Is this a terrible mentality to have whilst learning FGs?
mAc Chaos replied to Renvalt's topic in Beginner Mode
I had to laugh. So I'm not the only one that remembers. Anyway, you should get the idea out of your head that you "deserve" a certain level of competition. If you really are a beginner then why would they be forced to go 100%? It's like expecting Mike Tyson to go all out against a baby. You only deserve the amount you can earn. If someone can beat you with Stylish mode, then just consider that a skill level to get past, because if they can beat you with it then you should be focusing on beating that first. You might as well think of it as a different character. Plus, it could just be people wanting to play with you but picking sometihng so it'll be closer and they will have a bigger challenge too. Winning and skill level are relative. The guy that is dominating you gets dominated by somebody else. That means winning or losing does not have any inherent meaning in it, it all depends on what you get out of it. That is why you should focus on just improving yourself, and as a side effect you will win more. And you shouldn't pay attention to rank either. In BB it does not really accurately reflect anything except how many matches they have played. It also helps to have a challenger's mentality. When I was learning to play, I had the attitude that everybody was better than me, so it was only natural if I lost, so it's not a big deal. If I won, then it was a bonus. But I also assumed getting my better was inevitable, so any present difficulties didn't mean anything. You also get a huge thrill out of chasing and fighting people better than you, slowly catching up until you can beat them. (Just Saiyan.) You should look at each match as a step in a journey, rather than the goal itself. Your frustration comes because your mentality is: "I'm good enough to win against these people. I deserve to win, so it's a disgrace that I lost. It doesn't make sense." What you want it to be is: "These guys are all great, so it's only natural if they beat me. But I'll get better and win." Gotta give the competition their credit. -
That always happens to me. Five minute clip ~> 10 episodes later I'm halfway into Super Buu Vs Vegito.

That video had stuff cut out too. I actually get disappointed when fights in other series are so short by comparison.

1-ARMED NETPLAY SCUMBAG BODIES EVO MU-12 GOD "Dacid Bro stunned; speculates at devastation if 2nd arm used." PHOENIX (AP) — Tens of dollars changed hands in what was said to be the biggest and most lucrative takedown in BlazBlue history. The post-surgery upset sent tremors rippling through the community that left the audience divided even as mAc waltzed out of the arena. mAc fought as if he had never left the ring, coming back from an extended absence Tuesday night to win decisively over Nemesis in a heavyweight title fight. The game plan was trolling, and mAc followed it perfectly. With Mucky burping supportively from his corner, he dominated Nemesis in a performance not totally expected with a single arm. mAc was masterful at times, landing unblockable 3Cs and scumbag resets in a showing that mimicked some of his best fights. mAc threw Nemesis on several occasions, including a series of resets in the corner that buckled Nemesis' resolve. "I'm going to keep fighting and hopefully before mAc retires I'm going to get that shot again," Nemesis said. Buoyed by the excitement, everybody had something to say. "I knew it was over as soon as Nemesis started blocking," Errol said with an unfocused thousand-yard stare of somebody who had seen terrible things. "You just can't recover from that." Despite the analysis from the grizzled button pushing veteran, Toan's refined instincts told him something else. "The post first round gold bursts were key." "Yeah whatever. Hakumen and Mu are both mashy as fuck," Lich said as he put his character select cursor on Hazama. "They're just scrub characters." Ctrl, for his part, never doubted or a second. mAc had crafted much of his career using his counters as his main weapon, and said he turned to Ctrl -- who used to be his trainer -- to regain his old style. "Seriously, he always wins off such bullshit. It's not even funny," Ctrl said. "I swear the game glitches for him." "He kept staying on the defensive," said Nemesis' training partner, someonewhodied. "I thought we were going to go toe-to-toe with him." "That wasn't mAc. I'm mAc," somebody claimed before they were dragged out by security. At a high school in Phoenix, students in the audience interrupted mAc with a standing ovation, and asked him if he had anything to tell Nemesis. "Stay mad," he quipped.

Me too. What I mean is, you have less skills with your sub, so it's easier to fall back on more basic things. If he knew Haz inside out he would probably be just as aggressive, but since he doesn't, he can't.
-
Well, Mu is his main. It's easier to dick around with sub characters. He has to juggle all of her stein setups and get into an aggressive mindset. Although I can hold an intense mindset for pretty long, so I'm not sure why Nemesis gets burnt out quicker unless he just gets way more intense. I'm imagining him burning a hole through the TV with an angry stare until he gets a headache and has to take a break.
-
I hope this helps.

GGs Nemesis. I would play more but I'm getting dragged off to watch some Jay Leno. Were you working on defense?
