the best advice I can think of a for a new player trying to get into the fg scene: 1. Don't be afraid to lose, no body really cares how good you are, as long as you arn't a scrub. If you are honestly trying to improve, and listen to people's advice, you will get respect from 80-90% of the community. 2. Don't be offended by shit talk. It really isn't personal. Don't let people push you around, but at the same time, don't get butt hurt over trash talk. It isn't worth it, and once you get used to it, shit talk is a lot of fun :-D 3. GO TO TOURNAMENTS AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. I played GG years before I actually got involved in the community, my enjoyment, and skill at the game increase hugely when I started going to events. What is your transportation situation? if you can drive up to SF on thursday or friday nights, Rod (Honnou) frequently has gathers at his house. Super friendly atmosphere, and one of the better players in norcal on site to give you pro tips.

Pre-reg doesn't help unless people pre-reg... If you want to see a game that isn't GG, BB or MB at norcal install, you better pre-reg to show your interest.

let run a quick pre-reg deal to get an idea of the number of entrants for each game. Then we can make an educated call on what to run.

I concede this might be true... is socal and Vet coast etc. coming for this? Bigger pot could convince them.

I will run GGAC this month, unless qwerty is dieing to do so. Also as the aim seems to be making this a bigger tourney, I suggest raising the entry fee to 10 bucks. A bigger entry fee should attract more players. It is up to the community though.

lol, my buddy Casey is the voice for the grunts you kill millions of in the first level, and also the knife wielding maniacs later in the game. I guess he also did some programming or something also....

Doing a GG gathering at my house this Saturday, starting around 1 or 2 pm, unless your AJ then it starts at Noon, but you arrive 2 hours late. Sounds like folks want to get hype Korean food court for dinner. I will kick people out at 2am or so. PM me for address if you don't have it.

yeah, I mean no casuals during the tourny, before and after the tourny is fine. Also I could be smoking crack, I'm just throwing this out there as a way to speed things up, because we are talking about adding more games etc.

Hey for next NCI I think we should force people to enter with the same name across all tournies and venue fee lists. Also force people to use their standard handle for the tourny. It makes it quite a bit harder for TOs to seed the bracket, and it makes it harder for chun to cross reference venue fees. Which both contributed to the late start we had last time. I know people have fun with making up shitty names, but I think it would be a small sacrifice to make as it make the event run that much smoother. An other thing I think we should do, is stop casual play during the tourny. I know that sounds crazy but here is what I am thinking: 1. Every one not playing a tourny match should hang out near the TOs set up, or watch a match that is near the TOs set up. 2. All the set ups are in use for tourny. the net result is that the tourny goes waaaaay faster because we don't have to spend time getting people off casuals and onto their tourny match, and we have more set ups for casuals. Once the tourny reaches top 4 or what ever we can reopen all the stations for casual play. Crazy I know, but it might be worth trying.
