I expect Kousaka to win this.
-
Size is alright. It's the size of the MPR room of Devry with an extra room. I just talked with Koogy. He was hoping for us to make it on October. So go ahead and make the HitConfirm thread with the date TBA. Make a poll, or something, so people can vote for the best time. Make the deadline by July 30th.

I'm happy to know that we've hitconfirmed the venue. All that's left is the date. Here are the following dates that we can do the gig: - August 28th - September 4th - October 2nd Also, I went to EU yesterday. I was hoping to meet Dean, but there wasn't anybody to help give me tour around the place. :< But yeah, I'll be there again on one of my off days next week. I am down for a 5v5 exhibition match, but if we do that, then I would rather split it to a 2-day event.
-
I'm going to make a new thread for our norcal minor gig. until then, just keep on posting here.
-
No clue. Chun is trying to find out all the details.
-
165 for reserving two days plus $X for overtime.
-
Yeah, I'm working on that. :< Yeah, August 7th is no longer the date for the minor. It'll either be on the last Saturday of August or the first Saturday of September. We are also likely to go to Berkeley After the American console release, BBCS will make it's debut in our NorCal Fighting Game Minor. $165 for two days Unless we can get longer hours at SJSU and a cheaper deal, it is more than likely we are going to EU. I sent the management an email, but I have yet to hear back from them. :< Edit: I don't care what happens, but AH3 is going to be in these tournaments...whether you like it or not! >:3

Don't worry. This time, we're going to be a stickler about time. I'm going to make sure Qwerty Alex will be aware of that. If you don't show up to your appointed match, you'll be sent to losers. If you fail to show up for your match for losers, then you are DQ. We're going to be setting up Pre-Reg and on site registration. If you prereg, then you'll pay a considerably less venue fee. On site registration will probably be double.

Or we could just stop by for some good unorthodox Korean BBQ in Berkeley. And, no, it is not all you can eat.
-
Just FYI, the EU place in Berkeley has a parking garage. As for date, let's look into either the 8/28 or 5/4. Depending on the pricing, space and availability, we may choose to go to Euph. I still, however, would like you to reserve the classroom accordingly. In the event that something happens, and we decide to change our mind, I would like to have some venue OPTION SELECTS.
-
If that's the case, then I suggest this; DAY 1 BBQ @ Dacidbro's house w/ BBCS, GGAC, & MB MMs. Stream provided by some affliates of IPW. DAY 2 TOURNAMENT DAY! A two day event sounds more appealing than a one day fiasco. I'd imagine socal coming up for something like this.
-
Well, stuff isn't finalized yet. We'll see what happens.

Alrighty guys. It looks like we'll be heading out towards SJSU. I would suggest having the tournament on the first weekend of September and/or the last weekend of August. The only reason why is because we have to operate our tournament towards the SU hours. If we go an hour over closing time, we will be charged an extra fee. If I recall correctly, the Student Union closes at 5pm. This means that we need to get our tournaments finished no later than 4pm. The flipside to this is that we can span this event to a 2-day event; Friday - Saturday.
-
So when are office hours on Saturday?
-
This post applies to anyone who goes to SJSU. Whom must I talk to in the Student Union about hosting events? Where are the rooms and how big are the classrooms?
-
Hey rin, you have some time right now to eat some late lunch or do you have work? Oh, and I don't MM dacid.
-
Oh right. I have a question guys, WHERE IS THE BERKELEY INTERWEBZ CAFE!?
-
Chun, I appreciate your efforts and need you to give me a hit confirm by, no later, than Wednesday (7/21). I NEED to know if we can reserve the room so I can start working out some serious business with IPW, Coopa, Koogy, PNW and SoCal. Since the first Saturday of August may be a bit of a crunch, we can delay the event for a little bit. But I must know if you can sign off the room on any - one - of these days: August 7th, 14th, 21st. Edit: Room rates; http://www.union.sjsu.edu/SU/SU_Event_Services/SU_Room_Specs/su_room_specs.html I'd like to see us get the Umunhum.

Okay guys. So after talking things over with Coopa, here's the deal with the minor tournament. First things first, are we staying with, 'NorCal INSTALL' or do you want to change the name to, 'HitConfirm!' Considering all the venue hopping we've been doing, I - personally - would choose the latter. The mission statement for our, future, tournaments is this, "HitConfirm/NorCal INSTALL seeks to expose the new generation of FGers to the classics while building stronger social networks within the Fighting Game community." I just came up with that off the top of my head, but feel free to argue differently or edit accordingly. Here's the situation with our tournaments and how it will look like in the future. Do you care enough about the game you play to showcase it to other people? Do you want to play other - good - classic titles in a competitive setting? And if you feel like you want to help redirect some of the SSF4 hype train to other titles, then are you willing to step up your game to show it? If you said, 'Yes,' then I suggest you start helping this minor get off it's ass and into high gear. And here's how you can help: - First, and foremost, show up! We're looking at the first weekend of August. - Bring your setup; this can range anywhere to streaming setups to bringing consoles/TVs. - Be a TO (tournament organizer); you can help run tournament brackets, seeding, and managing the games on the roster. - Advertise; spread the word. Hype begins with you and only when YOU prevent forest blazing combos. - Help us find VENUES! Hit confirm as many as you can! - Coopa suggests MMs...like A3r vs. DODGEMONKEY. So what's on the roster? For starters, we're putting in BBCS, GGAC, and MBAA. T6 is out of the picture, but what we're going to do is let the community decide on which game they want to 'HIT CONFIRM!' This means, 'if we put a fourth game on the lineup, then the FG community will vote for their game like they did for EVO.' We will be putting these tournaments either semi-annually or quarterly. Either way, the minor will consist of those three games. Look forward to a hype end-of-the-summer.

My thoughts exactly. In any case, Berkeley may be our next destination for our future minor. If that's the case, then I'll have to go there myself and talk to the staff. If things go as we planned it to go, then NorCal INSTALL is back - bigger, badder, and bluer. :3
-
Why not? I never made NorCal INSTALL. The community stepped up their game to make it happen. All I did was organize it.
-
The reason why I want to stay away from SJSU is because there's no clubs willing to host our tournament. The price is double for people who want to reserve the space (outside of the SJSU frats). Edit: If you guys want to run the tournament on Sunday at the Berkeley place, then do it. I can't get time off of work to run it - since I have no more vacation days - but you guys should feel empowered to try it out. Edit2: I suggest we hold off on the minor until we get BBCS DLC available.
-
Find a venue before we can talk about the way the tournament is going to be run.

All the matchup experience you had from playing against v13 WILL apply in this one. It was 4.5/5.5 back in CT. Now I find it 4/6, arguably 3.5/6.5, in Taokaka's favor for many reasons: 1) Mobility > Zoning; Lambda has an - exceedingly - hard time trying to zone out Tao because of her mobility. You can jump over swords, crawl under them, or drive past them. For example, if a LA player expects you to jump, they'll use a 2d. Your answer to their 2d is to use a j.4d. 2) Stronger punishes; most of you may have noticed how Lambdas like to back dash. You can punish them by using 6c -> 6k taunt loop. V13 just had to catch you twice with 2d to kill you, now they have to do it four or five times. You just need to kill her with two, or three, solid combos. 3) Drives; because Tao's C cancel drive gives her + frames on block, you can come up with different pressure mixup strings. There's very little Lambda can do against your drive other than try to read you like a book. Because of the way counter hits work in this game, you can hit confirm a drive B-cancel CH to a taunt loop. Long story short, the only way a lamb-chan player would win this is if they know the matchup better than the other opponent.
