Name some mains you've had in other games, maybe we can help pin one for you to learn further that you'd enjoy.

Don't really see how that will work considering each fighting game has their own feel but what the hell:

Nightmare

Jam

Akuma

Hayate/Hayabusa (DOA... Quick! Hand me a flame shield!)

Honestly though, I've messed around with all the characters in BB several times. None of them are really doing it for me.

I've tried Tao and she is a complete bitch to control. Not to mention I put in all this work to master a combo and once I got it down I looked at the damage dealt and was a little disgusted. All that work for such a small damaging combo is a turnoff. If that's how it's going to be all the time then forget that.

Litchi was next because she was supposedly the Jam of this game (or so I've been told) and she was a mind bender for me. I'm still not quite sure how she should be played. Seems like she requires some multitasking and that's definitely not one of my strong points. The whole two modes thing is a lot to wrap my head around as well.

I tried out Haku-men because he had a badass character design but facepalmed once I saw his unique gauge. His gauge reminded me of the limited items/ammo you'll find in other games. I'm one of those people that will stock up on this stuff and never use it because I have it stuck in my head that if I use it now, I'm going to be hating myself later because I'm really going to need it then. So there have been several rounds where it would end with me having a complete gauge.

Ragna followed afterwards and he was pretty straight forward. Only took a whole 5 minutes to figure him out, the more I messed with him though the more I noticed I started to struggle with him. His health isn't that great and I tend to get real risky so I've had that cost me more matches than I'd like to admit. It also seems like people are finding lots of effective ways to shut him down and this causes me to take more of a wait and see approach with him, which is odd because he's suppose to be the aggressor.

Jin was alright but then I ventured into the Sea of Jin's that is online and decided nope, not going to main this guy.

Bang is lulz. I would never main this guy but I will pick him every now and then because the guy has personality to spare.

Noel seems kind of masher friendly so I didn't mess with her too much. I see plenty of her online anyways though.

I tend to just keep jumping between all of these characters. So I guess it's a good thing I've narrowed it down. I know for sure Arakune, v-13, Rachel, Tager, and Carl are not for me. Kudos to the guys who can use these characters. Like I said, I'm going to have to force myself to pick one.:vbang:

Well, first time I played it on an Arcade machine, I was like, "Ragna=Sol. I play sol, this'll be a sinch." Then I put in my 50p and goddamn was I proven wrong. I played Ragna the whole 3 days the machine was there (conventions and whatnot), and then I got home and pre-ordered It for import on the PS3, knowing that I'd be playing Ragna. I'd tried others, but seeing as it was costing money, I stuck to tried-and-true. Now that I own it on the PS3, though, I've begun to appreciate the rest of the roster. I Half-Sub Tager at the moment, and dabble in everyone else. However, now, I'm just being blown away by Bang, cause he's awesome, but I had no idea how awesome he was. So for now, It's Ragna, but it's not definite. Could be Bang in about a week.

Played Taokaka for a few weeks because I liked her combos but wasn't playing all that well. One day just before console launch a few of us were fucking around and I picked Rachel and did decently, so ProtomanSTi suggested I stick with her. So I tried her out when I got the console version and I really liked her.

Based on video's of his playstyle and design, my original choice was Hakumen.

However, once I experienced Bang's spiral power, the choice was clear.

The translation of "Omae no Tettsui ni Kugi wo Ute!" says it all.

The in-game Bang Install lyrics seem slightly different than the actual song...

Also I don't put much faith in this translation (because I did it myself) but the romanization at least seems to match (sing along!):

I really wanted to main Noel, but once I saw the combos I'd need to do my spirits were weakened. Then when I picked up the game and tried to play her, it pretty much crushed any current ideas that I'd be playing her since I have god awful execution at this point. Working in the dashing in combos is my ultimate Achilles heel. I tried everyone and settled on Nu for a while, then decided to try Jin again and low and behold I found my main. It wasn't for the freezing either, that was kind of a bonus. I found that he seems to have some of the easiest executions in the game so I went with him. I liked Tager too, but Jin being faster, having multiple DPs, projectiles, and then freezing kinda made the decision for me. Maybe I'll pick up Tager as a secondary some time in the future.

I like Tai - esk fighters. I believe that they have the best tools and are quite balanced when it comes to speed/power and they are the biggest threat to shotos

I started out with Arakune, because I liked the character design and the fact that he could shoot bugs, but quickly migrated over to the Tager-meister, because I really liked the magnetism mechanic and the throw combos and such.

I'm having trouble actually thinking of what actually attracted me to playing Rachel honestly. Best I can remember, the first time I saw her art and announcement of the character, I pretty sure I said something along the lines of "Hmm, a vampire", and that was about it. I think it was only after I read her moveset and saw the demo that Aksys had shown with the limited character selection that actually got me interested. I remember being terrified, since I commonly pick low tier characters. It happened in GG, CvSNK2, AH, Tekken, SF I guess wasn't so bad since I played Ryu and Bison. But I played a lot of Dizzy at first in GG before moving to May, and CvSNK2... I used Ryu, Nakururu, and Bison under K groove. It didn't help that most of the time, characters that use some kind of familiars or other creatures to fight with/for them are usually extremely technical and/or low tier. So, you could imagine how excited a person like me was to see that the character I liked was actually good for once.

Carl and Noel... Dude wears a top hat and likes robots/puppets, and Noel is a cute girl with guns! They're the two characters that caught my eye first so I went training mode crazy with them when I finally got the game. I progressed a billion times faster with Noel obviously. Got her 22C Loop and BnB Drive combo down etc. Now I'm finally figuring out how to set shit up in an actually match with her. I'm happy with my improvement rate. As for Carl... still want to learn him, but he is taking the backseat for now until I'm 99% happy with my Noel.

Ragna... because I wanted an easy rushdown character. And thankfully, Ragna definitely isn't hard to play. Now I learn Rachel... Catchair, George XIII. and that kickass Astral. Besides in videos you see that spectecular corner pressure, took my breath away. And definitely a change from Ragna... at least I have learned how to somewhat zone and catchair people so I don't get completely mindlessily rushed down anymore :psyduck:

They do, and it's fun, also somewhat distracting to opponents.

Natural advantage! Litchi should move up a tier just cuz of that.:eng101:

I knew Litchi was for me because the first time I picked up the game I picked litchi and my opponent played tao, I haven't looked back since I saw that special opening.

Back in the day, all I played was SoulCalibur, I mained Voldo. My handle here and on XBL is Manas Ayus, which are the names of Voldo's weapons. I liked him because he moved so erratically, and it was very easy to trick the opponent with him. When I first started playing, I figured I would main Tao because she has a lot of cross-ups and her speed seemed as though it would overwhelm most of the characters. After going through the whole tutorial DVD I watched Arakune and realized how involved playing him was; at the same time I noticed he has a lot of mix-ups, traps, and ways to disorient the opponent. Also the way he does not speak well reminds me of Voldo... So Arakune is was! Still looking for a sub though...

i first picked Litchi because the obvious fan service but i once tried Rachel by mistake and since then i only play rachel, her playstyle suits me better, im planning on main both but for now Rachel is my char
