http://ncinstall.webs.com/ Join this website and contribute. People have checked this to get updates on NCI. Edit: Running bi-monthly tournaments is a good idea, doing monthly ranbats works too, and doing a semi-annual event is fine. Here's the deal; run it! The point of NCI is to let the players run the gig, not one person. Granted, not everybody can handle a 3-man round robin or a huge tournament. I've been around long enough to know that NorCal has some of the worst people to manage anything. BE PUSHY! BE A DOUCHEBAG! BE A DICK! You want NCI to keep running, then nag your friends to come. Stop being lethargic and take some initiative. If you guys can't get anything done without me hounding your ass, then -I'm sorry- but the scene deserves to die. Yes, you'll make mistakes that'll taint NCI's image. That's life; sht happens. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and get things done. You guys got a taste of what NCI could be like in the near future - now it's time the community takes this event one step further. *** Edit2: If you guys want my opinion, then this is what I suggest. I'd say we divide people based on region. The reality is that the BB scene is big enough to hold regionals at different locations. For e.g., we can host monthly ranbats at Sac, East Bay, South Bay, and SLO Cal. The premise for doing this is this, 'Build the FG scene at the local level; not at the macro scale.' After six months, we can bring every -seeded- regional team together for a battle royale! Since GG/MB is smaller, they can do a monthly ranbat in the same location. Doing this solves three problems: 1) Venues; smaller tournaments means smaller space to host tournaments. 2) Time Flexibility; in the event you can't make it to one tournament, you have the option to host it at another location. 3) Lots of Opportunities; you have numerous opportunities to seed yourself in any one of these regional tournaments. 4) Less Manpower; you don't need to have a lot of staff/volunteers to run this tournament. Drawbacks: 1) Small Turnouts; enough said. 2) Lost Communication; hosting too many events in a single month gets lost in translation. 3) Loss of Commitment; it takes a lot of energy to run tournaments...let alone organize five of them in a single month. 4) No SoCal people coming up unless it's a grand event. Here's how the tournament would look like: - Week 1: MB/GG NCI Ranbat Hosted by: KatanDash and Tsubasa - Week 2: Sacramento NCI Regional Ranbat Hosted by: Spirit Juice - Week 3: South Bay NCI Regional Ranbat Hosted by: Dacidbro and Aginor - Week 4: East Bay NCI Regional Ranbat Hosted by: DKL *** Final Regional Tournament: BLAZING NCI Hosted by: TaoFTW Tournament Roster: Day 1 - Blazblue CS Singles Hosted by: Spirit Juice - Guilty Gear AC Hosted by: KatanDash - Melty Blood AA Hosted by: Tsubasa - KoF 2002 Hosted by: Qwerty - Arcana Heart 3 Hosted by: LOLI - Chaos Breaker Hosted by: shtkn Day 2 BBCS Regional Exhibitions: - Sac Crew - South Bay - East Bay - SoCal MB/GG NorCal vs. SoCal Exhibition BBCS 2v2 teams MBAA 2v2 teams GGAC 2v2 teams

Mission Statement: NorCal INSTALL! seeks to expose the new generation of Fighting Gamers to the classics while building stronger social networks within the FG community. You need to know where you've been in order to know where to go. Hosting a regional for the sake of a regional is stupid and pointless...like Gamefaqs and Triple Troll. Hosting monthlies, bi-monthlies, weeklies or annual events is irrelevant without purpose. Do you want to join the SF4 bandwagon or start something of your own caliber? If you choose the latter, then I suggest you do the following: - Get other people hyped up about NCI. Redirect everyone to the IPW stream archive and tell your friends about our event. Once they start asking when the next tournament is going to take place, start discussing a date. - Assume that the scene is going to grow; people want to get in touch with the hype. Start thinking long term and focus your energy on searching for legit venues. This includes, but not limited to: Hotels, Convention Centers, and College Ballrooms. - Communicate; people who don't talk about hype won't get others hyped. Anytime you have lack of communication within any team, people stop caring n' play the blame game. NorCal has been through this ordeal a few times - just ask Scott. - Build social network; everybody in the community now has connections with IPW, Brokentier, and TheBBVlog. Discuss further ideas with them about building up the FG community with the people who broadcast YOU. If you can do all this, then we can make the next NCI bigger and better.

