Runis Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Too Bad you can't 4D Tao's drive lunges. FC 4D whiff d.6A d.6C d.5D 623D would be a nice "yeah you aren't getting away with bullshit" response.
Nini Heart Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 After all, if it was an unbeatable strategy more people would probably do it. People probably don't know about it. Ever seen a Noel vs Tao in a tournament? Didn't think so. Only thing i can think of is 6C spam and hope she gets hit by a random bullet.
BmastaG Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Even though it takes alot of patience (and a bit of luck) Noel can still counter tao's drives with revolver blast. u dont even have to hit with it. just use 2369C whiffs to keep her outa the air for a while. Just remember that NOTHING always works or fails with noel matchups.
SkyKing Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 I actually lost a GF in a local tourney to a Tao. I normally try to maintain my airspace with jumpback A and B. I try not to stay on the ground when Tao has momentum since her mixups are pretty nuts with her ability to stop her strings into drive tricks. Getting even a decent combo off of her is advantageous, especially a knockdown. I try to limit my drive uses as so not to get predictable and possibly eating a reaction super. Surprisingly, I personally use 6A in this match to try and sneak in a CH pursuit combo. Other than that, it'll just depend on the style of the Tao to understand which moves use.
eLPointe Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 From what I know, you have to be extremely patient. Sit back and focus on blocking whatever drives they send at you for chip damage, and try to read an incoming attack so you can 6a/5c poke them out of it into damage. After all, if it was an unbeatable strategy more people would probably do it. I agree with you 100%, With Tao I pretty much always sit back and block until an opening comes up. Remember this though, a lot of Tao's attack low. What this means is, 2D goes over them and counters, she has a 3 hit low block string that everyone uses, noel can counter this easily with 2D. another thing to do is when your in the air and falling, if she is below you, you can 5D. Catch them trying to do something for a counter and get some decent damage off. You can also 5d in the air and hit her out of her drive and into an okay combo for 2.5k or so. You have to be above her though...of course.
bmore303 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Online, you're screwed if you're not playing on an optimal connection. Offline, let their block string commence, it's just as bad as ours and has holes in it, just remember Tao's love to crawl under everything. So lows may be your saving grace. As for that tactic, be patient, and try to predict the trajectory. That tactic just plain blows and Noel has no answer like a lot of the cast.

As I mentioned before 2D is IMO Noels best option vs Tao's who like to low jab a lot. Other than that, you are right in regards to this fight consisting of a lot of blocking. Get use to random mix ups/cross ups because Tao's will do them constantly.
