We have competitive communities for pretty much all the mainstream games. As well as an awesome arcade. Tourneys are held on an almost bi-monthly basis, so the community is pretty much rocking. What games do you play?

My xmas bonus is over 9000!!! Since so many programmers are taking weeks off during holidays I offered to stay back and be their backup so I got a little extra. Hehehe.

It's always mad hype when G3 reaches, I haven't seen you guys in forever... *brofist* Likewise, it's inaccurate to use your own circumstance and compare it against my 10 years of growing this community. Everyone who's been here long enough agrees with my view. We could all go on and give plenty of examples, but I couldn't care less about convincing you. In my younger years in the community, I had to bus 3 hours each way just to play for 2 hours, then bus back home for another 3 hours. After repeating this for years, I became one of the best. People like you and me are rare. I'm going to formally host another gety tourney near the end of January for CS2 & GG. Let's see how many people are talk and who can back their shit up.

As much as I respect your initiative to come out, you are somewhat ignorant. You speak like this is the first tournament that ever occurred. In fact, every previous tournament was advertised on SRK, DLOOP (outside of this thread), TZ, and at gety. I did not see you, nor any other new players at the previous tourneys. So I'll tell you what's total bullshit. What's total bullshit is you telling me that if I advertised this tourney, I would see more players. We had one tournament where I spent $30 of my own money to print a laminated huge poster and post it on the gety door, and 2 smaller prints on the actual BBCS cabinet. If I recall correctly, I gained a total of 0 new players for that tourney. All the respect to you, brother. I've seen you at gety a few times since BBCS came out (November 2009). It has since been 13 months, and I haven't seen you say hi to anyone. It's really your choice if you want to get to know us. All you have to do is say "Hi, I'm Fugu". You're under the assumption that our "tight-knit community" has always been like this, which is blatantly wrong. Since BBCS came out, we took several people in and trained them - Roldy, Leo, Akuun, Poiyo, the list can go on. All they had to do is say hi and get involved in the community. Personally I only take interest in people who I see talent in, but other guys like Kousaka/Leo are one of the most social dudes you'll ever meet. For the record, over the last 5 times, you have not beaten everyone (minus pui) in at least one match. And any accomplishment you make now means moot, because it's been a month since we all dropped interest in BB. You also have a very limited perception. Do you think this community existed since the beginning of time? No. This community was built from nothing, by K2, DarkDragon, and myself. If you can't make it to another community, then make your own. Lucky for you though, there already is a small community in Sauga - G3. Of course you wouldn't ever have figured this out if you didn't socialize here. Thanks man. I'm glad you can understand my frustration with the community, you've been with us all this time after all. Tourneys collaborated with SRK have never ever brought new players to the mix. The truth is, deep down, you don't have any desire to get better. We have 2 great robo-ky players here (Zeero and Jabir), I've not seen you ask for advice even once. But yeah, you're not going enough, I think I've only seen you 3 times total. Btw, gety does not magically make you better, we're not the magic pill. You need the desire, you need to get involved, you need to spend time on getting better.

The truth is it's not worth it for us to go to downtown, bring all our own equipment, and pay venue fee just so we can play each other. There is absolutely no incentive, zero. At the end of the day, this is the harsh cold truth. - Your impression of the BB/GG community is correct. The top players have been the same for the past 10 years. This will not change anytime in the near future. You will not be one of the people to take out our top players (because I've heard that before and you gave up, just like every other scrub). This is not SF4 where some random scrubs can just show up and ultra us to win. We will continue to troll and troll until players step up and force us to play seriously. I also pray that some of the new players excel and beat us to a pulp. The top players are all dying for this. Please, PLEASE step the fuck up, all of you. - Whatever scrubs asked you what's going on with the BB tourney at TFNS, you can tell them to come to gety. When we host a tourney at gety, we see nobody except the gety regulars. We don't see a point in travelling downtown to host a tournament for a few extra scrubs that we will never see again. My definition of a community member is someone who actively participates in community events, somebody who goes out of their own way to be recognized as part of the community. When we have to go to THEIR AREA so that they can prove themself, yeah, that shit ain't gonna happen. In the world I grew up, you go where the competition is if you want to prove something, you don't wait for it to come to you. These guys who asked you about the BB tourney are not community members, they are scrubs who have 0% chance at making top 5. They are scrubs who I will never ever see at a gety tourney. They are scrubs who will not contribute to this community in any way. And if you're reading this, come to gety and prove it. - Yes we could have given notice a little earlier, we all owe an apology to the staff for the late notice. None of us were looking forward to this tourney. But nothing will change what happened. We're capable of much better, but there was just no incentive this time around. - I will not however, apologize to any fucking scrub who made arrangements to make it out to TFNS in hopes of a BBCS tourney so that they can demonstrate how much they fucking suck. Why? Because tournaments are held at gety all the time. I've went out of my own way far too many times in hopes of pleasing the community, only to see people give up. So consequently, I've given up on the "community", and only play with my close friends at gety. Gety isn't getting CS2. We only play games available at gety. Put 2 and 2 together, then you understand why people don't want to invest their time in BB anymore. It's quite simple to understand.

Look around all of you, and tell me to my face monitor that the Canadian animu fighter scene hasn't expanded since BB. NOW, onwards to real issues. I think me and unsanc need to collectively troll all the Canadian threads on dustloop. Thoughts on this, I feel it's a greater at hand. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but arcades are dying faster than the actual games. You are under the assumption that our arcade has all the money in the world to spend on buying new games. The harsh truth of reality is that gety doesn't have that kind of money, so we must be selective in choosing a new game to play. When lecturing other communities, it would help to know a thing or two about the community first. And for the record, all the new BB players are scrubs and have not helped the competition one bit. BB has always been a crappier version of GG. Has anyone talked to the boss recently about new games? The last time anyone talked to him was a month ago but now it's getting more clear that we should really not get CS2. MBAA imo.
