  1. Trying out Lightning some more today, here's some neat stuff: COM: Not much to say, except that it feels like this Paradigm was built specifically for assists in combos, decent range with the Blazefire Saber in the air, though. Ruinaga packs a decent hitstun wallop though, despite being slow to fire. RAV: Wow, so many good combo setups, the arsenal they give you is actually on par with The Emperor, Shantotto, or Terra. Waterga acts like a homing shield (if it's reflected back at you, be sure to reflect it with block again), and it bounces back any spells thrown your way (except HP attacks of course). Mixing Waterga with Blizzaga or Aeroga seemed to build up my Assist Gauge really fast, and using WoL assists in conjunction with the spells broke many enemies rather easily. Also not sure but it looks like Blizzaga has vacuum properties (like Exdeath's Void Gravity thingie). MED: Still tinkering with this, but you really need to get used to the new stage terrain in places to find a good spot to restore your BP or boost it. The A.I. isn't that smart, but guys like Sephiroth or Emperor can be a pain if they break out Meteor or Starfall. I suppose because of how little BP she gets with COM, it's a needed help but...RAV really works better in this case. She can still use HP attacks as Med too. HP Attacks: Again, pretty straight forward, her Aerial rush move isn't very safe though. EX Burst: Still haven't figured out how to do the full combo yet, random commands show up and screw me up. Is that Analog Stick+Circle?
  2. More stuff after having beaten 30 level 50-60 baddies (in a row...without leveling up ;_; ) : I need to confirm this, but it seems Jecht can delay charge some of his brave attacks for critical hit startup. Knowing when the combo is gonna come is a lot harder now. He has some kind of aerial sphere blast HP attack to look out for now (huge hitbox, like Emperor's Flare). A.I. still falls for WoL's Light Shield HP Attack spam (bouncing off my shield a lot), but Jecht has on occasion somehow airdashed around the shield and hit me. Combos+Orphan's Cradle+Smashing into Abyss warp points = low brave. D: Ultimecia has a wierd new positional pire thingie...when she forms it it takes the position of a physical object in space and you get "poked" and lose brave points whenever you fall on it or go near it...it's kindof like setting up a Spike Pit somewhere and using her swords to make you run into it by mistake...it's kinda interesting. Like I said before, about Exdeath, he can warp-hit twice in succession and link to either his Tornado or an HP Attack, and sometimes he does all three, or if you attack where he's going to warp, he'll use Omni-Guard instead. Advanced Stuff: I'm learning how to use Assist Break so that, if I get hit, I use Assist Break right away so my Assist takes the hit, then counter with my own combo while the opponent is still in their attack frames from the last attack, this basically makes Omni-Slash Ver. 5 almost useless if you got Assist meter. As for using Assist Attacks, Assist Brave Attacks cost one Bar, Assist HP Attacks cost two Bars, and in higher levels, A.I. will eat right through your Assists, just warning you. So far I've only seen Laguna/Yuna as Assists in this Demo, so no idea what they'll do otherwise. Bartz has one of Laguna's lazer slice attacks in his arsenal though.
  3. You probably got that info here but, there's been some controversy over the information. Okay for now I have to refresh my memory of the details, but recent memory is that some ArcSysWorks employees (who posted HERE of all places), deny his getting fired from SNK or even WORKING for them. Now, I don't know if that's a cover-up or not...but I do know many devs went by aliases back then. And it was "said" at one point that Daisuke worked on the stage design of Last Blade 2, I don't know how much of that can be confirmed. He worked with Hideyuki Abe, so I don't know the history of those two (cross-reference him?). If he did work for SNK, it would be OLD SNK, as in the original makers of KOF and Samsho...not SNK-Playmore as they exist today. Old SNK went out of business due to Capcom's essential domination of the arcade market back then, and SNK's business mistakes with the NeoGeo. And most likely if he DID work for SNK, he wasn't fired, more likely laid off as the company broke up. To understand this better you have to understand Daisuke's involvment with Sega. Keep in mind the original publisher stateside for Guilty Gear was Atlus, I've asked them about their relationship with NeoBlood back then, but they seem to keep quiet about it. On top of this, I've played the original Japanese version of Guilty Gear, and there is no mention of a publisher. It's something of a mystery. First you had Sega and its Naomi Board, then you had Sammy and Majesco working together for a while (XX era), then you get Sega-Sammy-Holdings, what it's currently called today. The U.S. Sammy corp became High Moon Studios responsible for Wild 9 and the like.
