  1. You know Lumin, I first read that as: Also, Star- Who's Mill?
  2. If Astaroth plays Platinum, and Naimat plays Noel, and I play Bang, and Midnight plays Ragna/Carl/Hakumen, and Star plays all of the above and more/Tager, Milln has to play Blazblue.
  3. If Astaroth plays Platinum and Naimat plays Noel, I'll play Bang. (:3's a little)
  4. Damn it, it's always the days I don't check the thread that it explodes with new content. Billy- Nice, I hope moments like that happen more often for ya. I lol'd at "Felt so Chandler man." And your recent images in general. @KoF- I could go in-depth with this, but I'd rather keep it brief. KoF definitely isn't a bad game, and I don't think Star's trying to argue that it is- it's just a very different game with pretty different *raises flame shield* fundamentals. Especially compared to Blazblue. Just hear me out. Blazblue puts a huge emphasis on combo memorization and capitalizing off random hits. KoF puts more focus on reacting to situations knowledgeably and earning more random hits that normally don't amount to much. In Blazblue, you're rewarded for knowing your character's utility and move properties, which let you analyze situations and react appropriately. In KoF, you're rewarded for knowing your opponent's utilities and how to set up/escape things like frame traps, which require you to understand the situation before it happens and react appropriately. Meter in Blazblue can be used for pretty much anything, like making a DP safe, and isn't used very liberally. Meter in KoF is mostly used for priority and doing more damage, and it's used very often. So what does all this have to do with fundamentals? To abbreviate things, the point I'm trying to make is that fundamentals aren't as universal as people like to make them. To me, good fundamentals in Blazblue mean knowing your character, earning the most damage in their combos, and reacting to situations as they happen. In KoF, however, I feel like good fundamentals mean knowing your matchups, dealing more hits than your opponent, and planning to react to things before they happen based on prior knowledge. Depending on the game, the risk/reward of utilizing your "fundamentals" are always going to be different. It's just something you'll need to accept if you want to improve after moving from one game to a different one. That said, I think Star's problem with KoF may be that he's playing it like he would BB. If you step into KoF more open-minded and accept that you're going to have to put time and dedication into relearning those kinds of fundamentals specifically for KoF, I think you'd enjoy it a lot more Star. The same goes for Soul Calibur and you, Naimat. Milln- I still play KoF. Just not as much as I'd like to. :[
  5. Thanks for the compliments guys. The "problem" with the C button is that I didn't tape/glue the paper inside the buttons down, so they shift around a bit as I play. I actually took extra care to position them before I used the stick for the first time, but I didn't take the picture until after my test run, haha. The only thing I want to change about the stick that I haven't yet is the actual stick (I didn't have the money at the time of ordering the buttons to replace it), so I'll fix the buttons when I do that.
