i like how everyone in the bb community has these big shit eating grins on their faces in most of the pictures. meanwhile, everyone else at the tourney is so serious. that's why i like you guys. <3

that's mfw i end up watching 2 really dumb match-ups in winners/losers/grand finals (noel vs tager lol, arakune vs tager LOL). anyways i guess since there's not going to be a proper results thread, thanks to brice/pochp/calm101 for coming out. hope you guys work on the mu/valk match-up with sophisticat. brice stay gdlk, akira for sbo . cambridge, sorry about the way the brackets worked out for you guys . gj at taking out pui early though (prob the first tourney in a year where he didn't end up on top lol)! toronto, step up or stay free.

the reason they're probably teching is because you're not waiting to land before doing the 2nd cannon. i.e. first cannon should be an air cannon cause you're doing mondlicht > 5/6d > 236a (you're in the air because of the 5/6d), and after you do the first 236a, you wait till you land on the ground before inputting the next 236a, which gives you the ground version of the cannon. afterwards, the rest is straight forward.

like this like that *arm swing*

casuals would be dependent on someone bringing a crt to the venue on the 16th. i'll find out about it. and i'm not that good at gg lol. toronto does have a bunch of good players, it's just everyone's stopped going to the arcade due to a lack of a cs2 cabinet, so gg's been dead for a while (it's hard to lug around a crt set-up to venues). i think we're really weak in cs2 though due to the fact that we lost the arcade environment. the scene isn't dead though, we're trying to keep the community alive with biweekly console ranbats now, and a few of the players here are upping their game (not me though lol, sitting at home watching k-dramas zzzz). you'll see for youself soon enough i guess lol. -

on the 16th, i doubt there's gonna be a gg tourney. if there's gonna be another gg tourney, it'll be at t12. gg's kind of dead here in toronto though. i barely touch the game now (only touched at mtl for the past 6 months or so). keep playing though it's fun. -

brice most of the potemkin character specific stuff is already posted in like 1 or 2 posts on this page by poscrub (mostly taken from the wiki or kawin's site): http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?2323-ACCENT-CORE-General-Discussion/page16 some if it is slightly out of date though (e.g. Potemkin Buster FRC >2S>2HS>Heat Knuckle works on Sol, Testament and Eddie), and I think I made my own set of notes to verify a few things but generally speaking you can rely on those 2 posts for combos that you really want. aside from that just watch videos. honestly you don't need much more than the stuff listed unless you want really want advanced unpractical combo vid stuff. edit: oh and i see you're asking about May in the pot forums? apparently if she switches from block > non-blocking animation correctly, she dodges slidehead. some sort of weird glitch. that's probably what you're encountering. -
big enough that i'm jelly.

I don't play Tager anymore, and I know everyone's talking about Tager's viability, but Akira qualified for SBO! Celebrations are in order for one of my favorite players. Hope he doesn't get taken out round 1.

damnit hermes. i want a mod sized narsha avatar

Just because a grappler has a good match-up, doesn't mean he's going to win it. The problem with grapplers a lot of the time is that even with match-ups that are in their favor, they just can't win in a stable fashion. Too much is left to chance. And if you look at Noel and the randomness involved with her damaging drives once you get in (the randomness is minimized with the threat of Tager's sledge sure, but it's still there), you can see that the match-up isn't exactly a stable match-up for Tager. Amusing match though. I enjoyed the 5a mash whiff to flitter the best.

the alcohol (+headphones) was actually a serious experiment that failed horribly and went awry in all possible manners. apologies to k2. so i won't be intoxicated at the next tourney. hope that relieves everyone. edit: damnit kyle, why the backpedal. ok but i'm still learning half the cast for fun.

just some shoutouts to the not-so-frequent faces, cause i see everyone else so often: tager rangers are dead, u are the sole king of tager brian. come to more tournaments. fuck tager though :/. let's play more on xbl lol. thanks to cambridge for showing up and having some other faces than the usual people that appear these past few weeks. now that kyle's using valk, 3 valks seems a bit excessive, so i think it's time to learn a new character for me lol. oh and shoutouts to party rock and shots shots shots.
-
chyeaaaaaa brian, i've been saying u da best tager in toronto for a year now, 'bout time you proved me right. STAYGDLK, and win me money in the future.

Shuu shows up in these vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2IFj3iILqo#t=37m55s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70hRPoebPao http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh5XhjhCIXo#t=2m55s He generally only shows up in Acho videos with a blue/best color (sometimes the yellow one). I enjoy watching the decisions he makes. For instance, he tends to confirm into the IAD wolf loop a lot for wall carry (and to conserve the wolf gauge), and likes ending combos with wolf IAD j.B 3c j.A j.236D (purple grab, where if they tech, he just does j.C immediately after to stuff any post air throw tech shenanigans).
-
Masashi's solid, but he's lacking something that makes him an S-Class player IMO. I personally think the 2nd best Valk (the ones that show up on video anyways) is Shuu, who's the 5th highest ranked Valk on the PSR leaderboards. He shows up occasionally in Gameacho vids. His wolf movement is probably the best I've seen, and he has a lot of interesting set-ups.
-
That's exactly why we're asking. We have a monitor with no PS3 lol. Kellfire: We want casuals going during the tournament as well so people get more play time. ANYWAYS, I'M GOING TO BE DRUNK AT THIS TOURNAMENT. FREE WINS FOR EVERYONE .

Yea, 22A can catch wolf form at the beginning of the match. 22A by Tsubaki also beats most of Valk's 5C/3C at the beginning of the match. But yea, as you mentioned, Tsubaki's will generally only charge after knockdown or when they're a full screen away, and I'm just saying the most ideal scenario is that Valk should stay within ranges where Tsubaki is discouraged from charging. This is easier said than done, and I'm not providing any fool proof way of locking the opponent down immediately, it's up to the player to make a good read and get in (while being careful of Tsubaki's various specials and pokes). The main point I wanted to make was the moment she gets room to breathe and charge, the neutral game becomes harder for Valk, and the Valk player shouldn't be playing passively in this match-up (though there aren't many passive valks lol).
-
Yea, I agree with the above: she controls a lot of space with her specials, and it makes it so that her neutral game isn't that bad against the wolf form. Best thing to do in this match-up IMO is to lock her down from the beginning of the match to prevent her from getting her getting any charges. Once you get corner knockdown, you just need to be on point and make sure your attacks are meaty. For oki, do an instant j.C if you think she's going to uppercut (will make it whiff and stuff it completely if you do it correctly, sometimes it'll trade). You can also do a wolf 4C to bait the uppercut, but sometimes they'll wake-up 236/214 in an attempt to stuff the wolf 4C. If you think the Tsubaki is going to go for these options on wake-up in reaction to your wolf form, go for a wolf A or command grab to stuff either option.