  4. I'm just saying he has more options now and his A.I. in particular is a lot smarter. Omni-guard is just a branch of this big tree.
  5. Stuff: http://community.livejournal.com/ffchaoticcosmos
  6. I can't believe I'm saying this but Exdeath has vastly improved. He has a short window where he can fire his Delta Shield HP attack shortly after a teleport, not only that but he can chain his teleports as a combo. This is the first time I've seen Exdeath actually give me trouble. On top of that it was NEO EXDEATH OUTFIT (you can see his face! ) With the changes made to most of the cast, Bartz(or Butz if you prefer) has a ton of new skills to play with, one of which being Cecil's Paladin projectile HP attack. Ultimecia has two kinds of Apocalypse, one that homes in on you (old one) and one that appears under you out of nowhere. Shockwave Pulsar has a vacuum pull to it now and won't detonate right away when it lands. She still has all her sword projectile shenanigans too, plus a spear move to give her space if she's being rushed down. Golbez has some freaky lazer HP mixup attack that's hard to dodge. There's more: certain assists cause launchers for chase (with X) and you can literally teleport in and contribute to the combo from anywhere, plus Assist works at nearly any range, no matter where the opponent is, useful for trap setters like Palamecia or Kefka or Zoners. Chase is a lot faster and harder to predict now, too, so if someone does fast brave attacks during chase, it's hard to pre-emptively dodge them, or you can fool people into getting hit with an HP attack (which are also surprisingly harder to react to). Here's something crazy: I was testing out EX Revenge, and if the opponent hasn't used up their Assist Bar, they can let the Assist take the hit even though EX Revenge is active, high level stuff. Assists can take the hit even if it's an HP attack, so long as you dodge the hitbox of the oncoming HP attack after it starts, so Assist Break is like a mini-burst of sorts, Assist Gauge will generate after a long period when broken but I don't know what the factors are for restoring it. That's it for now. More later.
  7. Some cool stuff I noticed: --Cloud's Slash prior to Finishing Touch has a vacuum to it, like a real tornado (from observing him). --WoL's got a shield bash combo HP attack --Sephiroth's got some kind of single multi-hit slash Brave Attack, it has zero range though, but it's fast. --WoL's got an Alternate outfit that makes him LOOK like Fighter, right down to short bright red hair. WoL's attacks kinda got nerfed, in that the ones that you'd normally link HP attacks in to no longer have Chase property, but some brave attacks now do. --I think you can use Assists to absorb an attack, not quite like a burst, but mashing out Assist in a jam made me discover this. --Kain's Jump can be dodged, but the way it works is in three stages, depending on how long you charge (my impressions of them anyway). Stage 1: Quick, fast homing, and probably most effective after a parry. Stage 2: Wait till his feet start to glow, then he pretty much has a bit more range (slightly more recovery when he lands) Stage 3: Widest Range and probably not the best for long range jumps as you can miss easily and get exposed to a hit once you land, but I guess it's the safest on startup and mid-air. Lightning's Paradigms are okay, Com is about close range melee, Rav is about zoning but has some nice vacuum traps, and you can still use HP attacks during Med, but you gotta run around alot. I'm not sure if her Paradigms improve the Assist Gauge or anything else yet. A.I. seems a bit more challenging now, they spam Brave projectiles to set you up for an HP attack if they have the means, Assists are done mid-combo by them, but don't always work, since I could tech after certain setups. Most annoying feature is the fact they notice the EX Cores faster than you do, usually, and end up getting full EX sooner. Side mention: It looks like (not confirmed or anything) Gabranth's EX Charge is faster now...so he can go into EX Mode a lot sooner than anyone else by far margin (at least compared to everyone else in the demo). A lot less EX Force particles to gather this time too.
