Just fyi, I'm usually the guy that doesn't play and runs the tournament. Actually, no, that's not true. But having a designated person run tournaments is not a bad idea. The problem is when the person who runs the bracket sits in a chair and scratches his ass. What's even worse is if people starts picking their arse and use tournament setups for casuals. The worst case scenario is when tournament players LET IT HAPPEN WITHOUT QUESTION! The only thing that'll make it worse is if BLANKA707 steals your money while Triple Troll tries to check your pre-reg status on their iPhones. We are not a goods and service McDonalds drive through. We are a group of casual/tournament FG competitors looking for a HYPE session. Running brackets are a lot harder than it looks for more reasons than I can count dolphin spam. For one: - You must be multi-task oriented. - You have be able to manage multiple setups and rotate matches in a timely fashion. This includes kicking people off of ST casuals and Doctor Mario. If you want to run a successful tournament, then empower the players to take charge of their setups! If you see a tourney setup being used for casuals, then find the balls to KICK THEM OFF. And if you do, then USE IT! This shouldn't be the responsibility of the person running the bracket, but everyone participating in the competition. Edit: For the next ranbat, AKA NorCal 'MINOR' Install, everything will start at the time posted - no exception. We are adding Blazblue into the scheme of things, so BE PREPAR~~~~~ED!

Bring cat ears and cat paws for Ginseng. :3

Okay, so I managed to sort out my money issues. I was in panic mode when I was posting, but I came to my senses and worked something out. *** The past seven ranbats were meant to assess our tournament management abilities. This is what we've managed to tell others about our community. So feel free to constructively troll. If you do, then I'll sit back on my chair and laugh at you ;D: Pros: - Derrick says, "I believe that the GG/BB/MB communities are way smaller than the Tekken community, but there's always something happening." - We are consistent. You can always guarantee a double digit turnout. - We excel at micromanagement. There is always someone, somewhere, that knows how to fix a problem before it blows out of proportion. - We are one of the most amiable group of FGers <3. WE LOVE YOU LOLI JIANG. :3 Everybody is a team player and I can always count on you guys to watch my back n' vice-versa. I, rarely, heard of complaints...and when I do, it has nothing to do with whole community. Even the DeVry guys appreciate how we respect their space. Cons: - We lack some, serious, organization. Nobody knows what to get done and, more importantly, how to get tournaments done in a timely fashion (WE NEED FRED BACK)! Even if they do, then we have to wait till hell freezes over to get something started. - We are so amiable to the point where we let flakers and late-shows, or no-shows, control our tournament. No offense to AJ and Qwerty, you guys contribute more to the scene than most people I know. But if people are complaining about tournaments going late, then we need to start manning it up n' get stuff done. Overall consensus: - As long as there's a venue, there will always be HYPE. We need structure and we need Fred's feedback. The last thing we want is another Triple Troll. *** Dakanya: The only reasons why tournaments go longer than expected is because of following reasons: - Lack of organization: There are a lot of variables that made the tournament go till past 9. But this is, largely, due to people who are trying to run the brackets. We HAVE the setups and the staff; they're just streamed on one setup. In NorCal MINOR Install, we won't stream every match. On the contrary, GG/MB will - more than likely - not be streamed at all. This means that the people hosting the tournament can, simply, focus on managing the brackets on four setups. Assuming you have four setups, you can breeze through a 32 man bracket in 3 hours. - People are too nice: I love nice people and everybody wants to be around those who won't scream at you. But keep in mind that we're running a 32 man bracket in less than six hours. If you wait for people to show up late, then don't expect to start on time. You HAVE to play the bad guy and tell people, "I'm sorry that you're late, but you cannot enter the tournament."

Yes you can reason with him. Either you tell him to shut up or GTFO. I still remember when a random guy stole coffee and said, "I'm a customer! You don't treat customers like this!" My mom started yelling at him, "You're not a customer! Customers pay! You didn't pay so leave or else I'll call the police." He was twice her size and was scared senseless. Needless to say, the guy left without question...and almost got run over while jaywalking across the most busiest street the district. The police came by and arrested the guy. You're actually doing a favor for homeless people by calling in the authorities. They'll get free lodging, food, protection...minus marhvel. The only people losing are the taxpayers. :3 Yes, the guy is paying, but he's doing a disservice to the community and is making a big deal over air fresheners. As much as I want to be compassionate and show that I care, I'll say what one of my former policemen told me, "You don't take crap from anyone. Period." The solution is simple: either move the cab away from the marhvel setup or kick him out. Edit: Jared! I STILL <3 YOU...even if you become homeless. :3

We won't be hosting 2v2...but keep your hopes up for the team tournaments at the MINOR INSTALL! :3 Edit: I just got some SERIOUS news in and I have to cancel all future travel plans...this includes trying to run the MINOR install. Long story short, I'm in the red and I don't know if I'll make it out.

No. The only hint we got was, "Keep your hopes up at the next E3."

