despite the nerf, w5b is probably still one of the best anti-airs in the game lolol (actually, is there a better one now? still a 7 frame anti-air). forgot to mention. faster recovery on 2b feels way better, and it's a lot safer to stick out as a poke now. still slow overall, but you can probably use it to low profile under more things now. and 6b(1)+6B(2) > 5c > tk mondlicht doesn't work on relius because tk mondlicht will whiff on him crouching. omit the first j.A so you do (w)5B > jB > 3C > jA > (h)2C. you CAN add the jA i think, but you'd have to really delay the jA after the 3C in order for that to work, and it'll probably only work in the corner on the majority of characters. midscreen you should do (w)5B > IAD > jB > 3C > jA > (h)2C > 6C to get the right spacing for everything. you can omit the IAD on characters with big hitboxes midscreen, and you can omit it in the corner (delay your jA a bit if you do), but it's better to keep things consistent with the IAD.

we don't get a lot of foreign players coming up to Canada aside from random gg players who come for sf4/marvel (e.g. marlinpie, nerdjosh), so it'd be nice to see some more foreign faces. dunno about that spring toronto tourney pedro, but i'll find out about it. although toronto's main major is the "T" series (Toronto fighting game championships), it may or may not happen next year because there might not be an organizer to take up the helm. we'll have to wait and see.

"wow i really can't get in" "you weren't suppose to in the first place!" loll for what it's worth, when jC trades with w5B, it felt like you couldn't follow it up (maybe you can, but i wasn't really ready for it). i'm willing to bet valk can only combo on trade if he trades with a level 1 or level 2 attack.

so i kept ending up running out of wolf bar a lot lol. gonna repost this from Nokita for reference here: So I tried just flying all over the place and I found that often ended up in situations where I would finally get a hit in and i wouldn't have enough meter to do the ending Rasen (e.g. 7C~D jB jB jC) and would end up running out of wolf meter. I actually think it's now never gonna be worth it to do cannon combo into 7C wjB wjB land human 5B in the corner now because it just takes too much wolf gauge. Extending your combos in human form is a lot more important (which is what the jC relaunch buff is for). 7C~D jB jB jC should probably just be replaced with 5C rasen as well. I couldn't do the jC > 5B relaunch. Feels pretty hard, but I think it's just a matter of figuring out the spacing. Aside from that Valk is really fun. All the changes/nerfs/buffs feel noticeable, but he feels about the same and 3C > 236A feels great. Just don't use Eisen anymore (thank god). I do admit I would sometimes do a eisen wolf out of habit (bad bad habit), and get blown up for it.

I went into NEC with very little expectations, but it seems that with every major I go to, I just have more fun than the last major. For anyone I didn't introduce myself properly to, I was the Asian dude wearing a blue beret playing a mediocre Valk and Anji lol. Some shoutouts: Shoutouts first of all to Stickbug for running a really tight tourney and for always being hilarious. Great job as always. Shoutouts to Xie for bringing EX, being a general chill guy, and being an overall great player as well. Wouldn't have had as much fun at NEC without EX this year. Shoutouts to UNLIMITED MARS! never have I seen a 1p mode in a fighting game become so HYPE. Shoutouts to ESS KAY DEE for being GADLIKE and congrats on winning. Shoutouts to MTL! Repping Canada better than TO ever could, good shit. You guys are the main reason I had so much fun at NEC this year, and I can't wait to drink with you guys again. for taokaka's case, i'm pretty sure it's intended. that CA was really really good in CS2 (only -3 on block, big hit box), so arc sys decided to nerf both of those aspects (more recovery, smaller hitbox). along with the guard primer removal in csex, it's just their way of saying "stop relying on CA for defense". i guess they tried to balance this out by giving tao more incentive to use meter offensively with the new ab2 confirms.

Happens with Valk's CA too. There's a sweet spot where you can make his CA whiff if you have an attack that moves your hurtbox forward (e.g. Ragna's 5C or 5B).

you've played against mine? then yea, i agree, i'm bad anyways i'll be at NEC. i tend to be wolf happy (i mash d a lot), so i'll see if the wolf meter usage really affects my playstyle. yup, this combo existed in cs2 as well (except instead of j.C > 5B, it'd be w5B x 2 > 5B), and it was always the most optimal combo midscreen, but only a few valk's actually bothered doing it. the combo's probably become more important though because of the j.C > 5B relaunch though as you've pointed out. just some extra info for everyone else: 6B(1) is required for characters where 5C > tk Mondlicht whiffs on them crouching: Litchi, Mu, Platinum, Noel, Jin (does not whiff on fatal), and Valkenhayn. On everyone else, you can add the 6B(2) for more damage. this also means the combo won't work on the above listed characters if you catch them crouching. if they're already crouching though, might as well just confirm into Rosen and save meter.