  8. Okay, not saying much about the Demo's inner workings yet (just getting my bearings here) Tracklist is as Follows: Cosmos Dissidia Opening (seems slightly arranged from the original but I'm not sure) (No BGM) Battle 1 (FF1) (From Dissidia) Dungeon (FF1) (From Dissidia) Chaos Temple (FF1) (Thrash Metal Symphonic version) Battle 1 (FF2) (From Dissidia) Final Battle (FF2) (From Dissidia) Pandemonium (FF2) (Purely symphonic, has an MGS feel to it) Battle 1 (FF3) (Synth Metal Symphonic version, not bad, tempo is slower though) Boss Battle (FF3) (From Dissidia) Final Battle (FF3) (From Dissidia) Battle 1 (FF4) (Piano and Military Snares and Strings, pretty good) Boss Battle (FF4) (From Dissidia) Battle the Four Fiends (FF4) (From Dissidia) Battle 1 (FF5) (From Dissidia) Battle on the Big Bridge (FF5) (From Dissidia) Final Battle with NeoExdeath (FF5) (Wow, creepy drums and sound, I dig it!) Battle 1 (FF6) (House Synth Symphonic Beat version, emphasis on strings, kinda iffy but not bad) Boss Battle (FF6) (From Dissidia) Terrible Fight (FF6) (From Dissidia) Those Who Fight Further (FF7) (From Dissidia) J-E-N-O-V-A (FF7) (Very Trance, man. \m/ ) One Winged Angel (FF7) (From Dissidia) Don't Be Afraid (FF8) (From Dissidia) Force Your Way (FF8) (Just as good as you've heard so far, nice organ) The Extreme (FF8) (From Dissidia) Battle 1 (FF9) (From Dissidia) Battle 2 (FF9) (From Dissidia) Final Battle (Necron) (FF9) (No big changes, has a nice trance funk beat going on, drums are good too) Normal Battle (FF10) (From Dissidia) Otherworld (FF10) (From Dissidia) Duel of Aeons (FF10) (A tad different from the original but not by much). Battle in the Dungeon #2 (FF11) (From Dissidia) Boss Battle (FF12) (From Dissidia) Esper Battle (FF12) (This one's good, actually) Defiers of Fate (FF13) (This is kindof a remix of the original, has hints of Blinded by the Light in it) Boss Battle (Saber's Edge?) (FF13) (This is the original from the game) So far that's all we got from the Demo, so there may be more to unlock once the game is released.
  9. Okay so...Priche is in, and Aerith is gonna be a DLC "assist-only" character...? WAT?
  10. DEEEMOOOOO WHEREEEERRRRRRRR!?!? Also, where's this new Trailer with Gilgamesh AND Priche from FF11?
  11. As of now the voice actor listing is somewhat out-of-date, I need to update it with a full listing of the English cast of GG2 Overture, as well as the Korean voices credited for the dub of Korean #Reload (givin' credit where credit is due).
