  1. Control is probably the closest thing to "tachimawari", just keep in mind that when they talk about it it's always strictly correlated with risk/reward. For instance, Chipp is regarded as having a good tachimawari because he has good normals, teleports (and now "invisibility" too), speed, he can easily disrupt an opponent's flow but his reward, besides switching momentum in his favour, is not as amazing as others', so it's likely that certain characters won't still respect some of Chipp's choices because of this. Sol is up there because he's well rounded and he gets a good to great reward from a good variety of scenarios and he doesn't really need to take huge risks. A few weeks ago Eki-chan was making a short comparison on twitter between Sol and Ky and pretty much the difference on which character felt slightly "better" boiled down to that. Both with good tachimawari, but Sol with much better reward compared to Ky. I guess this is also one of the reasons why Eki-chan switched from Millia to Faust, as he was complaining he was having a tough time fighting Sol/Ky since these characters just won't respect Millia at all, he found Faust to be a good character to keep control without getting frustrated.
  2. It's going to take a while because it's really, really long.

  6. No, not just that. As I said, it's the quality of a character's moveset and options and the risk/reward attached to it in every situation (neutral, defense, abare, offense). But this is a really badly summarized version of what tachimawari implies. There's a reason why there are longass articles in japanese, and it's because it's something you just can't easily convey in one sentence. I'm condensing and leaving out a lot of details because it's a concept that cannot be easily summarized. Once I'll be done translating that article I'll post it here somewhere (or ask the staff to put it as article on DL's frontpage). You can think of this backwards: the more you're forced to respect another character in a wider variety of situations (defense, offense, neutral, movement etc) the better his tachimawari is, because it means that he/she gets a better reward (at your expenses) than you do.
  7. Because it's not. "Tachimawari" is a term that's not been properly translated in other languages because it sums up a lot of situations. There's a long article that I'm translating that talks about tachimawari in general in fighting games. If you want a uncomplete summary of its meaning, tachimawari is a character's ability of controlling the flow of the match (and this doesn't mean only neutral, it applies to all aspects including offense and defense) with the least risks while getting the best return. Characters with good tachimawari are not just characters that are good at neutral, they are characters that are good at keeping/switching the momentum in their favour because of the quality of their moves. If you want an even more badly summed up definition, tachimawari = the quality of a character's moves and movement in terms of risk/return. In Sol's case he's regarded as having one of the best tachimawari in Xrd because of the quality of his moves and normals. He can control the flow/switch fhe flow of the match well with a good/great reward for not as much risk.
  8. There's JUN and AGF playing Millia, besides Daiji. There's also this "unnamed" GG Player at Akihabara's HEY who's second ranked Millia in the whole country (wonder if it's the same "Saint" Millia that Nakamura wants to see in action), no idea who he might be though. If any of the users here who lives in Tokyo or nearby could visit that arcade maybe we could learn a bit about his identity. :X
  9. He cited as reasons that: - he has more fun using Faust, feels less frustrating and more rewarding overall - Millia is strong but he feels like he can't bring out all of her potential, and with her tachimawari being weaker than other characters he feels like no matter how much effort you put she can still lose to silly things because of that (specially against Sol and Ky). He blames mostly himself though rather than the character. On the other hand, Nakamura might finally be giving Xrd Millia a shot, though he still isn't excited he clearly said he hasn't given up on the idea yet.

  15. So basically she still managed to activate Chroming Rose and she doesn't get CH'd because she was already past her recovery frames...?
  16. Actually Machaboo has been "hopping" a lot from one character to another in Xrd. Started with Ky, switched to Millia and now to Sol. I think he's simply trying them all.
  17. I think he is. According to Eki-chan (top ranked Millia) the two best characters in the game are Zato and Sol. In Sol's case he says his tachimawari is simply among the best if not the best. But does this tier list really matter that much? For instance, Millia might be regarded as "top" but she seems to have bad matchups against Sol/Ky/May/Slayer (again source is Eki-chan). The "worst" characters in this game can still win and it doesn't feel like there are extremely fucked up matchups.
  18. Daiji has been using Millia pretty well, I don't know if he plans to make the switch to Valentine though.

  20. They shouldn't be able to do that. If the opponent can comfortably chicken block away then either the Millia inputted H Tandem too late or didn't get a proper knockdown in the first place. Worst case scenario it "might" happen against certain characters off 2D knockdown, but then you can just YRC and do 5K/5S, but if it's off throw/jH knockdown I really can't see the opponent getting easily away like that unless the Millia player is sleeping. Besides, TK Badmoon/5K should be enough to lock them in place, given that H Tandem now hits twice too. There's also the option of doing an empty IAD to cross them up and hit them with the disc. Anyway I'm going to watch the latest batch of vids I've uploaded/linked and see if I can find this scenario occurring, just to be sure.

  22. It's a patch that besides adding Valentine and tweaking a few general system mechanics only fixes bugs and glitches, so if there wasn't any notes don't expect a "real" rebalance anytime soon.
  23. It does say that players should be updating their profile card (I've omitted that part because it's not really that relevant gameplay-wise) so it might imply a reset. [edit] argh, double post again. Uninteded, my bad.
  24. Could be. Sadly it doesn't really get into much detail other than saying "we fixed it and it works like this".
  25. Honestly I have no idea. But it clearly said "it solely targets the character" so I really can't think of what sort of bug it used to create before this patch.
