Just my overview of Xrd for Steam.

My laptop has an i7 6700HQ and GTX 960M, which I guess is pretty strong. Input lag and game speed seems the same as PS3/PS4, no problems running 60 FPS fullscreen with max in-game settings. I can also record a stable 60 FPS with OBS.

Price: $29.99 US (currently $24 for Xrd AND all DLC voices, colors, and characters)

File size: Steam says 10295 MB, so about 10 GB

Display

At max settings, PC Xrd arguably looks even better than PS4 version. https://youtu.be/yrYH_nyahnw

You can set Quality/Processing Priority like PS3 and also V-Sync and Anti-Aliasing (FXAA, MLAA, SMAA). Interestingly, you can also toggle Post-Effects, which definitely changes the look of some things. http://i.imgur.com/gX8wuUi.jpg

Resolutions: My monitor is native 1920x1080. I can select 640x360, 800x450, 1280x720, 1366x766, 1920x1080, and Fullscreen (also 1920x1080 for me). I can't seem to screencap in Fullscreen though, it always shows up as a blackscreen.

Here's Central Organ Tower on 1280x720, Processing Priority, Post-Effects off. Looks similar to PS3. http://i.imgur.com/x4PUo6v.jpg

You can enable an FPS display, which is shown above the round timer.

The menu textures look kinda ugly. The game doesn't hide your mouse pointer, there's probably some setting that can though.

Loading Times

No noticeable difference from console. Loading screens and pre-match loading are just as long.

Selecting Rematch still requires loading :(

Controls

Dualshock 4 works just fine.

Seems like most people have no issues with their sticks.

In game buttons use icons of keyboard keys and Xbox buttons instead of PS4 buttons.

Uses Circle to confirm and X to cancel, like Japanese console.

Mapping buttons is a bit different. You have to press Circle to select a button to change then press the button you want to map to, so twice as many inputs. Probably going to be annoying when rotating players. http://i.imgur.com/dYkSzoD.jpg

You can't save Custom profiles, which kinda sucks.

The Default layout (Pad layout) seems to have the bumpers and triggers swapped, this might get fixed later.

Network

No crossplay with PS3/PS4.

Netplay does not use Region/Districts, you can only choose Ranked/Player Match. http://i.imgur.com/hfeG7RD.jpg

You select Character+Stage+BGM like console.

Player Match search seems to be the same. You can also filter by Number of Rounds, which I don't remember seeing on console.

I can't figure out how to invite friends. Selecting "Friend Invitation" in the Player room menu doesn't seem to do anything.

I get bad FPS in Player room for some reason. Around 45-55 FPS compared to 60 FPS in every other menu.

PS3/PS4 cannot connect to 5 GHZ wireless networks, so there might be some benefits here if you have to play on wireless.

Will be testing connection later.

DLC

Leo and Elphelt are indeed available for purchase with $W from the gallery but I don't have the prices since they were included for free this week. http://i.imgur.com/mxsnv0a.jpg

All colors are in, including the DLC color packs (7-12), Christmas (13), and PS+ (14). http://i.imgur.com/oD4oogS.png

Announcer Packs sound fine.

Vocal Collection and "Wanna Be Crazy" can be found in the Xrd folder in your Steam folder (Program Files/Steam/steamapps/Common) as 192 kbps mp3s. You can also navigate here by going to Xrd Properties then Steam > Local Files > Browse Local Files.

Wanna Be Crazy is 4:23 long.

Language

English/Japanese voices can be toggled, like console.

Menu language can be set to English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese. The game will need to restart before changes take effect.

You can set the game to 1440p or 4K (or any arbitrary resolution) using INI tweaks.
HUD elements appear to be using the PS3 assets rather than PS4 (OOOPS), so they look awful. I hope this is an easy fix.

Well, the port is great, but yeah, usual updates and such will be needed, other than that, the character unlock prices for Elphelt and Leo are the same as Sin's, 200K W$ each. (600K W$ total, unchecked the DLC characters to see the prices though. Checked makes them unlocked automatically.)

Update/Edit: Changed to right numbers, for some reason, I thought I saw another 0, lol.