  12. Considering the Villains get a story mode, my Sephiroth's gonna pwn.
  13. Not sure if you saw this, but, show it to the guys in chat, lol: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/Mimeblade/Long_Piece.png GGs yesterday. :)

  14. Well, for what it's worth that's the best explanation for S-ko. *shrug* Movies are part of the references in this game. Edit: Which reminds me, I'm trying to find out what horror movie these Triplet guys are from... http://www.bakane.net/baka1.5/gallery/gif/guiltygear/zappa-ghostattack.gif
  15. Okay, here's the thing: Certain translations of Venom's bio (and what I've gathered thus far of Night of Knives) have hinted at the notion that there are various orphanages throughout Europe and Russia and Spain where orphans are gathered and trained against their will to be forcibly drafted into the Assassin's Guild Organization. I don't know if this is true, only that I'm aware Millia Rage herself expressed resistance to her training prior to the end of the Crusades as they were trying to make anti-gear weapons out of various subjects (this is mostly PWAB's doing). The truth is even if the assassins or orphans raised by the guild are given a nationality, that doesn't necessarily meant they are "of" that nationality. In other words, Millia might not necessarily be Russian, only that she was raised in an orphanage in Russia. Likewise Venom and Zato as well. What's more, eventually these three were brought together for various missions together, despite their 'declared' nationalities and regions, and in several instances Zato makes reference to the idea that Millia and Venom were practically raised together with him. So it's almost impossible to know exactly WHERE they are from. Only Zato knows his own birthday, and that's about all that's said. So far Slayer has said nothing about the Guild's methods for adoption or training, only that he put his utmost trust in Zato and later Venom for various reasons. As for Sharon, there is no public statement on her except that it is likely she is over 300 years old and has the ability to regenerate even if Slayer drains her of life. That being said, if you've ever seen the Underworld movies and knew about the concept of "True Immortals" the forebears of Vampires...it's likely she might be one of them but this is postulation. It is possible according to these movies for a vampire to evolve into a true immortal through varying circumstances and surpass the need for blood feeding. I don't know more details than that. Ky and That Man refer to Slayer as "Ishu/Kishu" which means "One of Noble Blood" or "One who walks at Night".
  16. Just try not to speculate and stick with the facts: http://gearproject.onehitcombo.net/Guilty_Gear/Story_Dialogue/ If you want more to read just go up one directory.

  17. Woah, dude, slow down. Venom's from England though he has dark skin (possibly part Egyptian/African?). He's an orphan so we don't know if he's truly from England. Your second question is mere speculation. Raven is currently playable as of GG2 Overture as DLC on XBox 360 he has a series of teleportation and shooting moves and he can affect people with slow fields or manipulate them with his Ravens...he's about the equivalent of Arakune mixed with Nu-13 in BlazBlue. That Man was more or less a danmaku boss of sorts, but he may or may not be playable, we'll see. Sharon is Slayer's wife, so I doubt it. She's never spoken before, so I don't know what kind of role she has aside from Slayer sucking out her blood to gain power to fight, or her regenerative powers. Testament didn't change himself into a Gear. It was announced that the Postwar Administrative Bureau did it to him as of GGXX Story Dialogue (click my links above to read up on him). Baiken is a girl, her sword isn't an OutRage, and she isn't evil, she's just angry at That Man. Anji Mito's fate is unknown. He's seesawing between That Man and supporting his own people of Japan right now, and also trying to help May find her parents. S-ko is short for Sadako Yamamura from "The Ring" horror movies, Axl's girlfriend was named Megumi, so unlikely. Zappa's outfit looks to be a mix between a body cast or some kind of safety suit, but NOTHING IS CONFIRMED. Please don't speculate if you don't know, this is not the thread for it! Thanks.
  18. I noticed something weird the other day VS Tsubaki (the matchup)...it seemed like j2C>tsubaki sucked her up in like some kind of vacuum hit...what's that about? I know j.2C can pick up downed characters, but why would Tsubaki draw them in further to knock them down?
  19. Guilty Gear Judgment Dialogue FAQ (Work-in-Progress): http://www.gearproject.onehitcombo.net/Guilty_Gear/Story_Dialogue/Guilty_Gear_Judgment.txt It's tedious because it's a lot of repetition, but I'll get it finished eventually.
  20. Hey man, some people really DO look for spare parts for customs and crap...don't kid around like dat.

  21. Someone said you were asking about buying my PS2 pad (up button doesn't work)...everything else works (I'm guessing wiring is faulty).

  22. Order-Sol and Tsubaki WISH they could charge like Thor!
  23. If they can deal with lag quitters, lobby spies, hit-n-runners, and level fakers while they're at it, I'm cool with it.
  24. In case anyone wondered "Ikai Okuri" means "Final Sending", to I'm guessing the Farplane.
  25. Circ...that link....wow. Shaq and a Bear in Mugen and....just wow.
