  1. I would test 2C against a variety of jump-in's in training mode to get a feel of how to use it. have the opponent do regular and instant air dash-ins to see what's what. It's all about experimenting like a scientist. I tried Susan out first on my quest for a main. I came the conclusion that he shouldn't be jumping at the opponent until he unlocks Hunter's fang. His air normals seem only good when jumping straight up or retreating. They're not fast enough for aggressive approaches. Treat him like a more patient Hakumen. Unlocking moves using 2-4 hit combos at first. Learn to do normal/air grab combos immediately to deal with early rushdown. I call his early game-plan: The Pigeon Peck. Remember, 2-4 hit combos (clean or blocked) to unlock (5D) moves. Another thing is not every one will go for the same moves, figure out what 2-3 moves you need immediately and start practicing doing those unlock-combos from an unselected drive meter (nothing highlighted). Go into training and see what moves you have that stop the shield. That's the best way to find out. Be a scientist.
  2. Record your matches. Look at the setups he does. Record those setups in the training mode. practice blocking them and test EVERY option you normally have available. To be honest, it just sounds like you need to get better at blocking.
  3. Anyone know what Japan thinks of Jack-o?
  4. I'm really confused on this. Out of all the characters, she was nerfed. The bad matches are just going to be worse now. They gave her nothing to compensate for the downgrade. I think Aegis Shield was sped up on cooldown though (still not enough to matter).
  5. Please post the links my good sir...
  6. I'm in Boston (Dorchester). I'm up for some Revelator on any Friday or Saturday. If you guys are serious about growing the community here in Boston, I can help spread the word around the state. Is it possible to have weekly or bi-weekly meet-ups?
  7. Has anyone seen the finals of CEO? What does Jack-O have that facilitates her gameplan consistently? Like there's no real inevitability with her and her minions. They disappear after awhile even if they're not killed. Her countdown timer for houses on the organ is useless. Aegis Shield only last six seconds and takes 30 seconds to refresh. When she does get a level 3 house, it means nothing if they destroy it because you start back at level 1. She's fighting for her life for 20+ seconds to do what many characters do at the start of the round.
  8. Kazunoko putting in work with his Raven:
  9. I've found this video here below to be very informative on what fighting game developers and promoters should be thinking about when it comes to mass appeal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8cOJjLLkEc Like I've already said before, Arc needs to make their characters more recognizable. Once again, show WHO the character is and WHAT is special about them. These previous trailers are really only going to catch people who already know what Guilty Gear is. The mainstream market see these lightning-quick glimpses of action and have no idea/direction of what they're supposed to be excited about. To some, it may even look like a side-scrolling brawler. Characters like Ryu and Sub-Zero can get a player's attention because they know what to expect from them. Currently, Guilty Gear characters aren't really known outside of the Guilty Gear circle. That has to change if this game is to grow it's community. Another thing to look at is the value aspect of the product. Right now, SFV is being stomped on for it's lack of mainstream content (and how it's implemented into their system). This is the perfect time to show the fighting game community that Guilty Gear has content for online players and players who will never go online. Getting greedy at this time where everyone is on edge from many games this generation being cash-grabs is dangerous territory to be jumping into. No one wants to be nickeled and dimed.
  10. It would be hype. I'm really surprised it wasn't originally a giant great white shark and some regular size ones. I'd be even more hyped up to get my A.B.A. back in the lineup. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/images/3/3c/GGAC_ABA_bunri.png There's a bunch of things Arc can do to make the game more, what's the word I'm looking for....known? I'm pretty sure there are players who haven't touched the game because their old favorite isn't available to be played with yet. I really don't understand how some visuals put a person into masculinity anxiety. My friend called me up like two hours ago to set up some MTG modern tomorrow and in background it sounded like a child was crying. I asked him (for fun) "did you have a kid without telling me? You and that chick's moving mad fast." He was like "naw! Why?" I was like "what's that crying in the background?" He said "oh I'm practicing with R. Mika and getting my behind kicked."
  11. That's not why I said that. I'm saying what do you expect from an anime game about a pirate and a robot?
  12. Should Elphelt put on a fatigue suit? Maybe May should exchange her Dolphins and Beach Balls for some Sharks and Medicine Balls (with better priority)...
  13. I've been playing Street Fighter since early 1992. That has no affect on which game I prefer. That defeatist attitude keeps showing up.
  14. Yes, that behavior is extremely toxic and it's insulting to those "casuals" who WANT to be better players. WE weren't always so knowledgeable about fighting games. Already putting the situation in defeat-mode for new players is not healthy. Ok with that out the way, I have something a little different here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3GRzhJRavE See this trailer? What Arc needs to do is make it (a new trailer) so new players understand what is going on with the game. The fighting/gameplay in this trailer is extremely brief and most of it is blocked off by the giant portrait of the characters. If I was a new player and was curious of what Guilty Gear has to offer, I would want to see what makes every character in the game special. Give the viewer a clear understanding that Venom uses a pool-stick and pool-balls for offense and defense, Jack-O is a lockdown character that uses a Patapon-like technique to succeed, Bedman can created "echoes" of his previous attacks for confusion, Chip is a stick-and-move ninja, Etc. Show the back-and-forth strategy with the Blitz Shield mechanic. Show how specials can be roman canceled. Announce each character's name. Let the player get a full grasp of the coolness and flash (like the overdrives). The main thing is to build a relationship up between a player and any specific character/s (and game modes) they might be interested in.