  6. Sorry for the late shout-outs. I slept for a REALLY long time this morning (well into the afternoon) and after that I was finishing this up: Before anyone asks, no, I'm not "switching to stick." I'll have it on the side, and I may try to learn it, but it's very likely that I'll continue to "main" pad. But anyway, enough of that. Shoutouts! Milln- Thanks for hosting us, and sorry you ended up having to work. We all had a ton of fun. I was a little disappointed we didn't get to play each other in anything, but I was pretty busy hyping over playing people in Extend. Next time I'll be sure to play you in KoF, or BB if you change your mind about playing it (which I hope you do). :3 Also, the Cookeville group isn't as shy as you probably think. Tret can be a little quiet, but before you showed up he was talking with other players about Lambda 'n stuff. And Eireprince isn't shy in the least, but he wasn't feeling well before we even left- thankfully, he managed to keep everything stomached until I got him back home. Next time, expect us Cookevillains to bring the mingle. :] K.O.- Don't die doing that Insanity thing. And remind me to buy you stilts for your birthday. Justin- No Melty Blood = :[ Boomcube- I'm not sure I said anything to you while you were there, but I definitely noticed your presence. Glad to see you making it to these kinds of things. Keep on being cool... And consider picking BB back up. :3 Eireprince- Hope you get to feeling better soon, bud. I'm glad you decided to come even though you weren't feeling up to it, and I hope you still had a good time. Be sure to play some of that Burei Buru next time. :] Grimstar- GG's in BB and SCV. I'm really happy you showed up- it's been way too long since MTN's seen you, man. Hope to see you around more often. :D LastStar- Gawd, nerfed or not, your Noel is as scary as ever. I have GOT to work on that match-up- Ragna doesn't have enough retarded bullshit to compensate. :P Keep up the good work, and I'll be sure to give you more of a run for your money next time! Naimat- Truly awesome games, I'm happy I wrapped up the night with them. I always love fighting your Bang, but seriously, the B.S. in Ragna really comes out in our games for some reason. That first round of the last game left ME salty. XD P.S. I have permanent dibs on a seat in your car whenever you go to get food at Milln's again. That was the best fucking adventure ever. Papstr- Thanks for giving me shit and keeping me in line all the time, lololololol. Seriously though, we never got those KoF games in to see who was right about... Whatever it was we were disagreeing about in BK. This needs settling. Soon. I'll even give you a handicap by using my fight stick! :3 (Except not really) Pickle- Good to see ya after so long, you've been pulling a Billy recently and that sucks. D: You're just a really fun guy to talk to and stuff, and even though we didn't really hang a lot while you were there, I enjoyed whatever conversation we had. I don't remember what it was, but I remember it was really funny. XD Tad- Sad face. I never got to face that wolf of yours. :[ We need to play some games some time soon. I'm really interested in seeing how you've been improving. Also, I was serious about getting into Guilty Gear when it hits XBLA. I wanna face you on that whenever it comes out for sure. :D Tret- I'm really happy you had a good time. It's easy to see you've been working hard to improve. :] Like I said, the best thing you can do from here is just play more actual people. Once you learn how to handle the pressure and catch those hit/combo opportunities, I guarantee it'll make a world of difference. :D VocalSabre- GG's, keep on keeping on. And thanks for sharing those stories- I got a real kick out of them. No offense. :P Volpe- Great games, I was really happy to play a legit Extend Hakumen. You're seriously the first one I've played. :O Naimat was right- he's like a hard counter to Ragna, and I have/had to be really careful about the things I do when playing you. I fear for when you learn exactly what to do against Ragna. D: Anyone I forgot- Lemme know I forgot ya and I'll shoot you a shoutout on your own message. :3
  7. Cookeville group will be arriving at around 6, and leaving around 2-3 in the morning. Looking forward to seeing you guys there. :D
  8. Oh, 6 in the evening? Looks like our group will be leaving much later. >_>
  9. I'm now imagining you standing on stage at Final Round, holding the First Place trophy with a bunch of broken glass in your feet. EDIT: Never mind. Naimat wins.
  10. Why would there be a button you can hold down to change characters at the Rematch screen? That seems a little counter-productive if it's true. But no, they didn't go to the character select screen either. Milln and Papstr were on commentary when it happened, and they both commented on the oddity of the situation.
  11. Lol, wow. There's a funny glitch in Negro Justice and Arson's set. Arson picked EX Iori as his lead for their first match, but after they picked Rematch, he had EX Kyo as his lead. WTF.
  12. Finally getting around to uploading more KoF. The rest of the tournament should be up by Friday. Sorry for the delay guys. School's been killer recently. Now, I'm getting to sleep.
  13. Also, Lambda's 6A is an awesome anti-air. It's head invulnerable from the 5th to 13th frame, which means that even if an opponent's air move should have hit you then, it'll pass right through you instead. If it's a Counter Hit and you're close to the corner, I'm pretty sure you can 5C -> 6C -> 236C -> stuff. If not, you can very easily jump cancel into her standard jC -> j2C -> J.C. -> jC -> j2C -> j214D.
