect one or the other, namely because while Izzy makes it clear at times that her own motivations are separate from Saya, there are some times where it sounds like its Saya talking directly, namely at the end of CP when she questions if Ragna is trying to kill them because he hates her. Either way, the payoff for this was incredible, even though I don't like the idea of Noel having an identity crisis again. Does she respond to either name after the merge?
  14. Yeah, that scene was pretty hard to watch; even though she was totally asking for it and Saya would be okay, Izzy was freaking out in a fairly human way; reminds me of how much Voldemort was all DIE DIE DIE; then he got a taste and suddenly it wasn't so much fun anymore. I'm just glad Ragna was also able to save her some in some form as a result, and also managed to to give her a much more stable body through Noel. One thing I am wondering however, is whether or not Saya's soul was actually was in any cooperation with Izanami the entire time, like how Hazama and Terumi are in a mutual agreement. Saying things about how she won't be able to saved by Ragna and if he really hates her, how she looks down on Noel and the Murakumos or her own contempt towards Jin all sound a bit more personal than how she normally goes about doing things throughout the series, and makes me think that there really was a part of Saya that thought what Izzy was doing was right.
  15. Good point, I remember being so confused when Izanami was said to be Amaterasu's drive; especially when she has a gameplay drive of her own. Jeez, guess naming isn't Mori's strong suit.