  15. Have you seen what R. Mika and Laura look like in Street Fighter 5? I will admit though that they went waaay overboard with Blazblue's Makoto. Like seriously, how do you expect to gain a bigger audience when children see a squirrel dressed like a prostitute? That's not cool. Yeah, if they're going to charge 59.99 USD; then they really REALLY need to make sure it's worth it. I couldn't touch Chrono Phantasm Extend because there was only one new character and a balance patch worth talking about (even with a discount). It was even worse that they announced Central Fiction months later. The over-saturation of titles and the region division they're causing in the community is very toxic.
  16. Bro, I fully understand what you mean with Arc looking at only the Japanese market as reference. Like the console character poll they had last Fall. Only Japan had any say on who should be added. Japan is smaller than California, but they were used exclusively to dictate what the rest of the world will receive. The same with the loooong wait for the updates of games that are being played now (since last year) in Japanese arcades. Yes, they will stay niche if this continues and will only have themselves to blame for not taking what can be theirs easily. How many Americans/Europeans like Rock music? How many competitive gamers like depth? Guilty Gear has everything needed to be the premier fighting game. I really think it's a pride thing to be honest. I Remember Nintendo's former President saying this about the global gaming market: "In Japan, I can be my own antennae, but abroad that doesn't work." http://www.gamesradar.com/nintendo-looks-outside-japan-next-systems-leadership/
  17. Capcom has been making terrible decisions for a few years now (Street Fighter X Tekken, Capcom Fighting Jam, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, etc.). It's just no one has capitalized on it. Sony brought in content with their software/hardware that you were hard-pressed to get with anything Nintendo was doing. Sony made video-gaming more acceptable and they were once considered something only children should do. It used to be that women would laugh at a guy playing games, now they're in the stores buying their boyfriends/husbands, or themselves games/consoles. Nintendo tried to keep the industry revolving around their ideas of kid-friendly fun, but Sony brought with them the edginess that created what we have today. Street Fighter being a game I've been playing since Spring 92' has a tremendous reputation. Nintendo, with it's iconic characters like Mario, Donkey Kong and Link are even more known. That didn't stop Sony from running over them for three generations out of four (Nintendo ran to the casual market for breathing room with the Wii). Sony took advantage of the situation just as Arc can do now. Nintendo used to be synonymous with the term videogames and they're sitting on billions of dollars. Capcom couldn't even get Street Fighter 5 in development without the aid of Sony. The only thing holding Guilty Gear back from taking the world-wide spotlight is it's developers and promoters. Street Fighter has stopped evolving and the time to take the throne is now. Enough of this "will Guilty Gear be allowed at EVO this year?" By the way, PS4 is steam-rolling over X1. Microsoft doesn't even show it's monthly sales numbers anymore.
  18. That's a defeatist attitude brother. When Nintendo was king of the hill and looking untouchable, did that stop Sony from doing their thing. Look at the situation now. Nintendo is the after-thought and Sony is the front-runner.
  19. With Revelator being on PS3, PS4 and PC, it'll have the biggest potential audience.
  20. Capcom has done the unthinkable with Street Fighter 5 and Arc needs to take advantage of the situation immediately. They need to show gamers of all skill levels that their game has everything they could ask for. How often does a fighting game company get to move into a bigger piece of this market? The beast is wounded. They need to strike now before it recovers. Guilty Gear has all of the parts needed for a complete package. Characters , balance, modes, lore and most importantly, depth. Arc, your time on the throne has come....if you would only act on it. Promote the upcoming game like you've never done before. Don't waste this opportunity. With Guilty Gear as the premier game, this site becomes the stage of super high traffic. Right here on home turf. Dustloop has a better developed character section than these other sites and that's already a plus for the game. Bring in more Guilty Bits-like videos and things will just keep growing.
  21. The thing is that most people aren't going to buy more colors/tracks than the ones they want. They may spend $2.00 on colors and that's the end of that. Then you'll have others who'll just turn down the game's music volume and play music in the background from their phone/stereo (like me) and the company won't get a red cent when it comes to music. That's because if a person wants something different, they're not going to purchase what they're trying get away from. With the customizing option, we can have exactly what we want. That doesn't stop the company from releasing their own music for purchase either. Everyone can't make music or just really like what Arc creates. Options are good because they can sell both.
  22. Would it really take that much effort to add a color-edit mode and custom soundtrack option?
  23. In this time where the community is getting bigger and more fighting games are hitting the scene, players should be able to customize features in their game/s to get the most personalized experience from them. We've been doing this with our arcade sticks and pads for quite a while now. I wonder why videogames based on Wrestling, Basketball, Football, Racing, etc. have so many things you can manipulate, but fighting games are stuck with just single play, head 2 head local or online or Story-mode. These games hav some nice soundtracks, but sometimes a person just wants to hear something else besides what is forced on you. It would be nice to have a feature where you can save your own favorite tracks to specific stages/rounds that you know will motivate you to play to your potential. I'm pretty sure some people won't even touch a game if they don't like certain features like once again the soundtrack or even the color/design of the outfits of characters. With customizing options, you can get exactly what you want out of the game and developers aren't tied to making those things anymore. If they still want to make a profit, they can by selling them as options to those gamers who want them. Even if we would have to register color designs to make sure they're legit (maybe even share them with the community), it would still be an option for anyone to take or leave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVK0Tx1j88A
  24. I say this because you have characters that are supposed to zone, but lacking effective defensive tools(Elizabeth & Naoto), characters that are for up-close and personal fight, but lack mix-ups(Akihiko & Kanji) and characters that do practically everything with no real weakness(Aigis, Yu & Mitsuru). i understand that there are going to be tiers no matter what, but the play designs to me don't make any sense. the game could be even more polished. what do men and women think? Do think the game would be better if you could pick a Persona instead of having access to only one? like how you can select different Arcanas in the Arcana Heart games.
