That's an excellent observation, it seems obvious but I hadn't thought of driver flinger in that way. Also keep in mind that Gadget Finger had its heat gain buffed to 10 (from 5 IIRC), and Tager's heat gain in general is very high. He'll be able to driver fling quite often.
-
This is completely wrong. Don't be so quick to write off tech you haven't personally tried, it sounds like you didn't even watch the whole video Driver flinger gives Tager a five-way mix up that puts you firmly in control. Since every fling is uniform in length, you can devise frame perfect set-ups for cross-ups, empty jump lows, etc. If you've played SF4 Zangief, you know how strong his options are off 360+K. Look at the B-Buster at 6:10. Who's going to avoid that if you train your opponent to expect safe jump cross-ups? This is classic grappler oki. Classic grappler oki will never be bad, in the same way Ryu fireball traps from 1991 are still winning tournaments today.

Well BB doesn't have a chance in hell of winning, it's clearly going to be MLP. At the same time, it's not like we'd be throwing away our money because all proceeds go to breast cancer research. Even though I'm not a Smash player I donated for Melee because what I saw on the Apex stream impressed me and I think it'd be a good addition to the Evo roster.

Link to this video? And as for ant-airs, air-to-air j.A is our strongest option, which isn't terrible considering you can go into GP or those cool air to ground combos that were discovered. Every time you jump forward, you can just do a while rising j.A to cover any attempts to jump at you while moving forward toward your opponent. Also we'll have to go back to our CT roots and use backdash as an anti-air now as well . Which is actually pretty good in CP considering Tager gets a lot of damage off jabs.
-
If it works on Ragna and Jin, then it more or less has to work on everybody. This is happy news :D
-
I think angled Spark Bolt and Air Buster will help with Taokaka and Hazama. I also feel like we're just beginning to see the potential of Grand Punish. With 50 heat, you can mix up your aerial approach and make it completely safe. Edit: Maybe I overestimated the chances of Tager's guard getting broken lol. But the new changes do mean less barrier guarding.
-
Tager is clearly better, I don't see how anyone could argue that he's worse. Keep in mind that he's undergone drastic changes in CP, where up until now, he's remained largely the same. It's going to take some time to maximize his potential. No one is talking about how universal changes to the guard break system help Tager in his worst match ups. We don't have to worry about getting guard broken fullscreen by Nu and Mu anymore; we can block a lot more without depleting our barrier gauge as we slowly push them to the corner. We're going to take a lot more chip damage in the process, but that's how it should be in the archetypal grappler vs. zoner match up.

I would fucking love to hear Mike Z talk about designing grapplers. Also I decided I love Atomic Collider > 2D >whiff GF. I realized that no matter which wake up option you choose, you'll get pulled toward Tager. If you neutral tech, you'll pop up right beside him. If you do nothing, try to quick rise or roll, you'll get pulled close enough where you're freshly magnetized and he can still make you guess. Tager can put you in a variety of different scary situations now, the scariest being the magnetized Atomic Collider > whiff GF > cross-up. It isn't just Gadget Finger over and over again. It will be worth knowing frame perfect safe jump set ups/option selects in order to maximize our effectiveness.

I miss jump cancel 6A a lot, but I just jump cancel 5B now to continue pressure, although the gap is bigger now obviously.
-
You can't jump cancel 6A as far as I know. Tager's only jump cancelable moves are 5A, 2A, 5B and now 6B, but only on hit.
-
That RC Collider combo was beautiful, 3.8K + lots of magnetism for 50 heat, I think that's great. The buffed 6A is a godsend, imo. Faster start-up, SA frames activate earlier *and* its attack level has been increased? This move does everything now. The mix up after it is incredibly strong now as well, between cancelling it into 360+A or going for a high low mix up with 6B/3C. Or you can just make it safe with 4D, which is probably a true string now with the increased attack level on 6A. Yumura even showed how if you space it properly, you can use to make your opponent's Counter Assault whiff. CP Tager is the best interation of the character.
-
I know it's possible to do Atomic Collider > Diagonal Spark Bolt > A-Sledge, 3C xx Collider Whiff and then I don't remember what he ended it with. Either j.2C < GF or the air combo ender. I wish I could find the video, but I've seen so many CP Tager videos that I lose track.
-
Yes, you're right, you can't make it a safe jump and ambiguous at the same time. Making it ambiguous might mess up their DP input though, which is still nice. I'll miss CH j.D combos too, I've seen some players follow up with 6A in some situations though. I'm sorry to hear that you're not as excited as me, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I would make the argument that Tager's the best he's ever been. I think his Abare is better now that he can convert a random j. A into Grand Punish. He can also go into his air combo from 3C xx A-Sledge, which makes his unmagnetized combo potential off 5A that much better. With a higher combo rate than in Extend, we still haven't seen the limits of what he can do. For one, I haven't seen a single Tager incorporate Crush Trigger into combos, or use his Crush Trigger much in general. I also love his new corner combos, which maximize his damage and keep the opponent cornered. You mentioned the exact reason why I'm so hype for CP Tager; he has real grappler oki now with his ambiguous cross-up safe jumps. No more gimmicks, just pure terrifying mix-ups; this means we'll be landing a lot of empty jump command grabs if we condition our opponents correctly. To me it seems like Aksys want people to only neutral tech against Tager, as doing anything else will get you punished easily. I can't wait to jump into the lab with him on day 1.
-
Hype is relative then, that match got me mad excited.
-
Is that more or less than in Extend?
-
Awesome! I just saw it as well, in the Fio vs. the World video. Can you still do Gadget Fling in CSEX?
-
If this doesn't get you hype for CP Tager, I don't know what will. Just watching this guy (I think it's Yumura) play gives me so many ideas. Edit: Just the first match anyway lol.
-
Since we still have to play Extend for a little while, I was wondering if "Gadget Fling" is still in the game. I haven't been able to do it all, has it been removed?
-
Tager should start the round with a Spark Bolt. That would be a huge buff in and of itself.
-
I don't have my passport unfortunately It's literally the only thing stopping me at this point
-
I read that 6C > 2D works, but it's better to do 6C xx A-Sledge because 6C forces crouch state so you can continue the combo further. Also I'm glad to hear that you disapprove of the sound effects as much as I do
-
Tager received an enormous buff to his counter assault! It doesn't put your opponent in a techable knockdown state anymore, instead they're forced to pop up right beside you. It looks like it leaves you at a slight frame advantage, probably comparable to Gadget Finger. I think this is huge. For 50 heat, you can completely negate your opponent's pressure, shift the momentum in your favour and then make them guess. I can see this being enormously helpful in match ups where Tager gets rushed down. Thoughts? Edit: I'm 99% sure that this post is 100% wrong. Sorry guys.

Oh, I didn't know that, I would be very grateful if you could squeeze me in Edit: I would be ok with either vehicle, whichever one is more convenient for you guys. Since I imagine the tournament will be played on PS3, I won't bring my stick, just a backpack with clothes and stuff. -

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there was any room in any of the cars going to NEC next weekend? I will chip for gas of course, and I will buy you a beer when we get there. Thanks!
