  1. I would argue that 6A w/Manten is unsafe period. If matches with Gor and Veteru taught me anything if the IB happens it's a free IAD into combo. ~Chun
  2. It bares repeating. Even if one knew every combo in the entire game for Litchi, the main problem is even starting that string when people already know what to expect from a Litchi's approach; as a character without a solid non-punishable overhead (And no, don't argue staffless 6A or any IAD; that's the assumption you have initiative and blockstun). If I remember most of my experiences, all I know is that my 5B is my best friend, but I have to place it correctly, as with every other move. Most of our overhead attempts require rapid to keep from being punished. That's one of our fundamental weaknesses, that there is a dependence on our low attacks. It amounts to this: Who cares if someone can do all the fancy string/reset/setups when it can't even get started? Litchi is: 5% Combos 75% Placement 20% Meatbuns And don't you ever forget it. ~Chun
  3. Just putting in my 2 cents as a player since the first day of Arcade release: Litchi is definitely not a character that is easy to start out with. I spent many hours visiting my arcade as much as possible (Approx. 3 times a week at least) over the course of 2 months at first just to win a few matches against the basic Ragna BS you'll run in to constantly. Before the prospect of doing the nice corner carry combos, stick setups and traps, you will have to seek the opportunities in which allow you to initiate those strings; and even so, you won't have that easy-mode damage most people have without putting in many commands. A lot of people start off with Litchi, use her DP, do some basic stance tricks and think that's all there is to it; when you get to the harder parts you'll need to memorize your weight classes, nail those small frame gaps to rebounce opponents, know how to stance safely without being punished by cooldown, and work with your staff placements to work those staffless combos and re-launches effectively. I don't recommend Litchi to my friends when they just want to play casually. I can't tell you how many times I've been stuffed in ranbats here in Norcal because my tactics are limited in scope and require short of perfect execution. Also, she does have some great 50/50s and an amazing corner game, but in the end if you can't get them in the corner it's all for naught. Once you have your gimmicks being figured out by your opponents, the core is all about placement, staff hangtime to keep the pressure, and finding just the right moment to initiate that execution intensive mid-screen carry. Eventually I'll write up a post on my view of Litchi and how I see her. As a person who is one of the 2 few people who are playing her at the Norcal SVGL arcade, at tournament level, I'd say commit or just quit now. There's a reason why, despite her hotness, her fanart level pales in comparison to the rest of the female cast. I don't mean for this to discourage new Litchis, but this is how I see it. ~Chun
  4. Official Combo Vid ??? ~Chun
  5. Well what you've said so far is 5C hit into Stance. Your video was also removed, so can't really help you there; your notation suggests something that I don't really hear about (Unless you're talking a basic aerial to OTG combination) ~Chun
  6. j.B against most his moves (you win almost all the time with staff) in air, if he looks like he's going to set 3 icicles jump into the space between them or ground block. j.C if you see him setting up D. Stay in the area between the sword slash and far from the screen. It really depends on the style/kind of Jin you're up against. Jin's sword slash has a certain radius (And holding invincibility). Gauge that radius, then when approaching jump in faultless for a basic bait and 5B into desired combination. When he's doing a heavy ice sword most 3C staff will reach him before setup. When you're staffless you should probably be focused on trying to get the knock down for the staff call-back rejuggle, or relaunch from the OTG with 2B 2C j.b JC j.b j.c into staff call-back. Jin is a match up that can be really easy if you know what you're doing and what they're trying to go for; but can be a nightmare if you rush in without thinking. ~Chun
  7. Well since most of the comments have been covered, I do think I've found my secondary. Myu is too fun with her gravity seed and projectile barrage. j.C 2C j.cancel C 2C has to be one of the most fancy ways to do damage. Let those hits roll. Also, concerning a combo I saw using 3C to a 214 A (which in Noel and Carl's case, is 214 C), I don't see that much use in it combo wise. It's certainly good for placement, but after the gravity seed hits the follow-up damage is horrible with the D projectiles afterward. I wonder if a rapid cancel would allow you to add much more than the j.C j.2C, as in some cases 2C will hit aerial targets, as well as serving as a nice anti-air. IAD j.2C land 1C 3C into 214 A... working on the rest. ~Chun
  8. Was thinking about swinging by at 1 PM or so to do it, if not by then she should be unlocked. ~Chun
