I don't think I've fought many that do that after blocking. On hit, yeah. But I can probably surprise a good bunch. If you block in the air and try to dash after her, does she have time to do a 6D?

Posted

depends on range. from full screen yeah, if she didn't follow-up maybe? if yur close and you block it they'll probably just act pulsar backwards/forward or just IAD backwards though. Nu probably wouldn't take the risk of a j.C counterhit.

Posted

also the swords come in at the same time on every hit. IB the last and air dash. when they figure out what to do just hj out of there comfort zone.

I'm not sure if anyone said it already, but I noticed you can actually GRAB Nu out of her Act Parser. I think you have to IB the blockstrings to do it though. I can't do it consistently, so the positioning may have something to do with it.

OK, so I've been trying to use 5B to hit Nu out of her Act Parser, and I can't. I block the swords, then throw it out, but she's already behind me. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I can grab her, though. So that's something.

it's 2b not 5b. she has upper body invincibility. vulnerable to lows and throws. the throw is pretty situational though so I'd be careful about that. If you can determine the exact distances where throw will work and the timing involved, it'd be greatly appreciated. (not that you have to or anything :psyduck:)

I can't replicate it anymore. :gonk: Gotta try again. Can't do 2B either. If only there was a video out there or something that I could look at for it.

Yea JackG, i know this is a fairly noobish question to ask, but after watching you play and stomping a nu, and then recently playing a fairly competent nu irl (AirMaster). I have begun to see where hakumens barrier block so much once they are airborn against her or do their best to IB, she has several d's that are unblockable no?

BTW what does IIRC stand for?

EDIT:

2c, 6a, and (maybe) her giant sword super need to be IB'd/barrier'd in the air. I only assume giant sword because it would make sense :P

Giant sword can be j.d'ed tested ti out and it worked

He was only talking about her D moves. Are you air dashing during it? You can't block and air dash at the same time. But if you time your dash correctly, you'll get out of the dash movement just as she is able to shoot swords, so you can dash in and block on the way down. Or block, then dash first.

Yea strictly her d's, cus when I am airborn either with super or normal jump I am at times still hit with swords while pressing back

EDIT:

Oh, I meant the moves I listed were her only moves that had that attribute, indirectly saying her D moves do not. Shoulda been clearer sorry D:

Forgiven:keke:

You're doing something wrong then. You should be able to block them. It could just be that you happened to let go or something at the exact moment... or if you even begin to start an attack, you might get hit during the first few startup frames and think you're still blocking? If she had D swords you couldn't block, then... :8/:

hey since we're on the subject, i'm pretty sure barrier guarding makes hakumen's aerial hitbox just a little bit smaller. his lazy foot seems to be not part of his hitbox while he's barrier guarding.

Posted

I've had the same happen to me a few times, but I'd attributed it to either lag or me not blocking fast enough. In general, though, barrier'ing in the air is good practice because most characters have air unblockables (if not IB'ed or barrier'ed).

Oh God. I was once hit by Rachel's Sword Iris, even though it barely hit the tip of Haku's foot. Yeah, from then on, I've started using barrier guard more in the air.

I noticed that I'm having some trouble if Nu does her 214D~C (the long wave of swords that travels across the ground) from the other side of the screen. I can't airdash and punish from the other side of the screen. (I think...) I can super jump over and block to get closer, but then the player who does this just air swords me until I'm on the other side of the screen again, so I gain no ground and they can keep doing it.

Good guide, helps quite a bit. Now from what I experienced so far, (I started BB about a month ago) this match is still ridiculous vs players who don't know what they're doing--she's almost as mash-effective as Noel. Just putting that out there.

Pretty much. Luckily, must Nu's online (if that is were you're playing) usually aren't very good, so you can eek out a win.

If you fight a Nu and the player knows what they're doing, at that point it really seems like you should just put the controller down and maybe make a sandwich, or get a glass of milk. You know, do something productive rather than just sit and watch your ass become a pincushion for her swords.

Super double jump, they'll eventually reach the corner which will for them to try ad get past you since they continuously back up as you try to get close to them. That is the time to strike when they are close in on you.

Yeah, you can counter it. But that just leaves you where you started... I think I've got this handled though. I seem to have more trouble against Nu's that just mindlessly spam C and D than good ones. O_o To quote, "sometimes you're so predictable that you become unpredictable." :eng101:

^ Good Nu's that make effective use of gravity wells are near impossible to beat unless they make a mistake. Bad Nu's chip away at your health, but you'll likely blow them away once you get in with your 8 stars.
