  1. d~b mixups (whether it's 5d~b or, 2d~b, or others) are extremely useful against her if she's trying to anticipate you. Most of the moves they use take a long recovery, if they whiff they're wide open for punishment (5b as usual, or if they're whiffed a long recovery move even 6c). But yeah, it's high-risk/high-reward, chances are that a smart Nu player might be baiting our drive moves and punish them.

A good one could be: 5b -> 3c -> 5d~6 -> j.c -> 236b -> 2d~b -> 5b -> 2d~9 -> j.c -> 9d~9 -> j.c -> 9d~9 -> 236bb -> 236bbb or 5b -> 3c -> 6d~6 -> 2d~b -> 5b -> 3d~9 -> (j.c -> 9d~9) x2 -> j.236bb -> j.236bbb However it depends on how much you're lagging. I only attempt these two combos if I have little lag since the 2d~b or the j2d~b are really a pain in the butt to come out properly if there's weird delay. Or, quoting Sileh from the combo thread: These ones should be easier to pull off although they certainly do less damage (because of 6a's proration, I suppose). Usually if you're including 6a in your combo it's a good thing to use atleast one taunt in order to have better damage proration. Taunt combos work fine as well, although I still have to test them online for the same reasons I stated above. :X
  3. Once you get the timing for the drive loop it becomes really easy and you can set it up from a lot of situations. However, be prepared to struggle a bit online if your connection isn't decent or if you encounter a slight delay then even the drive loop will be troublesome to pull off (I'm afflicted by lag as I live in Europe and there aren't a lot PAL players around).
  4. Guys, a question for you. I've just started learning Rachel and I'm having a look at the huge list of combos that are presented here. I've been wondering what should be the first BnB's that I should be learning that are actually useful in game, atleast to get the hang of how Rachel plays.
  5. Guys, quick question. Against Noel's 2D (her drive overhead), is it better to block (maybe IB, but it's kind of a gamble online for me), or to barrier guard?
  6. Yes he does have a small hitbox, albeit not as small as Noel's or Rachel's, but still small enough to cause the usual Tao's drive loop to drop early. :psyduck: I'll have to hit training mode and drill some specific combos for him and the other "midgets" (in terms of hitbox). :v:

  7. Ahah thanks but I kinda sucked. I need to learn more combos against Jin, all I was able to do was mixing you up as more as I could but I lacked the finishing blow because Jin has a small hitbox and Tao's standard combos hardly work on him (and if we add the online lag it even gets worse). I need to work on some better combos on him and on the other small hitbox chars (Noel, Rachel, Carl). :psyduck: And yeah, I definetely hate the Ice Car spammers, they ruin this game and even the character's reputation. Anyway, tomorrow I'll add you on the PSN, I hope you don't mind if we spar again some other time, I'm sure I can learn plenty on the Jin matchup with you, plus you're european as well so I should get little lag. :D

  10. Guys, what are some decent combos against Rachel? I admit I haven't fought a lot of them so far online, but maybe it's the lag or maybe it's me sucking but it seems like I can't seem to get atleast two drive loops on her, when I happen to hit her with 5b->3c->5d~6-> etc. I also want to say that I still want to stay away from j.2d~b combos when playing online because the random delay just screws the timing I am learning offline... :\
  11. What character are you trying this on? That could also be a reason. Characters with small hitboxes have a tricky timing when landing the j.c during a drive loop. Anyway, you should be able to get to that second j.c with all of the characters. Just make you sure do the j.c right as Tao's spinning animation has completed, input the j.c and then you can calmly input the following drive move since the j.c does leave the opponent in stun animation for enough time for you to pull off your next move without having to rush the execution.
  12. Did you test this with the characters' tech activated? I doubt they wouldn't tech away after the first aerial grab...
  13. Thanks a lot I'll keep these pointers in mind. I think I have to stay more patient. For some reason I kind of get scared of her pokes which helps her slowly pushing me towards the corner. I realize though that I do not use the 5d~b drive a lot, maybe I could make use of it when she whiffs a move and I'm too far away to try a quick dash->5b->combo...
  14. I fought one today and I kind of got half-raped, for similar reasons stated by Aznboi281. I could hardly manage to put some pressure on her because she has some great tools to keep me at distance and get counterhits. And yeah, air to air battles are kind of a pain in the butt. I realized too late that against her it's better to bait her stuff and then immediately punish, rather than trying to constantly pressure her up. Needs lot of patience. Also, any tips on how to escape from her corner pressure? She seems to have any answer whether I tech on the spot, roll away, whatever...

  16. That's happened to me as well. I think it depends on what's your distance from the opposite wall. If you're far I think it's safer to directly do a 5d~6 (following with its usual combo/routes) after the 6C... if you're are closer then I guess doing the 236CC->2d~9 route might be more convenient since the opponent shouldn't be able to recover in time.
  17. It should be 2 hits. If it's only one hit usually it's specified by indicating 6a(1).
