  1. It can be avoided by not air teching, and teching the ensuing purple throw. You could get a blue beat combo, but it'll scale like crazy.
  2. I don't think it's worth practicing the harder version for only 100 extra damage, the easier version is much better, nice find! I find the combo to be much easier using regular horizontal Spark Bolt. Here's a 5581 damage j.2C Fatal Counter combo I've been playing around with, I think this is max damage. Builds 40 heat, requires magnetism: FC j.2C > 5C > 6C xx B-Sledge > 5C > 6A > 6B > jc > j.2C > 5B > j. A > j.B > delay j.C > land > sj. A > j.C > j.D xx Grand Punish
  3. Hmm, good to know, who knows which other characters I may have missed.
  4. Don't get me wrong, his abare is much better. It's just really easy to drop a combo if you misjudge your spacing by a little bit, or if you didn't delay your 6A long enough, or if your opponent was too high, etc. For example, 5B > 5C > 6A > 3C xx whiff Collider at point blank range sends your opponent flying away from you. Only 5C > 6A xx Collider works in this situation. Take a step back, they float straight up in front of you. 6B > 6C > air combo works in this situation. Take another step back, and they float towards you. 5C > 6B works, but 6B > 6C does not. In a match situation, you'll have to react to your opponent's trajectory and respond accordingly.
  5. Awesome, I'll definitely be there.
  6. Not sure I understand, delay which move after Collider? Converting random hits into combos is going to be a challenge in CP. You have to be keenly aware of spacing, hit-stun scaling limitations and character specific adjustments. I guess they made Tager more thematic; you have to approach him with scientific precision now lol.
  7. Unfortunately, 5D xx Spark Bolt is character-specific It doesn't work on Jin, not sure who else it doesn't work on. Atomic Collider, walk forward a pixel, 6C xx Gadget Finger is also character specific. Edit: You can use the same timing for Jin, Hakumen, Ragna, Litchi, Tager, Noel and Tsubaki, though it appears that there are other characters with specific timings. Keep in mind that I recorded the combo on Jin, and then cycled through the cast, replaying the combo on each character. A raw Collider leads to no damage without meter or Spark Bolt on the majority of the cast it seems. Overall, Tager's combos are MUCH harder. We're going to need a lot of character specific knowledge, and many whiff Collider combos are spacing specific too.
  8. I remember a while ago, someone hypothesized that you would be able to do j.B xx Grand Punish, and that you could make the GP cross up. It turns out they were right. If you hit j.B on top of your opponent's head, the Grand Punish will hit cross up. If they block the Grand Punish, the momentum carries you pretty far away, but you'll probably still be punished for it. If they block the Grand Punish and you RC to make it safe, you can't follow up with any air normals because you're facing away from your opponent. If it hits, you can then RC it into good damage, I have a 3.9K BNB, don't know if that's optimal though. This gives Tager a fast, left-right mix up that's pretty hard to see. Of course, you can also vary the timing so that Grand Punish hits in front as well.
  9. You have to RC when your opponent's head is at the same level as Tager's head, then do Atomic Collider IMMEDIATELY. You also have to hold the Collider for a split second. If you hold it too long, the Collider will grab them, so be careful. The best way to input this would be: + + Some characters are taller than others, so the timing will be slightly different. Just have to practice. Good luck! Edit: Yumura does it differently. He RCs the Gadget Finger as soon as it's possible to, then waits for the opponent to drop to head level before doing the Atomic Collider. His way seems like it would be easier, I may have to try it and see what works for me.
  10. I was worried about not being able to navigate the menus properly, thank you for the link. My copy comes tomorrow, can't wait!
  11. I'm importing, don't have a PSN account yet, just bought a PS3. I really hope it gets here this weekend.
  12. Five Tagers qualified for the Arc Revolution Cup, tied with Taokaka and Litchi as the characters with the second highest representation. Gone are the days where a lone Tager would qualify for SBO only to get eliminated in the first round.
  13. BBCP 4/28/2013 Playspot Big One 3on3 Part 2/3 SO FUCKING HYPE!!! ESPECIALLY the last set vs. Hakumen, so much fun to watch.
  14. BBCP 4/6/2013 Game Chariot - Yumura (Tager) VS MC (Bullet) An incredible set. Yumura really showcases all of Tager's strengths here, on top of being an incredibly smart player. At 11:35, he makes a beautiful read on MC's delayed airdash and anti-airs with A-Buster. Edit: Note when I say set, this is a probably a compilation of all the games they played over the course of an evening at the arcade. That's just my guess though. BBCP 4/6/2013 Game Chariot - Weekend Tournament BBCP 4/6/2013 Game Chariot - MC (Bullet) VS Osuban (Tager)
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd4gf1Ln1v0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wiFTL-IYTk&feature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVD2K5A_0BI&feature=youtu.be - This one features hilarious Japanese commentary including hype reactions to a GETB, I know how much you guys love those So Tager wins another tournament. There were four Tagers in this tournament alone. It's funny how the previous post in this thread was about Tager winning a tournament. I don't think Tager is top tier, I would hesitantly give him a top 5 spot though, lower end of top 5.
  16. The Tager in that a-cho video is incredible.
  17. It wouldn't be Dustloop if people didn't overreact to character changes, only to end up being proven wrong.
  18. Congratulations to Axis for placing top 8 at Final Round 16! Here's hoping that come CP, we'll be able to win tournaments on North American soil.
  19. This combo brought a tear to my eye.
  20. New Fatal counter j.2C combo, 4.8K no meter. Adding 5C > 4D/5D at the end would definitely break 5K. And you have to be relatively close to the corner, of course.
  21. Thank you so much for posting these videos! :D FINALLY we see a Tager that really abuses Gadget Flinger, his success rate with it is very high and he performs like 10 of them in a single game. The buffed heat gain on GF is awesome, and it's sooo sick when he holds the Buster all the way and gets a purple grab. It's kind of gimmicky, but at the same time, your opponent isn't thinking about teching grabs at all, they're trying to guess what kind of mix up you'll go for.
  22. It used to work, channels like jourdal or pktazn would upload tournaments in parts and label each video with the characters featured within. The videos seem to have dried up.
  23. Thanks for posting this, I've been jonesing for some CP Tager footage recently. My practice of typing "Chrono Phantasma Tager" into Youtube and sorting by "today" or "this week" hasn't been providing any results.
  24. I'll definitely check out top 8 in that case, best of luck!
  25. I'll never stop loving the character though. Maybe I'm a masochist.
