  1. Waiting to punish against Jin is really just asking to be subject to endless pressure. Backdash and gtfo, then try to fight him in neutral. He still has the advantage there, but Jin's always been a character with very safe pressure in general.
  2. That part was amazing, yeah, but I think it might've been necessary too. Notice how Hakumen falls a bit before Azrael initiates BHS? The entire time he was doing valiant, I was thinking 'Damn, too high, probably not going to be able to finish it.' Still, did have to pause and re-watch a couple times the first time I saw it.
  3. That was the main thing I wanted to test, which characters were short enough when crouching that you could potentially hop over them with tk'd sentinel dump. Will be fun shenanigans.
  4. You only need to make it two lines down to see the person say Azrael is a 'stronger version of Hakumen' to know that dude got no clue. They're nothing alike.
  5. Amane very awkward in general. A lot of pokes have extended hitboxes with zones in the middle that don't actually have a hitbox, so it's not rare to see your pokes just fly straight through someone if not spaced perfectly (and then you'll generally get whiff punished). He also has unique movement. So you combine the odd pokes and precise spacing required to use them optimally (and if you don't use them optimally, you get exploded by counters) with the awkward movement and his neutral game can be pretty difficult to learn.
  6. I'm unsure if anyone else has posted this particular complaint, since I haven't read every single word of every post, but 10 minutes is flat-out not enough for a character tutorial, let alone a comprehensive one.
  7. Wow. I was legitimately expecting the worst with Azrael's backdash due to Tager's getting hit so hard the nerfbat, but he just got the somewhat universal extended duration by 2 frames. Very interesting. Very excited for patch, if only because I'll be able to actually use hornet and not worry about whiffing my hit by a pixel every time :D
  8. Backdash and 360A invul during predictable blockstrings were basically his only defensive options. Nobody good falls for raw 360A with any sort of consistency, and now his backdash is significantly easier to OS. He's going to be pretty free to characters with good pressure, since now the only reliable option will probably be IB until you can alpha counter or whatever it's called
  9. If you're talking about pre-patch, I was (barely) breaking 3k off of 5A combos with magnetism, and it's unlikely they were perfect.
  10. yeah, why the shit do they nerf his backdash after 5 games lol. gotta love ASW balancing, never know what's going to happen
  11. More mashable since it's slower than 5A, but yeah, without the jump cancel in there it will take longer for Azrael to recover and be able to do a normal special move, giving more time to be countered.
  12. I believe Tao is the one character that can still punish Growler on CH.
  13. Explanations do help (when is more information not a good thing?), but the lack of them does not immediately disregard his opinion either. If I was going to guess, it's largely due to the way Azrael functions as a character. The first hit can decide the entirety of the match a lot of the time. This holds true with Valkenhayn and Taokaka regardless of their tier placings, because they lack a reversal. If Azrael gets the first hit in neutral, it's not an illogical assumption to believe a high tier Azrael like Dogura just won that round. From there, it's simply about deciding how difficult it is to get the first hit in these match-ups. If he feels it's a 50/50 chance to grab a hit, then it stands to reason that he'd believe the match-up is an even 5/5. Regardless, any chart or data provided by a single person is bound to be subject to opinion and may not be entirely accurate, and there are legitimate arguments to be made one way or the other (also plenty of bad ones to get in the way), and that's why any tier listings or match-up charts etc. are going to be scrutinized extremely carefully and debated amongst the people that care. I disagreed with his tier list, and I can find a couple things to disagree with in this chart as well, but to discount it solely because he doesn't provide an essay and cite sources isn't very conducive either.
  14. Shit, Tager with Azrael's backdash would suck. Oh damn I just backdashed out of my own effective neutral range, fml.
  15. The backdash change thing could mean anything. Some could get nerfed, some could get buffed, some could go untouched. It's impossible to know until they either release the data themselves or someone gets their hands on it and releases the info.