  9. Oh snap! Thanks for the command list. She looks fun, but not Hakumen slow. ~Chun
  10. I wouldn't see any sort of problem in utilizing a call-back tech punish window to use 6C to reset, and not doing 6C amidst a neutral tech seems like a nice set up for a throw. If anything whenever the staff hits there's no reason why a 6C wouldn't connect afterward. But I think you know this already so I don't exactly know what you're getting at. ~Chun
  11. If you're talking about the staffless backflip that arcs backwards, that's 63214 B. Tick throws can be made after 2A but only to a certain distance. The escape window is also double exclamation. ~Chun
  12. I was doing research tonight and I noticed that Noels during ground assault eat a 5C with staff if you jump in, back dash (Optional j.C), and then 5C. It's pretty easy to bait since a standing 5D for Noel has a lot of cooldown time. In fact, most of the D whiffs in drive when you dash away for a moment will be stopped by a reaching 6C if you zone well enough, so you can 3C, hold mantenbou, dash forward rejuggle 6C. Straight through will only work after 6C I believe on larger characters; mostly because the hitbox during the aerial of it is different; if too close, second hit won't connect, too far, recoverable. (I'm not even sure if you even have stance after 6C; I think you're "staffless") I'm curious how much damage that runs. I've just been utilizing a rejuggle mantenbou strategy by trying to OTG then testing waters to see if they will tech roll, then 6C into DP and so on. ~Chun
  13. Most of Noel's moves when she's in drive on the ground is easy j.B to ground fodder, and when she tries for any of her ranged bursts your 5C does the reach job if you dodge it correctly. In fact, zoning with Litchi's mantenbou keeps Noel coming at you because her range is so limited; getting in close for normal pokes is covered by your staff. Your j.B also beats most of her air options with staff. I've had relatively small trouble against Noels; if you're in one of her blockstrings just hold jump and faultless, and you're sometimes open to just j.b with staff into a combo. ~Chun
  14. Yeah, he's the other Litchi player that was there that day with the ponytail. He had a tougeki card with him as well. I'll have to test this some with Gor's Bang then LK. I'll post again when I do get another match. ~Chun
  15. The other option is 623 D, which I see Emphy use more often. I've been working on that iteration and the only real use for it (that's worth the timing/placement risk for the 2C 6C follow) is to further put them into the corner. The other is more damaging, from what I could see. I don't think you can really punish a good Bang with a jump in and then jump out again. Teleport tricks will eat you alive all the time when you're doing any sort of j.B, 5B, 5C, whatever has some sort of frame on it (All it takes is contact). Same happens with the aerial autoguard he has. I would argue that Litchi has a bad matchup with Bang; since he's also one of the only characters that can punish or IAD over most of your ground options safely. I see it as 4:6 for Bang. ~Chun
  16. BlazBlue had a global simultaneous release, so if I remember correctly you can set it to english if you tell the operator to go to the options. I remember seeing the option in the menu during the Ranbat at Sunnyvale Golfland in my area. ~Chun
  17. How are you in staffless state after the 6A? I know 6A doesn't relinquish the staff on hit; I'm just confused by its wording. Also: What is a rekka? I see the term used quite a bit but I don't quite know what its talking about (Though I have a feeling I am using them...) There's a lot of fun things you can do against Rachel as Litchi; same can be said with Tager. For Rachel players I've just been using the easy loop; 2C 6C 2C 6C 2C 6C then what have you staffless; big damage, little effort. ~Chun
  18. Hello everyone, just signed and registered on the forums today. Not real used to talking in depth about frame data and such, so sorry if my statements appear very... confusing. After reading the entire thread I haven't found an opinion on an option I discovered accidentally in a match. Upon an anti-air hit (3C, or perhaps a confirm during opponent's IAD towards you), what is the opinion on 41236D~A? In a match I was able to immediately pull this maneuver out in order to get the opponent on the floor (Apparently the hitbox of the staff no matter how close the distance is large enough such that any airborne enemy can be OTG) in which I simply did the 236A236B236C ground string. It leads me to believe that in strings which the staff is returning, 41236D~A may serve some purpose as the staff usually comes back fast enough pull out another 623D. Though I haven't tested how much proration this causes, I wonder if it can be utilized as a meter gain string. Also, I seem to be having troubles with relaunching characters that are on the ground except for utilizing Daisangen or staff 623 D. A friend told me it was character specific, but I'm having some difficulties figuring out which is what. Any data would be appreciated. Thanks. ~Chun