Wow, people are actually doing stuff without me spoon feeding everyone!
-
*SIGH* SJSU vs. EUdemonia EUdemonia > SJSU Eudemonia no longer available. SJSU < Scott's House SCOTT HOUSE FOR NEXT NCI.
-
Not for a while. Dean doesn't want to hold another big event, but he at least had a good time watching. So, you have to attend an event with a 100% chance of winning in order to go? O_o If that's the case, then you better own Jamba Juice and make a living there. :3
-
On the contrary, October is still a good date. You shouldn't stay in debt. Finish school and get a job. :3 We have been going monthly with NCI since November 2009. You BB flunkies should be grateful that GG/MB yielded it's spotlight for you. They were the ones that got the scene off it's feet. That was the main reason why I wanted you, rin, to promote GG/MB a bit better. You're using their name to promote BB was a bit 3:<. But the event was still a success, so we forgive you. I want you guys to start wearing dress clothes and go talk to some Hotel staff. Seriously, we have the people to make this gig hype. Nobody wants to listen to some random NEET dressup up with, 'IN DUST WE TRUST' T-Shirts (no offense Koogy, but business is business). Make a business card, plaster NCI all over the interweb, do something!

I traveled the -entire- bay area for a venue; this includes: hotels, card shops, schools and even car dealerships. So when I found EUdemonia, it was like finding a needle in a haystack. You cannot get a hotel ballroom unless you have the people to back it up. We have the people. Now it's time to make the hype.
-
Yes. The average ballroom -comparable to the size of NCR- runs at approximately $100 per hour or $1.5k for the whole day. This depends on the size, the time of year, and -of course- the amount of people we'll be bringing. Schools have better deals that range from $300-$800 to rent out their big ballrooms - Kinyoobi con does this. Now that our scene has grown to 100 people, renting out a hotel is a viable option. Here's the crux; the more people that rent their hotel rooms, the cheaper you can rent the ballroom. So the bigger the FG scene, the bigger venues you can host. There are three things you'll need to make this a successful event: - Money; most big-name tournaments (including Triple Troll) usually have some pocket money to subsidize part of the ballroom costs. However many entrants that enter will help to reimburse your lost moneyz. - Staff; tournaments cannot be run by a solo-mio. WCW was notorious for a serious lack of manpower. - Advertise; we now have IPW, Brokentier, Tauntloop, TheBBVlog, EUdemonia and few more people willing to advertise the tournament for us. These are -real- people running these sites, so treat them with some dignity and COMMUNICATE with them. Give them weekly updates, discuss ideas, and be a problem solver. We have big name organizations that will give hotels some business incentive. I encourage you use it. The drawback: - Running big-name tournaments are costly, time-consuming, and take months of preparation. You -cannot- run monthly meets while prepping up for a huge tourney. Doing monthly casuals for lulz n' plastic hype doesn't count. - NorCal is the most lethargic fighting game community in West Coast, so expect to do a lot of solo work. Running an official bi-monthly is better for the sole reason that NorCal is HUGE LAIKE XBOX. Spanning a tournament over two months is enough so people know about it, but have time to delay the inevitable. It also saves whatever sanity you have left. So yeah, I'll be happy to give you my rundown on T.O. experience. Now that I think about it, I want to write an article about this.
-
gl hf. If you're going to host monthly tournaments, then count me out. However, I will be more than happy to train people management 101. I will let you know that I spent over half a year planning for the most recent NCI. Koogy, Fred, and I are good people to talk to about how to run a tournament. If you talk to any one of us, then we'll give you constructive criticism to the max.
-
EUdemonia is -not- an option for monthly meets. We can do annual events, but Dean doesn't want to host 100+ people. However, since our scene has grown to the hundreds, doing a tournament at a hotel is now an option.
-
We're all homo for each other like JWong. Btw, you guys should start planning for the next NCI. Seeing people discuss animu and weeaboo + shoutouts won't do much for the scene.
-
Just fyi, we've been running NCI ranbats every month for the past year since November 09.
-
Haunts, keep up the good work! We'll try to make the next one even more hype! Yes, I'm taking a breather from T.O. and games. It was a fun ride, but -eventually- all good things come to an end.
-
:3 How you enjoying that poster? Thanks pulsr. Didn't get to talk with you, but your coolness factor is over the top.
-
Wow, how does that happen with BB?! :3
-
Hit me up. I've been meaning to come to Santa Cruz for the longest time. I'll be happy to play some BB n' stuff with you.
-
And I work at in n out lol :3 I have your lost stuff in my trunk.
-
Dacidbro, KatanaDash, Tsubasa and Whiteboywilly. You guys are the best people to be the successfully take NorCal INSTALL! to greater lengths. The foundation is all there. Use it to your advantage and ride with the hype.
-
My Tager is the best in 5America. Also, final pot for BB was the following: 1st: $173 2nd: $74 3rd: $24 Yes. GG/MB are still in the IPW archive

