I personally prefer using this kind of playlist http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0557D01BD9A759CB I hate how the new youtube channels have it set up. -
Wait, it says Grand Finals are 4/7 and winner's finals are 3/5 on the first post. Are you changing it? And I think Loser's finals should be the same length as winner's finals. Those three finals are the climax of any tournament because they decide top 4. Of course, if there are time constraints, I guess it can't be helped.

I thought that part of the entry fee would go towards the arcade. My mistake. -
So when you say 2/3 do you mean best of 3 in-game sets of best of 3 rounds? Or do you mean a single in-game set of best of 3 rounds. Also, what of Loser's Finals? Does it get the same length as Winner's Finals?

So wait, the machines aren't going to be set to "Event" Mode? We have to pay entry AND for every time we play? -

lol, I guess so. Although, I didn't pick Nu because she's god tier. lol I'm kind of liking the changes to her Act Pulsar. I've always liked mixing a style of long range with melee and Nu never really let me do that. Lambda seems to have that mix, so I think I'll like her. :D -
To avoid confusion, it would be much appreciated if a mod could add the "[OLD BBCT]" tag to the name of this thread. I'm probably going to make a new thread for BB:CS. I figure that splitting the discussion would make sense. New game, new thread, new chart, new discussion.

Might be able to come to this. -
I understand that the character boards are there for a reason, but I don't think it can be avoided that some discussions end up being quite in-depth as it's the only way to properly find what each match-up is. Spirit Juice, do you think it would be appropriate if I made a dedicated thread for each character in their respective forums to discuss match-ups pertaining to this chart?
-
Although, I will give chu credit here for showing character potential, generally, Smashboards has no idea what it's doing when it comes to tier lists and match-ups. Believe me, I know. Anything they do should be taken with a grain of a grain of salt. Every time someone argues a match-up, or asks about a match-up, they either agree with some of the chart in their argument and/or someone almost always comes in and properly explains why the match-up is what it is, keeping the chart from changing very much. These range from a few posts to complete discussions, but have mostly always lead into what the chart is now. I'd like to let everyone know that I keep a record of the better posts, (who, what, when) so that I can more quickly relay past posts when the need arises and for historic reflection. If the chart gets properly finalized, I will put links on the first post that best describe why each match-up is the way it is to better help people understand each match-up and to help cut down on repetitive questions. With that said, I think a bit of organization on my part would be appropriate so that we can focus more on the most questionable match-ups first. From what I've seen throughout the entire thread, the match-ups that seem the most urgent are the following: Bang-Tager Current: 55-45 Suggested:70:30 Heroic_Legacy and 10stars strongly feel that this match-up is 70-30 in favour of Bang coming from the Bang's perspective. There hasn't been any solid argument from the Tager's side and that's the only thing that's keeping the chart static for that match-up. If Mike Z or another knowledgeable Tager player could give the Tager's side of the match-up, we can weed out any discrepancies and properly confirm by how much of an advantage Bang has over Tager. Posts: Heroic_Legacy 1 Raiderwarlord99 Heroic_Legacy 2 worldjem7 SolBadass Henaki Heroic_Legacy quoting 10stars Carl-Bang Current: 55-45 Suggested: 70-30 10stars mentioned this, but it never really took off. With such a large claim from a well-known and respected Bang player, I think it merits some investigation. Posts: JinSaotome Any match-up is always welcome for discussion. I only suggest these match-ups because these are significant changes, but the debates between them are incomplete.

How would the Bang-Carl match-up be so bad for Bang?
-
That's just it though, Bang HAS to use mix-ups in order to trick the Tager into letting him hit him while Nu and Arakune can just lock Tager down with ease. With what you said about Bang, it seems like it could be at 60 or 65 at most for Bang. Arakune can stay in the air just as much, or longer, than Bang and has much better tools that lock Tager down entirely. Becaue of this, Nu and Arakune don't really need a mix-up game as much as Bang does vs Tager. For bang's Nails, Tager also has the option of sledging through them, like any projectile. It's just Nu and Arakune's projectiles are better in the sense that they allow better mobility than Bang's nails. I'd like to hear about this match-up from the Tager's side if there's someone who wants to contribute. For Nu: Nu doesn't ever have to AP into punish range and she definitely doesn't need 50 heat to get out of the corner if Tager isn't right next to her. Even then, Nu has options other than Counter Assault to get out of the corner, such as barrier and backdash. If Tager stands in range of punishing AP then Nu can shoot swords, if Tager gets a bit closer, Nu can beat him out with 2C, 3C or an A or B move. The only time Tager is at an advantage is if he somehow gets right in Nu's face, and Nu NEVER has to approach Tager. If Tager tries to make the Nu approach he'll lose. Sledge is very easy to bait, Nu can get out of the corner very easily by baiting their sledge into CH 2C > combos. If the Nu is being mindless and just spams 5DD j.DD then yeah they'll get CH but, smarter Nu's won't do that, and that's what we're looking for in a match-up.

