mr_tolkien Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Noob question here : Is hatsu -> RiichiiA a cancel or a link ? I get the impression it's a cancel when I see the vids, but can't get to do it in matches
mr_tolkien Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Thanks. I have a LOT of problems with it, and I really don't understand why...
DubiousCurvLoop Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I have a question about the barrier return. Does Litchi regain the staff substantially faster using that technique, or is the difference subtle, like a couple frames or so? I'm trying to use it and I don't notice any difference from the regular return at all, but I don't know if I'm just performing it incorrectly.
Cornix Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 It does return faster, but not in a way that you would really notice unless you're not doing it. You won't really 'see' much in it, but should you do certain things (i.e. airdash/move quickly) the staff while you barrier return will be on you and you will be in mantenbou state, however if you don't it will still be following you and you'll be staffless. It's difficult to notice much but it does help quite a bit and is the only way some combos are possible iirc.
DubiousCurvLoop Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Ahh, it all makes sense now. Thanks Cornix.
lime93 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Ok, just started trying to learn Litchi and I got some combos down but there was one thing I can never do and that is j.B>j.C>5C I can never get this to work any tips on landing this?
DJHUOSHEN Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Throw a 5B before 5C? I assume this is a jump in approach.
Crevlis Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I just started CS and tried my hands on Litchi but I need some help on the starter of her combos. I know most of her combos but is just that sometimes it always a miss hit for me especially 5b, 2c, itsuuA, Haku, Hatsu, riichiA ippatsuA.... i cant seem to get the ippatsuA to hit and they already tech out it. Any ideas

Lord Knight Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Alternatively you can do dash 6kote (6623d) > haku hatsu. This is the preferred method of many players and is more stable than the varying delays of haku > hatsu (which is based on distance).
DopeSauce Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 hey guys i wanted to try out litchi and she seems pretty fun but i was wondering is it better to know alot of combos or to just use a few really good combos? cause it would seem like learning alot of combos is useless if you wouldnt actually use them
DJHUOSHEN Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Litchi is one of few characters with multiple combos on the sheer fact that her position and the opponent's position matter in a very high level of detail. If you only wanna learn 2-3 combos, she's not the one to play.
baka-busu Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I have a few litchi questions: after 3C, does litchi HAVE to TK her 236C to combo properly? Also, I am trying to get used to her 5b > 2C > 41236A: I get to her 236B but when I jump on the staff they usually air recover before I can kick them. Whats the timing like with that combo. And finally What are some good block strings? thanks
ril213 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 for the 1st ques. 3c tk236c only works in CT iirc. the manten return state was removed in CS. as for the next one, do dash kote after the itsuuA then haku hatsu. it should put u in front as the opp. flies so ippatsuA can connect.

Im sorry im not 100% on all of litchis terminology. by dash kote do you mean, 66 then 623D? cuz after the 2nd hit of itsuuA I do 623D without dashing

Anasthetics Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Whats the best way to get good with litchi? I was reading her combo thread and shes got so many complicated combos that it made my head hurt. I really want to get good with her though. Should I learn all the combos or just learn maybe one or 2 of her combos? If so what are her best combos? This character is beyond advanced. I started off learning one of her combo starters 5B 2C itsuuA 6Kote Haku Hatsu riichiA ippatsuA ippatsuB 2D....I can barely even get that to connect and thats just the beggining of the combo >_<....seriously any tips on getting good with her? I main Bang and Sub Hazama but also want to play as Litchi....seems to be good with her you have to only play with her and her only....
DJHUOSHEN Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Playing Litchi is basically learning two characters at once, since her staff and staffless 'stances' play differently in ways that are important if you want to get good with her. Learn: One Corner ItsuuA combo One Corner ItsuuC combo One Midscreen ItsuuA combo One Midscreen ItsuuC combo One Fullscreen ItsuuA combo One Fullscreen ItsuuC combo and 1-2 4D combos. If you spend the time learning all of that, you'll probably cover a lot of ground on her and get pretty decent pretty quickly.
Anasthetics Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 So I stumbled upon this corner trap that goes : Tsubame Gaeshi (to cornered opponent) -> 6C -> 5D whenever the person I'm playing has stopped bouncing -> 6C rinse and repeat. Aside from barrier bursting, is there any way out of this trap once you're in it? I've yet to have people tech out of it no matter what, and even the training dummy couldn't get out, so I'm rather curious. Does this Loop still work in CS?

DJHUOSHEN Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Tsubame -> 6C -> 5D -> 6C was never a corner trap in the first place, unless your opponent was mad terrible. So no. And if you're learning an ItsuuA combo it will normally have a Riichi in there by default. Ideally anyway.

Guess im going to need to work on my Kote and Riichi before I can start using itsuuA combos. Im pretty basic with my combos right now. The main combos I use are: 5B 5C 3C itsuuc JB jc JBC Hatsu Chun 5B 2C itsuuA haku hatsu chun Staffless: 5B 5C 2C 6C 2B 2C JB jc.BC hatsu Chun usually they end up in the corner after any of those combos. I need to work on my corner lockdown as well.