Next month is EVO, so I suggest we take a month long break and join in for a SUPER-HYPE ranbat at August. Also, it sucks that we can't use the MPR anymore, but I expected that coming sooner or later. If we still decide to host the event at July, then I suggest we do it on July 24th. Instead of T6, we'll put BB in the roster. We might as well bite the bullet and try four games on the lineup...

Good stuff Jared. Hope this event leveled up your sbo game. Also, James, ANY business has a right to refuse service to anyone. One of my former coworkers got a customer who wanted to buy freshly brewed coffee. She just made a new batch right before she came in, but the customer kept on insisting for her coffee. My buddy took her dollar out of her cash register and slammed it on the table saying, "You can take this dollar and shove it up your ass.". And, no, this did not happen at In-n-Out. The svgl manager is a cool guy and doesn't want to give him the boot. But the fact that the homeless guy comes to play marvel and puzzle fighter every day, for the past two years, tells me that he needs a wake up call. He needs to get, as much as I hate to say, psychiatric help. If he hasn't dealt with his post-traumatic stress from the Vietnam War, then he shouldn't be there in the first place.

Who is that guy?

We would still hold ranbats at Devry. But for the MINOR install, we could do a full one-day event. I'm still looking at fudds and other potential venues, but if we do host at a hotel, then everything MUST start on time to get the ball rolling. Edit: I'm, currently, placing a reservation at The Country Inn and Suites in Sunnyvale. For those of you who are not familiar with this venue, it was the same place where, "The Crazy Ass Fighting Game" tournament took place last year. If I get the green light, then we will be hosting our tournament at 8/7 from 10am - Midnight. I NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS! You might be asking, 'How can I help with a big event?' The answer is simple - spread the word and COME TO PLAY. I'm hoping for this event to extend to SoCal.
-
That's GOOD! Cause now I can start pitching our tournaments to hotels. :3
-
I will be done with my Saturday shift at 5pm. I will probably stick around for the CopperDabbit challenge, but I'll head off to Devry for the post-ranbat festivities. Also, we will move our - following - ranbat towards the end of July to make room for EVO. I suggest we move the date to July 24th because BBCS will be out on console...and they will join in on our ranbat.

...or just another josh ballard. :3

That toylet collectible place was pretty hype. :3

I actually asked that question. I forgot what their answer was...

Your troll was not as good as brett's troll, but it was still funny. The moment you said, "street fighter," at the aksys panel, everyone hated you. You need to troll harder next time, but the potemkin party question was retarded...like every other question.

u don't troll. u mad.

I am working full-time + part-time so I can no longer make it to NorCal INSTALL ranbats. But since other people are taking up the torch, I leave the fate of NorCal in your hands. The only thing I'm, still, trying to press for is the NorCal 'MINOR' Install Tournament.

Winners train Losers complain Does that make Ginseng a sore loser...and CopperDabbit a winner?
-
Here's hoping to see the dynamic duo come again next year. If they do, then I'm definitely going to make sure my time is available. I got slammed with work today, but twas alright. Playing SNR2 has inspired me to get an XBOX360. The game is amazing.

This matchup experience is all kinds of silliness because Tsubaki is low tier. And, for your information, it is not an overstatement. I believe this match is 3.5/6.5 in Taokaka's favor for more reasons than I can count taunt loops. Tactic #1: Jump - Tsubaki is ONLY a threat when she is up close and personal. Prevent her from mashing 50/50s by jumping. You might be asking, "is it that easy?" The answer, "YES!" replies Ginseng while in rage mode. Tactic #2: Damage - Even IF Tsubaki is close, she will always - always - do less damage than you. Her avg bnb without charge is 1.8k and 5k max off of meaties into Tsubaki-install mode. Tao's pokes and bnb do more damage...much more. Tactic #3: Reversal Options - Tsubaki HAS to play high risk to get average BnB damage. Whether it's an overhead, or unblockable setups, you can easily beat those options by IB -> reversal super/gold burst. Even if you don't have meter, then IB any meaties and punish with 2a. Tactic #4: 2a - You can shut down Tsubaki by mashing 2a. Why? Cause 2a is faster. Even if it wasn't faster, the worse that'll happen is that you'll trade hits. Speaking of which... Tactic #5: Trading hits - Trading hits stops Tsubaki's pressure. You CAN trade hits with her reversal DP. I know it sounds silly, but trading hits with Tsubaki is actually a good thing. For example, 6c trade hits with a DP. She gets knocked down while you're in hit stun. You get a free okizeme game and a potential tech punish. Tactic #6: Mobility > Rushdown - Taokaka drive attacks make it hard for Tsubaki to catch you. And since Taokaka's jump drive c. cancel give her + frames on block, you can always mash it and not get punished for using it. On the contrary, you can punish Tsubaki if she tries to poke you after she blocks the j.d~c. I can make the list go on till hell freezes over, but the ONLY way a Tsubaki player will win is either: (1) the person playing Taokaka is a...well, you know or (2) knows the match-up better. With that said, have fun.

Mash jump and drive. And obvious troll is obvious.