Despite the fact that people always had to come to me for every single boo-boo; despite seeing some poor communication; despite having to go to sleep and waking up in 3 hours lol; the event was a -resounding- success. I would, personally, like to thank everyone who showed up from SLO cal and SOL cal n' Reno n' PNW. I know most of you seen me as a raging ball of fire and fretting over every single mishap, but hey - at least it gets the job done. Shoutouts: - JacerX: Your dodging skills rival that of Dodgemonkey - Sanoshi: There will a next time. There were also some girl power present in the scene; you're not alone anymore! :D - Haunts: Thanks for lugging out that hype streaming equipment. You helped out more than our words can convey. We look forward to working with you in the near future. - Spirit Juice and Aginor: I said it once and I'll say it again, "The fact that you guys managed to control miscommunication and still end ON TIME is -downright- impressive; you're all management material and I suggest you take over NorCal's T.O." Seriously, that was some messed up crap and guys dealt with it rather well. - Koogy: I took all your advice to heart and it came out in epic proportions. Your advice and constructive criticism is, and always will be, gold. - KatanaDash: Thanks for managing the brackets. I'm pleased to hear of some amazing upsets. - Qwerty: Next time, you should overcharge people and take the money for yourself. Stay free. - TheGURL: GET A REAL NAME! Btw, enjoy your loli wallpaper. - Zenmetsu: Max, I wish we could've hung out more often, but I was flailing around the place like a headless chicken. We should just sit down and talk about things one of these days. - Ginseng: Troll match was -almost- troll. - MikeZ: If I were to put a person into the league of extraordinary gentlemen, then you would be in there. Thanks for coming out. I know it's hard on you to make it to these events, but your efforts are always appreciated. - Goryus: Thanks for showing up. Your GF is a Tao and I appreciate it. - Coopa: Thanks for hooking us up with IPW and friends. It helped to make the tournament with double-double hype. - Honnou: You also deserve to be in the league of extraordinary gentlemen. Remember, keep on applying to the Daly City In-n-out. Communicate. - Tenkai: Stay salty, but at least you have some weeaboo stuff to take home. - Sims: It was great seeing you again. Thanks for coming out on short notice. - Kennyon: Awesome as always. I miss you, we should hang out and talk. - Zong_One: We need to play. - Rinhara5aki: Thanks for the recordings. I'm sure you'll have a kick out of all the NCI matches around. - Drayne_O: Gratz on the poster. I'm glad to know it's in good hands. - 2GB: Stay cool and keep a calm head. You had a lot of hype moments. - Tsubasa: Thanks for running the MB setups. As always, your hard work is much appreciated. - Spidey: You are a cool guy and thanks for reminding me to take a breather. My blood pressure skyrocketed through the roof. Some of you may have heard my rant about NorCal's lack of leadership. I am so sorry to inform you of this, but I am taking a -very- long breather from FGs, gaming, and Tournament Organizing. How long? Only time will tell. Regardless, you guys should continue with the hype train. DON'T LET THE HYPE DIE! NORCAL IS NO LONGER IN MY HANDS< BUT IN YOURS. Edit: We have about 85 people show up + another 10-20 people as spectators. I've never seen so much hype.

Rise and shine NorCal...Rise and shine!

We need TVs/CRTs/LCDs
-
Yeah, I sent him your number. I meant that we replace the asus monitor, for commentary, with Crossell's Samsung monitor. We can use the spare Asus to setup another BB station. Oh yeah, I'm giving away prizes and stuff.
-
Appreciate the help! So yeah, just bring it and we'll make use of it in some way.
