Yea I know what you mean. I played with him a bit in VH and VS. He seems better in VH imo, but overall it just seems that he has everything one needs to win, and with ease. I'm leaning more towards playing as Donovan. I don't know whether you guys allow him in VS1 or not. Yea, The Chaos Tower is the only game that I'd even consider getting a PSP for.

I really do hate this 2.5D shit. I mean don't get me wrong it's cool for games like Smash where it "feels" right or games like Vampyre Story where it doesn't matter much, but a 2D fighter's playable characters should be just that 2D (IMO).

So what other monsters/myths could they put in the Darkstalkers series? Honestly I feel like they've tapped out every niche and would have to go SUPER niche in order to create GOOD new characters......

Dunno, probably in Mid level play. I'm pretty sure he's one of those "high risk, high reward" deals because I read somewhere that whenever he does get played in a tourney, he either makes it to the final rounds or wins it all.

You sure you want that? New characters? Because they had enough problems as it was trying to include all of their ORIGINAL characters. Lol but I guess since you have a chinese ghost in Lei-Lei, they could create a japanese one similar to the girls in The Ring, The Grudge, Shutter, etc. movies. Or add a character who's a twist on fairy tales ala Bulleta. I don't want to get too conventional with Jason, Freddy, Mike Myers clones because that would just be totally stupid.

Mike, I honestly would love more characters. The more character the better I fair in a game. Street Fighter Alpha comes to mind. But anything over 20 in aight to me.

You have 20 characters counting Dee and Anita, who was playable in one of those old Vs series games(can't remember which one) and who'll likely be playable as an adult if a future DS game is made, especially since the original plan was to have Donovan die off in VH and have an adult Anita(like in Dee's ending) come back in DS3 with a few of Donovan's moves. Also, this is not to mention all the secret variations of existing characters, etc. Plus, they have minor characters that could be potential new characters (like the little boy who follows Phobos/Huitzil around in his matches as Anita does Donovan) so I'd especially hate it if they neglected to use one of their own storyline characters and came up with some other, less inspired creation. Like how GG still hasn't given us Raven, but yet we get Order-Sol, who I was never hyped on. Alpha3 didn't need all those characters and most were added just for fans or nostalgic purposes. MvC2 had 50+ characters because it was supposed to be an ultimate dream match crossover and all they had to do was TWEAK a few fighters so as to make them fit the system. How many did they actually create from scratch and who were original? 4 maybe? I'm always down for a decent number of characters in a game. This gives a good selection and helps that game from becoming stale and boring from seeing the same few match-ups over and over, again and again. Can you guess what I DON'T like? No variety (as in cloning), and excessive imbalance, like what's found in MvC2 and in 3s when you get to the higher levels. Because even they there might be a lot of characters, only a handful are really effective and actually get played. I just started playing Darkstalkers so I don't yet know tiers and if all characters get a fair amount of play. But by randomly watching a few videos, I HAVE saw next to all characters( and a lot of Demitri but that's besides the point) get play. So I would definitely want new characters but I'm not always so hyped for it because I feel that if not done right, the developers may neglect others/ existing ones. And this IS a capcom game after all. Quantity of characters don't make a game. Quality of characters do.

And do they have any exceptional depth, or do they just play like their SFII counterparts with a little icing on top?

Unfortunately I have to get ds3, because I decided against buying a ps2 to mod. I think that $140 I would have to spend sets me back too much.... ($90 for the ps2, 20, swap disc, and 15 for the case, and 15 for shipping all of that). I can get complete copies of Darkstalkers 1 and 3 for a hundred, and still have 40 to put toward putting money towards Battle Fantasia that ships the 27th of May. I hope that they have exceptional depth.....I mean I need some depth in my gameplay to play a game.

It's not really unfortunate besides the fact that a few frames of animation were removed, it's not arcade perfect, and there's load times. But you have every character playable and every version playable in ONE game almost right from the go. VDC, I have to choose which game I want to play because each one has different stuff unless I arrange it (kind of how you do for SFA3 Upper in SFAA, except this lets me customize so much shit) and it's gets a bit overwhelming because I'm new and don't yet know the character differences from game to game and stuff. Plus I probably won't fuck around with the customization options and arrange mode except to enable all characters in VS1. But it's like I WANT to play VS2 and VH2 but everyone seems to just play VS1. DS3 for ps1 also has an 'Original Character Mode' that lets you take a current character and edit it's appearance and moves. This is the one thing that I remember from my friend having it back in the day and it was so much fun. DS3 probably has a better art gallery than VDC too, I don't know. Plus you get all the music and all endings, win quotes, and texts in english. I'm mad because I can't read SHIT. But yea, it looks like ps1 DS3 sacrifices a little and gets a lot. You're not a hardcore player so you won't notice or care about the imperfect arcade gameplay stuff. Hell, I want DS3 now and I plan on getting it too anyway. And we gotta start a scene here. All I know as of yet is that DGC and the twins play it but I'm pretty sure everyone else is familiar with it or played it to some extent. To be honest, I'd rather play it over GG and 3s if it had as big of a scene. The presentation and everything is THAT good.

Well to get a complete copy, you will have to sacrifice about $50. But if things are a good as you say they are, the scene will grow. Caleb will play no matter what as long as it isn't Guilty Gear.

Everyone seems to love Demitri. Well, as of now I haven't really "learned" anyone. I've loved Bulleta ever since I first played with her in MvC2. And I like Victor even though he's not a real grappler. Morrigan is pretty cool imo, and I'd like to try to get decent with Donovan if it's not too hard. Like I said, we're in the same area so if you have any free time or wanted to get a few games in then let me know. It'd be nice for me to see how the game is really supposed to be played. EDIT: Pyron is so fucking cool.
