reaVer what DAAs are basically a universal get out of pressure free button and that's pretty cool with any character, even Axl with his awful, awful DAA which at least works pretty cool v. Eddie because it's invincible forever. Meanwhile, uh, I don't think there's any character you can mindlessly FD out of, at least not if they get you in the corner. And there's some where FD is almost useless. Also throws exist? Also I'm pretty sure there's lots of moves people wouldn't use if they didn't knock down. I'm sure fewer people would use Slayer if he did Bridget damage either, and oh man, people would IK all the time if it was fully invincible unblockable undodgeable fullscreen. That statement is just so meaningless. I mean I get what you're trying to say with it but it just doesn't work

I was gonna get a set of Wii fighting sticks to use for this game, but that order was delayed and I'll be getting TvC before the sticks. For the time in between, what's a good place to get a PS2 to GC adapter, or even a USB to GC adapter?

On the subject of throw combos, it's a character-specific thing. Bridget is so floaty that it's very easy to whiff H Benten in the standard KD throw followup, and Bridget is also the sort of character that you definitely want to go for knockdown on instead of punishing their air recovery because Bridget is extremely mobile and can probably avoid anything you go for. Unlike most characters, even if you set up a tech throw, Bridget can go through it thanks to Starship. Because Bridget has very few Oki options against Axl, going for KD is very safe and generally recommended. If you feel like you really need that extra damage or tension, then go for it, but throw > rensen is going to get you a good KD and does at least alright damage, and in a matchup like this that outweighs pure damage by a lot, especially when it's not even that much more damage.

I just wish Paradigm weren't so the worst character by such a wide margin, he's so cool and I love playing as him but he just can't win a fight against another player character, I mean he can't even run away given his lack of an air dash, he really just has to never run in to the opponent without backup -

Well there's your problem <_< If you played on stick you could just mash and it would work. If they're not using the same, button, though, you could do it faster, and then you won't have that awesome timing aid.

Er, what? Whiffed benten is the easiest FRC in the game. I didn't even have to learn it, I was immediately capable of doing it the instant I first tried. Just press slash and then immediately mash your three preferred buttons...

Yeah, Ky has pretty sweet lots of things. As Paradigm, against Ky, I always make sure I have Aegis Field purchased relatively early just to combat that crap, when against every other character I don't even bother with that move. -

It's not like Paradigm can't fight in melee, it's just that he can't fight in melee alone. He has all the same defensive options as everyone else, and if he's with a group of servants it's not too hard to utilize the fact that his guys are just better than the opponent's guys. Paradigm acts as an excellent support unit due to his rock drop attack being so solid and not costing tension, and even though he can't combo, his basic l.XXX has good priority. It's just, you know. If Paradigm is the only guy you have fighting the enemy master you're basically going to get slaughtered. But even having a Gate Gunner out helps mitigate that. By the way Gate Gunner is a ridiculously awesome skill and I cannot see a reason for Paradigm's opening Organ use not to be to send out three sets of Geroppa and buy Gate Gunner, or two sets of Geroppa, a set of Bower, and Gate Gunner. -
1. Backdashes, especially Slayer and his wacky BDC stuff 2. Dragon punches, especially Chipp's with 25% tension to FRC and be safe 3. Millia's roll, similar above-feet invuln stuff such as Slayer's BBU 4. Wakeup supers from quite a bit of the cast 5. Baiken just up and blocking and preparing to guard cancel. I guess this one doesn't really count, but it so does.

Oh, it's just executionally difficult. If they want bragging rights they should be playing Venom. He's ACTUALLY hard.

First FRC was Rensen FRC, and that took me like 2-3 months to learn. But, first FRC is always the hardest... Subsequent ones haven't been too difficult to get down. No more than a week.
-
It basically is terrible to get hit by that DAA because if you get hit by his DAA then he has you in his pressure. And... You don't want to be in Venom's pressure. It's generally okay to put strings in your pressure against venom because his options to get out of pressure are like... Jumping out. He's really bad at poking out, especially against a character with large hitboxes like Axl. It's almost better for you to have him try to get out because it means resets and either very good damage or him losing the tension he built up. You don't want to let him get out of pressure free by any means, but Venom's DAA is definitely worth worrying about.
-
Venom may have a few things that start up fast, but you have better hitboxes and he has no invulnerability on anything. As long as you bait his dead angle and aren't predictable enough to get slashbacked his only option to get out of pressure is to faultless out, but Axl has ways to get around people doing that. If you're having trouble keeping pressure on Venom, then you really just need to get better at pressure in general, because your basic stuff will work on him. He really doesn't have any options. It's getting pressure in the first place that's the hard part.

Why would it matter? Isn't 8D air unblockable? -
Blade, the word you were looking for during much of that was imply, not infer. Weirdly, you did actually use infer correctly one time.

In all fairness Ogawa hasn't exactly been relevant news in quite awhile. Though on the other hand he's still way better than most/all of the people here. But on the other other hand that still doesn't make his opinion flawless.

Of course, though there's no reason to delay it when not actually crossing them up, which is always fun times since it stifles both the "I'll block that the other way" reaction and the "I'll air throw that" reaction.

So I saw the Lime-Key vs Shuuto fight a few minutes ago - Spark has the Tougeki '08 DVD. Basically, Lime-Key knows exactly what he's doing and keeps it at least fairly close by playing carefully, and Shuuto is nervous as hell and keeps failing his input. Clearly not good times for Shuuto... A few times I shouted at the screen that he should've Housou'd when he just ate a hit he could've done something about, and in the final game of 3 Shuuto has the game in the bag after landing a hit into Rensen FRC into... Dropping the combo. So basically, Anji players, if you want a guaranteed victory against Axl, induce Centipede's Dilemma.

Well, there's... His unblock and loop are pretty set in stone, right? Right? -
It's true, I'm just trying to figure out random ways to go about things, but I mean in general I've never seen anyone try Kokuu crossup at all after Bomber loop, even though Sensageki pulls them away enough for it to be possible.