Current: Nu 55-45 Carl Switched to Even, but I still think we should discuss it more. Current: Bang 55-45 Tager Arakune 75-25 Tager Nu 70-30 Tager Suggested: Bang 70-30 Tager Arakune 60-40 Tager Nu 60-40 Tager How would Bang do better against Tager than Nu and Arakune? What can Bang do to Tager that would be better than what Nu and Arakune can do to Tager? What can Tager do to Nu and Arakune that would make the match-up that good? Thank you for your input.

It's not even that. Whenever Reria got a hit he would either start comboing and then stop or just not follow up at all. And the combos he did manage to land were very rushed and they didn't do the max damage that they could do.
-
Reria dropped so many combos in that video it's not even funny.

Ignore the colours for now. Top chart is the Match-up Chart. The chart is read left to right, with the match-ups for a corresponding character on the left being the first number and the top character having the second number. If you look at Carl and go across to Tager you see "80." This means that Carl has an 80-20 Match-up on Tager. Also notice that if you go down to Tager on the left and look across to Carl, the match-up will read "20" which means Tager has a 20-80 match-up against Carl. The higher the number for the character on the left, the better the match-up is for them. So, Carl has the 80 and Tager has the 20. The Ratings for each character is listed on the right side. The math behind this rating can be found on the first post. The rating is a way to rank each character according to their match-ups. The difference column is also explained on the first post. The Bottom Chart is the Distribution Chart. This chart shows how many match-ups each character has of all the different possible match-ups. For example, Rachel has: One 45-55 against her Two Even match-ups with other characters. One 55-45 in her favour Five 60-40 in her favour. Two 70-30 in her favour. And Zero match-ups of everything else. These are all summed up on the right side, where it includes all her match-ups including the mirror. Having more favourable match-ups is good and having more unfavourable match-ups is bad. The colours are only there to make it easier to read. Green means good and Red means bad. The difference column is used to separate the characters into groups. This is explained on the first post. The colours used to sort characters depend on how many different groups there are. Right now there are 5 groups and can act like Mikachiru said. Hope this cleared up everything.

That's how almost all of Nu's match-ups are, though. If Nu keeps away properly she'll win, if the other character gets in then they win. So, I don't think that's good enough to say the match-up is even. If there's some special way for Noel to get inside better than Ragna or another character of a similar ratio, then that might warrant an even match-up.
-
Technically, the home consoles do update them, it's just they don't change the places. If Ragna fell to the bottom of a console's match-up chart he would still stay on top of the chart shown because there's a set order that the game keeps each character in. The match-up chart in the console lists Rachel as "RC" so I used "RC."
-
Well if it needs more explanation than already given, I guess I can try to spell it out. Basically, you're supposed to look at the match-ups and if you disagree with one, you argue it as to why it should be changed. Unless everyone agrees to what's up there already. The colours are just there to make things more obvious so it's easier to read.

THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL CHART. THIS IS A CHART BY THE COMMUNITY, FOR THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. The purpose of this thread is to discuss BB:CT match-ups in a mature manner so as to fill out a chart with accurate ratios for the benefit of the community. I gathered information from the closest thing to a prior match-up chart (arcadia's magazine chart) and tried to interpret the disagreements as best as I could. BUT! That doesn't mean my views are correct, nor does it mean Arcadia is entirely correct, either, which is why I bring this chart to you, the community. I request any and all knowledgeable players to help clear up misunderstandings and correct incorrect match-ups. You don't have to be good at the game to be knowledgeable, but more experienced players are more likely to be knowledgeable than less experienced players. I will update this chart as the meta-game changes and as valid arguments are given. Update 001 - 09.10.12 The following counts how many kinds of match-ups each character has. This is used to break ties. T.G.M = Total Good Match-Ups T.E.M. = Total Even Match-Ups T.B.M. = Total Bad Match-Ups "Even" means "all even match-ups not including the mirror." Update 001 - 09.10.12 The rest of this post will act like a FAQ as I'm fairly certain most people on DL know what a match-up chart means. Each match-up is determined by weighing each character's abilities and what they can do to each other assuming the two players are of equal skill level at high level play. This means that we assume that both players know of every single match-up and play each match-up in the most optimal way to win. The match-ups shown are when two characters play 10 games against each other to see how many games each character would win. The number is multiplied by 10 to eliminate decimals (so 6.5-3.5 would be 65-35). The Rating is the sum of all match-ups for a character minus the total number of characters times the number for an even match-up. Ex.: sum of Rachel's match-ups is 690 so: 690-(12*50) = 90 Groups of characters on this chart are divided by uncommon large differences between two adjacent characters. This number can change from chart to chart, but will always be apparent. This is merely to make it easier to read the chart. The "Difference" column shows the difference between the character beside the number and the character above the number. Rachel has no one above her so she has no difference. The basic format of the chart was adopted from Street Fighter's system.
