  1. hm, 5B connects into 623A in CS1, doesn't it? I remember doing it sometimes, i mean, even 2A goes into if you do it fast enough. the new hotaru coutner combo sounds ridiculously easier now that I don't have to time/space my jump after it. I'm glad the ridiculousboat 6C is gone, I missed the old one. 5A 6C as anti-air is kind of...I don't know, ridiculously good, though. 5A is already really good right now. "3C: wider reach. Can combo into 2B only if counter hit" oh godammit.
  2. you could also try changing the way you hold the controller/stick. It means you have to re-learn everything else, too; but if you can't do hop cancel well, you're not utilizing a big arsenal of Hakumen's strength. Either way you're going to need practicing.
  3. Jump back barrier is usually the safest option for match starter. You poke or go aggressive when you think you know what the player is going to do; it has more to do with your strategy than matchups, though you do have to take into account what each character can do. Using your example, if you think your poke will hit litchi, then go ahead, but do remember that her low poke is not only faster, it dodges your 4C. There's never a completely safe option, but there are some really safe ones, like 3C for Tager.
  4. well, I thought you would know; it's not important enough to ask an entire board, and again, I'm not really a regular ragna. It started off with 2D counter > IAD > berial edge, I think. It was just kind of weird.

  5. @mjting: From the information about the supposedly BBCSII changes (in the news thread in general), it's actually quite the opposite; backthrow is now comboable normally at corners, amongst other things.
  6. updates (as of yesterday) include: -Platinum's story mode dialogue (which is weird, because the format's it in arcade mode's...or rather, since it's in the arcades, there should not be a different story mode) -some aesthetic and system changes -BBCSII's character buffs and debuffs (huge lists of debuffs) + Platinum's movelist
  7. Combos? What are those.
  8. That sounds really hard to do, but I'll practice.
  9. Personally, I think that if you can play on the clusterfuck stages BB and GG has, you should have no problem playing on one that doesn't have a damn thing. Part of playing fighting games is to DEAL WITH IT; some players don't play sticks (ha), sometimes you play on an unfamiliar screen, sometimes there's different pings and reaction times, and sometimes you have to take a shit. Part of playing fighting games and competing in it, in my opinion, is to always perform as best as you can under different circumstances, as long as they are not outright atrocious. Sports athletes always have to compete in different places in different conditions, I don't see why a competitive game can't do the same. And as mentioned, you shouldn't have any problems with the training stage if you can stand all those other stages. So I say no ban; but I don't mind either way.
  10. 2A's unsafe as a tech roll wakeup counter; a fistful of snakes and dividers in my face if I try. What I do now when I get corner pressure is pretty much backstep and then...wait. Since Hakumen has 4C and j.C now, it's easier to keep the opponent in the corner; much safer and productive in the long term than trying for oki with his limited options. But if you really want to try stop tech rolls, I'd recommend 2B, actually; the one that didn't work for you. It has a rather weird timing, but since it's hitbox is so low and small, a lot of moves go over hakumen, so you can cancel into 2A>grab or 214A (I think...) or Renka for further damage. I'd like to think it's the best option for countering rolls. Problem with this is that I know this Hazama who's trigger happy with Jayoku, so wake up game is just a plain bad idea for me nowadays.
  11. Huh, a 1. I'll try that. Talking about wake up game, I thought Hakumen doesn't really have one. Both 6A and 5C (and 2B; see Houtenjin) are really vulnerable to wake up counters, so I never actually use them in an actual game; and if I remember right, quick tech also makes the poke come out faster than either of the two. So if there actually a more assuring wake up game??
  12. This is a really amateur question, so even if I'm not exactly new...but what's a good way to practice 2C>s.j.2A? it's one of those really useful links that I never bothered to learn. Normally when you do 2C>j.2A, you do a motion of 2>8(or 7, 9)>2, but I'm not exactly sure about super jumping after that; I assume it's 2>5>2>8...but I'm not exactly "which" way to do that. edit: MacChaos; it might make sense if you also explain to them why it's considered canceling; there's a start up to each move, and canceling takes away from that start up, hence why it's called cancelling.
  13. It's not a logic, it's just raw data. I'm not saying Hakumen doesn't go on offense. And like you said, j.2C is not a general option for going in (without big risks, it's good if you know what you're doing, yeah) When did I say Hakumen sits on his ass? I just said he's a counter character, naturally because his has an entire button mapped towards that function. We all know that (right?), so "why is Arcsys trying to make him into something that isn't that?" is the question...None of what I said actually contrasts yours...because I agree with you. So I don't even know why you're bringing them up while quoting me... Maybe you are seeing things dude, take it easy, I don't even know what you're defending here. edit: in fact, none of this has to do with loketest, I'm so confused now.
  14. It's 3C>2B>214A>66, right? edit: Sophisticat you're right, sorry, I keep confusing those motions, haha. Maybe that's why Spark was confused, too.
  15. Hey, just had a short question: I played someone...forgot his name, but he had this weird 2D combo; do you happen to know how to do it? I wish I recorded it, but I forgot. I play Hakumen, but it just looked so nice that I'm curious. There was some ridiculous amount of stun time in the combo.

  16. People get the wrong impression probably because they precisely didn't improve his meter gain from being offensive. His damage dealing C being faster doesn't change the fact that a lot of moves have higher priority or invincibility when you account for situations when Hakumen CAN go on offensive in a match (I think this was more obvious in CT since his zoning was subpar then; but now that you have j.C, you don't HAVE to go in; yet it doesn't change the fact that Hakumen's still not very good at being full-on offensive, isn't that what Zanshin is for?). If they're trying to make Hakumen more offensive, taking defense buffs from him isn't exactly the right way to do it. It seems kind of contradictory to do that, too, since Hakumen was "made" to be a counter-offensive chara, like I said, that's why his special move is a counter move. Taking its capabilities away hardly seems like a logical progression for him.
  17. Huh..I think I understand it a little bit, but that's still pretty weird, and wouldn't that affect 236A first?
  18. did they make dash cancel on ground (even) harder? The guy kept dropping it (3C>2B>236A>66), and normally I'd think he's just being shitty, but then again I thought the Hazama in the loketests was just scrubby until I realize they lol dropped his BnB; this could be the same case.
  19. [lol] But I rely on D to get into combos! [/lol] Seriously, though, if they're going to do that, why even put D in there? People already avoid using D usually; doing this will pretty much just get Hakumen a huge handicap. I can't imagine Tsubaki sliding....it's a downward slam; maybe if it bounced, but it knocks the opponent away?
  20. Videos can be... * High Definition * Up to 2 GB in size. * Up to 15 minutes in length. * A wide variety of formats ^ it's in the upload section. So I think it'll be okay to keep them 10 minutes, Rin, right? edit: oh yeah skullgirls looks amazing, keep at it!
  21. I'm so bitter. But then again, I sucked. Which I knew was going to happen. It was a nice experience. Won't mind going to watch again. Really amazing matches there, though. IB>EVERYTHING all day amirite.
  22. I just want 401k, can we make a compromise?
  23. Only if you don't include the bass.
  24. Hype for the tournament? No fucking way, I'm getting hyped for some good commentating. Also 4C through everyfuckingthing gogotagerhakumen.