  16. okay but what does over mean that's not a number this is so confusing I'M NOT A NUCLEAR PHYSICIST
  17. The worst part is how many people are bitching about Gustaf, of all things. It is an option to be used sparingly and unpredictably because of how absurdly easy it is to just neutral jump and punish overuse of it, and y'all treating it like it's the best neutral tool in the game. And seriously, 'this character has it worse so it's just not fair' is such a shit argument. That is an argument for buffs for that character, not for nerfs to another. If the character's options are blatantly too good, that is an argument for nerfs. Azrael is good. Very good, it's why he's A-tier despite having the worst neutral game in the list of S/A tier characters. But he does not possess anything that could even be remotely called OP, and y'all looking like a bunch of crybabies right now. edit: I'm also with mac, the hell do those numbers mean?
  18. A tier. And setting up oki that bodies growler's hilariously shitty hitbox is beyond easy, and from there it's just figuring out your options if they backdash instead of growler. Welcome to wake-up, a lot of the times it's a guess with a decent amount of risk involved, and expecting to be given your offense for free instead of having to put some thought into it is absurd. It's not a single player game. If you do want that game, pick Valkenhayn. His backdash is certainly extremely good, but arguing about that when we're sitting on a change that literally says 'backdash distances and invul times adjusted' that could mean anything is ridiculous. For all we know they already nerfed his backdash and you're all complaining about nothing (there's a new event)
  19. most people tend to be wrong when they on the hate train for a character, no need to bother arguing or bringing it up. let the post fly and just discuss shit worth discussing
  20. There was mention of both 3C and Miquelet Capture getting improved projectile invulnerability, but iirc wasn't that previous list of changes just speculation off a little playtime with the patched version? Might've just been mistaken or something.
  21. I'm not sure if I dig the uncharged 5C not moving forward as far. Does that mean it might not combo off a max range 5B hit? Unless it's similar to Tao and you can combo into the charged version. I'm also curious to find out if Blackout takes the drive as well as requires it, or if you get to keep level 2 afterward. All in all, I dunno how much help that'll give her. Her major problem is the difficulty in the neutral game without drive levels, and that doesn't really appear to have changed at all. Guess we'll see.
  22. hmmmmmmmm I wonder if Growler change would let you RC and then 22C
  23. As a long-time Tager player, you are beyond crazy if you believe those changes aren't OP as fuck and even merit discussion.
  24. Gonna just write stuff down as I see it, so it might be disjointed 1st and 2nd rounds of you playing, you could've ended it with BHS both times, and you instead went a different way and did a regular combo ender instead. It wasn't too bad, since you did end up winning them both, but you were in a position where it could've easily gone the other player's way both rounds as well. You ended up astralling at the end of round 3, but that could've been done in the preceding combo as well and would've saved you getting thrown back into neutral by the burst. Just be more aware of your options. Man for realsies, why do you hate BHS you could've ended so many rounds by just doing 5BB BHS D: yaaaay you used one right at the end of the video You also try to pre-empt a lot of things, mostly spark bolts, and you had around a 10% success rate. Honestly, that Tager should've brutalized you for every one (aside from the full-screen ones cause lolTager). It's really not bad since you got away with it most of the time, but a stronger player would take your lunch money for it. (which leads into my next point) That Tager is either new to the game or to the character, because their neutral game was very meh. They also should've been abusing backdash as much as you were for punishes on a lot of what you were doing, you got away with murder there. I can't say this 100%, but I feel like every single 6C should've been a free backdash > 360B punish. Just seems extremely dangerous to be doing. They also should've been blowing you up a lot with 2C, since that would've reached you even when you tried to mess up their 2A timing with j.2C. It's difficult to do online, and I have no idea how lively Europe's BB scene is, but grinding it out with stronger players is far more advantageous if you're looking to improve than people who let you get away with so many things you shouldn't. Confirms, confirms, confirms. Also execution. I cry every time I see a dropped TCL, and I didn't see you confirm a fatal 6C bounce once. There were also a few crouching combos that should've lead into 3C. Maximizing damage is vital, especially against Tager when it's so dangerous to be getting into range for you to hit in the first place.
  25. You're really not looking to find big combos from the mid-range neutral game. Azrael's pretty wonky mid-range, so your plan of attack really shouldn't be looking for some big combo off any stray hit, but rather to put someone in blockstun/get a hit that allows you to get into the short-range pressure game where Azrael excels. That's not to say it isn't possible. 5C > Gustaf > RC is fantastic if you get it, or confirming a 5C fatal properly, but most normal hits are just to put the opponent into a situation where you can safely get in their face and go nuts.