  14. NO U SKURRED Really though, I haven't had much of a chance to play Extend online much (even on the PS3 version). I'll be looking forward to later this week when I'm less busy, and Saturday especially to play some of you guys. I'll be bringing up 4-5 people (!) to Milln's Open House, so expect to see some new faces. Hope to see you all there. :]
  15. I concur. ASTRAL CONTEST IS A GO.
  16. Hey Astaroth, what are your feelings on Natsu? You haven't talked about her yet, so I'm just curious.
  17. I hope to see him utilizing it then. It'd be super cool to see stuff like that in a tournament.
  18. You dawg, I heard you like Melee. So we put Wavedashing in your Blazblue so you can pretend to play Smash Bros while you pretend to play Carl. (Skip to like 1:07)
  19. In fairness, they don't taste like actual cookies. But I still like them. :<
  20. I see Billy's enjoying Extend Ragna. Really though, what bothers me more is games that have little to no emphasis on overheads (or mix-ups, for that matter) whatsoever. There's rarely anything about an overhead that's ambiguous in Blazblue. You get hit by that oh-so-blatant move, and realize "oh, I should have reacted to that high." So for next time, you work on doing just that. If you succeed the next time, you know you're improving your defensive game, and as such, as a player. Now, Street Fighter/Marvel, on the other hand, have SUCH an emphasis on cross-ups, and various situations that involve them. Even skilled players have difficulty reacting to cross-ups (especially in the latter) because they're SO FUCKING AMBIGUOUS. When you block a cross-up in one of those games, you hardly ever think "oh, so that's when I need to react to that." No, you normally think "oh wow, I'm sure lucky I blocked that." Anyway, in Blazblue, overheads are rewarded so much because they're worse than lows in every possible way, except for their ability to capitalize on damage. It's higher risk - higher reward, so it makes sense. Just get out of the habit of auto-blocking low like other fighters tend to encourage and you'll be fine.
  21. These backstories are great. I always find these things really interesting. It's kind of funny thinking I probably ran into at least Papstr/Midnight before MTN, and- OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD WHY WON'T MY COMPUTER SCREEN ACCEPT CURRENCY THE ANSWER IS YES
  22. inb4nobodycares. It's not really that much of a backstory. But... I can't remember if I told you guys this before, but coincidentally, I found out about Blazblue thanks to a Super Smash Brothers Brawl tournament K.O. was hosting. It was a 2v2 tournament I came up to with a friend, and at the time, I was very out of touch with gaming news. I'd gathered that they'd stopped making Guilty Gear games at that point (which I enjoyed thoroughly, but never made it to the point of learning decent combos), but I was content with it... That is, until I saw the Blazblue machine. Brawl was practically dead on sight. XD But yeah, everything just fell into place after that. Blazblue sparked my interest in other fighters, and I made a trip up to the arcade at least once a month after that JUST to play it, until it came out on consoles. If it weren't for that tourney K.O. hosted, though, I might not have known about Blazblue today, and I might not have even gotten into fighting games in general. So yeah, thanks K.O. I definitely owe you (and the arcade for having the BB machine, of course). :3 EDIT: Quick, Star! Save Volpe's logic with your editing powers!
  23. Tad, you're a boss. Straight up. I'm not sure I'll have the money to completely cover my side for the hotel room, but I'll be sure to pay you what I can. As for transportation, the Megabus website is finally letting me look at travel costs/times, but I'm not sure it'd be a viable choice. For some reason, it would cost $1 to go from Nashville to Indianapolis (which basically passes right by Cincinnati), but going from Indianapolis to Cincinnati after that would cost $14. WTF? If we're going for cost effectiveness, a dollar per person to Indianapolis is awesome if we can find a cheap way to go from there to Cincinnati, too. Perhaps the Ohio gang could shed some light on that kind of transportation.
  24. What, did you not hear Bang's? Muhahahaha.
