  1. The hardest part about setting up GGPO is port forwarding. Here's a little guide for it. Other than that just download the client, the roms, stick them in a rom folder, and you're good to go. If you get it setup and you can't connect to anyone, it might not be your fault, GGPO likes to play hard to get sometimes. Just try again later and see if you can connect to people. Some characters (Q-Bee in particular) sort of benefit from pads (really really fast IADs). I'm not sure how tech hitting would work on a pad, both because I don't play on a pad, and I play Anak.
  2. Does Pharaoh Magic and it's other variants have any practical use?
  3. Yeah we have weekly danisen ranbats on Saturdays. Recently due to the amount of people that have been coming, we've just had regular double elim tourneys.
  4. Short answer is no. As far as I'm aware this is mostly because of other issues with the platforms where you are able to play as other characters (Pyron, Donovan, Phobos) and not because of the characters themselves.
  5. Would this be the appropriate place to compile usernames for GGPO, Supercade etc. ? Edit: Perhaps a player database for each character?
  6. As far as I'm aware, Lei Lei is probably the best at zoning; and as for oki, I think Bishamon, and B.B. Hood are particularly strong. Hood just has dirty oki setups like standing roundhouse, or jumping round house. Bishamon's oki comes mostly form his ability to maintain pressure with a whiffed pursuit, as well as meaty unblockable ES Karame Dama. However, a lot of characters in this game have strong oki.
  7. It involves the mirage hit of his Dark Force or something like that.
  8. I only caught the last half of what Ken was explaining about Gallons unblockable when he was talking about it in GGPO. Is there somewhere I could look up the details, or maybe you could elaborate on it some?
  9. Anakaris is a very interesting or quirky character. He is considered to be the worst character in the game but if he can open you up he will tear you apart. Part of what makes him worse than the other members of the cast is that he was denied several of the universal tools given to everyone else like a pushblock or a regular throw (he CAN however, tech throws), and his guard cancel is the worst in the game as well as being ES-only (costs one meter). He is a fun character with amazing offense and great oki, but he requires a lot of work. Buy an official book. Hit Box info for standing normals can be found here: http://darkstalkers.moryou.com/savior/data-s/anakaris-s/anakaris-s.html A good character/strategy summary can be found here: http://vsav.mizuumi.net/wiki/Anakaris And some combos to get you started courtesy of Mr. gbursine: Matchups (courtesy of MightyMar) Anakaris: This matchup is a little strange because of how Anakaris works as a character, he has an incredibly difficult time dealing with his own pressure 1. because his defense is terrible and 2. because his offense is pretty legit. This matchup is going to be a lot of jumping back, and throwing curses/coffin drop. You can coffin drop if you expect the enemy Anakaris to throw out a curse, which you can follow up with a pursuit on hit. From this position, standard jab pressure and divekick/c.LK mixup should net you a down. As far as dealing with pressure, you don't have a lot of options, you mostly have to just be patient, block, and look for openings. Standing MP won't cut it in this matchup as an anti-air, stick to c.MP and c.HP. Victor: You want to be playing this matchup from midscreen. You want to be baiting and punishing slow moves that Victor will throw out (primarily c.HP), he's going to be doing the same thing so be extra careful with any move that has a significant amount of delay. Don't loosen up until the Victor player shows he's gonna be playing offensively or defensively. Don't let him get close if he's playing aggressively, his 360's are 1 frame so you don't want to be near him; additionally when you are pressuring him, watch our for GC, 360, or getting caught with a DF, 360 in the middle of your divekick. Delaying your divekicks slightly help negate the possibility of this happening, and getting slapped down with Victors LP, and in some cases it can be useful to bait Victors c.HP. If you want to throw curses, make sure you are full screen, Victor can punish with headbutt otherwise. EX hands is a good tool for corner pressure, but be careful if the Victor player shows a willingness to uppercut.
  10. btw does usa have a scene for vs? GGPO dood! We have more people in the Vampire Savior room every night!
  11. Nice top 8 at UFGT7 Kyle !
  12. Better or worse than one hit into infinite grab loops?
  13. Heres some more Zabel vids, this time of Sakai, considered the best Zabel in Japan right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_L6KmcMPfY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWDJIrUWLx0&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5jSBnf0-68&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTbH2Yt4kJE&feature=related

  15. Hey guys! I haven't touched BB in about a year and I have almost zero experience with CS. Are we still doing 2D loops or am I gonna have to scour some archives?
  16. There are more and more people playing on GGPO every day. There's a Vampire Savior thread on SRK that geared towards attracting new people to the game (it seems many many people are interested in it but there aren't many actual players). Nowadays we're getting around 30 people at peak times.
  17. Go Team Carl! Sorry I haven't been around much, I was hit by a car a few months ago and have been dealing with all of that. I'd love to play but I'm probably rusty as all hell, so you'd be better off with someone else.
  18. Way to go dood, congratulations! Also that video is pretty rad, thanks.
  19. I'm not sure if this has been posted or not but I think it could help some people a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW9S3ltNrmM&
  20. I keep my thumb on D and my fingers on the rest. It just feels the most natural to me. Although it shouldn't matter which control setup someone is using so long as they can perform with it.
  21. Any advice on catching Tao? In CT I would throw 8Ds out to try and mess up her approach but now its rather easy for her to stuff them. So far my Tao matches have consisted of me chasing her around for half a round with neither of us landing any big damage, and then I get stuck in a taunt loop. I feel even less comfortable waiting for her to come to me as I can't handle Tao's pressure.
  22. I haven't been able to play against many Tsubaki players so I came to ask you guys what would be a good way to play this matchup? I found myself using Ada a lot to block her 236 B/C/D and then punish accordingly.
  23. Thanks, this helped a bunch. I had been doing the 8]D[ too early so I was only getting single hit claps.
  24. Well Ono's announcement was a quite a disappointment. From the looks of things he implied that a new Darkstalkers game isn't something that Capcom is even interested in at the moment.
