Ceirnian Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Anyone have any good setups to use this? Litchi section is kind of dead so at least it's somethign to discuss. Sometimes when I get bored in casuals will try to go for her astral finish. So far I've found that even if you start the AH as a counter to Jin's super fireball you will go through it fine but he has plenty of time to block since the startup is so slow. Would be nice if this could be used in a serious match and be useful.
LayZ Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I usually do it after the 623+D. I don't know any set ups for it, I just know you can choose which side she attacks from by holding that direction.
individuals Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgcQD5elWYA at 5:37 litchi does a combo where she is standing on the staff (req for astral heat) so maybe u can do the AH right after one of the hits?
Lord Knight Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Tried it and several other setups and failed. Tried using it as a tech roll punish and failed. . . .Just wait for Japan to do something
Brent-quest Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 It's an Astral Heat, they aren't really made to be practical.
Chun Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 It's an Astral Heat, they aren't really made to be practical. Yet it is pretty practical for some characters, thus the inquiry. ~Chun
Jthan Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Yet it is pretty practical for some characters, thus the inquiry. ~Chun enlighten us.
Chun Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 enlighten us. Ragna has a combo in which links directly into his astral finish, guaranteed. Rachel can guarantee an Astral hit by locking down an opponent with wind correctly. V-13's Astral can be activated instantly as any other command throw. If you don't know these by now I'd be surprised. There's no reason to abandon research for it if other characters find it plausible, (Though the frame startup and setup is pretty much impossible as it looks). ~Chun
individuals Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 so i guess you can only use it to punish an atk that has uber long recovery @___@ or as LK said, japan will find a way.
Ceirnian Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Yeah I'm starting to lose hope, even when done to pass through a projectile or when someone whiffs when you trying to knock you off the staff it STILL is easily blocked. It's so slow I don't really see this ever working... but I will randomly try new stuff as it comes to mind. Here's hoping someone finds a way to somehow combo into it or at least punish something.
BardicKnowledge Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 It wouldn't be guaranteed, but would it be a possible finisher to 5B 2C itsuuA kote (623) haku hatsu riichiA ippatsu A~ assuming they tech the wrong direction? Just start charging as Litchi hops onto the staff, and after the ippatsu A, in theory it could work if they tech backwards. Won't combo, but at least you're on the staff charged safely.
Naters Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 i found out you can trick people because if you hold D she stays off the screen longer and you can come in front of them or behind them to make them have to guess.
individuals Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 i found out you can trick people because if you hold D she stays off the screen longer and you can come in front of them or behind them to make them have to guess. oh that sounds interesting. how long can u stay off for? havent got a chance to play my 360 recently @_@.
Jthan Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 If you press and hold D she stays off the screen until you release D. Whatever direction you're holding when you release D is the direction she kicks from (holding right when you release D, she dive kicks right to left, and vice versa).
Dovieandi Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 If you press and hold D she stays off the screen until you release D. Whatever direction you're holding when you release D is the direction she kicks from (holding right when you release D, she dive kicks right to left, and vice versa). I did some testing, and found this to be untrue. The direction she comes from is determined by what direction you're holding as she jumps offscreen. Once she's offscreen, you can't change which side she'll come from. Do [4] 6D and hold forward, once she's offscreen, start holding back and release, she still comes from the forward side. She does jump back onscreen wicked fast though.
Naters Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I'm so glad that you can trick the opponent like this, I can accually hit people with it now.
Dovieandi Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Does the timing on the charge for her astral different in Training or something? I couldn't get her astral off for the life of me in a match yesterday. All the requirement were met. Usually just the time it takes for Litchi to jump to the staff is enough time, but when that didn't work I tried to take more time and it wouldn't come out. Are Astrals enabled in ranked matches?

Dovieandi Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Well, that gave me a laugh. Still, Rachel, Nu and Ragna can Astral in Ranked matches? That... just doesn't make any sense. Also figures they each have practical Astrals with either guaranteed set-ups, combo potential or 0 frame start-up.