Hmm, I was able to invite friends on my steam friends list with this. Standard steam invite dialogue.

Using PS3 hud textures is weird, the textures for keyboard-keys and xbox 360-buttons are also pretty bad but doesn't take away much. Lobbies might be broken. I tried to join some public lobbies and when i joined, I got the text that every player in the lobby left and joined. See http://i.imgur.com/vBptN3E.jpg (Screenshot windowed but same shitty textures in fullscreen) Was able to play a match but mid-match if someone joined the lobby I got the same thing, tons of text of everyone leaving and joining again and during this my fps dropped dramatically. I have a pretty strong computer and it's usually dead steady 60fps.

I joined a different lobby a bit later with players, when I joined I got the same left/joined from every player but this time only one player was at a cab. I joined his cab and got the message that I had to wait for that player, so I'm guessing he was still mid match and so was the rest in the lobby, just fucky stuff happening.

Apart from that, alt+enter switched between windowed and fullscreen which is nice. Lack of loading times is almost unsettling.

Lack of loading times? How long does it take for you to load a match offline?

My laptop has a 5400 RPM SATA drive, so it'd be nice if upgrading to a SSD would cut loading times.

I tried a few player matches but the delay was all dreadful. My net has been somewhat skippy lately but I ran a speedtest and it seemed to be okay (14 mb/s down, 1.80 up) Not sure if that's simply not enough bandwidth to the handle the game or if it was someone else on my network, or my opponents network, that was causing the problem, but it seemed universal in every match I tried. Any tips I could try to improve the connection would be nice.

@Oiboi are you sure you're getting 60fps constant? I played a guy who had 50fps and it got us to 11f delay even though he's somewhat close.

@daymendou https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmtNXG6DX9A made a short clip of going from title screen to ingame arcade match. I've been playing this game on PS3 for a year now but I'm not sure what the loading times are on PS4. I'm not running the game off my SSD either.

A speedtest is no indication of the connection quality between you and your would be opponents.

Gave it a spin online. Had a lot of 2f delay connections, was pretty cool. Had one guy that had a 1f connection, but it was choppy, so he was prob playing on wireless or maybe had a crappy computer.

Yeah, make sure you're running at 60fps or it seems to crank up the delay (to match the frames?  idk) for both people.  When it worked, the netplay was very playable, but there were a lot of issues with sudden drops, lobby crashes, etcetera.

Other than netplay wonkiness and the really ugly UI the port seems fine.  I didn't notice any extra delay from the console version or anything, and didn't have any problems with the game,

Posted

@Nyaa Oh you meant between menus. Yeah it's like that for me too, nice little boost from console.

I'll be trying it offline this Saturday, though there's a supposed memory leak.

Posted

There is? Does it cause stuttering? I sometimes got a lot of stuttering in some matches but my fps counter was still stable 60 fps, my opponent didn't notice anything.

I had a peek at what gamefiles were possible to change (I want hitboxes ffs) but didn't have a lot of luck. The langauge files however are freely editable.

Filepath is Steam\SteamApps\common\GUILTY GEAR Xrd -SIGN-\REDGame\Localization for those who cares.

Likely still too early to ask but are there already some modders who showed interest in developing a free roam camera mod like for Street Fighter 4 and Mortal Kombat X? The action shots would look incredible with the more dynamic perspectives. The lightning and shadows likely will not follow the camera so that the characters lose a bit of the 2D illusion but they would still look splendid.

Timing feels abit off for me, and both my monitor and TV, on PC and PS3 respectively, have low input delay.

It's like the extra input buffer the console had is gone, and on PC it runs slightly faster too (at 60fps and everything).

I've seen reports of the game being region-locked (EU can't play with EU, NA can't play with NA, etc). Can anyone confirm this or want to test it with me? (I'm in EU)

Here are some issues I've posted on the Steam forums that I've noticed during online play.

  • When people enter a room, their connection quality is set to 0 for a while before it turns into an accurate number
  • When the host finishes a match, there is a random chance that all players except for the host and their opponent are sent to the bottom of the room (the part where you idle before you select a "cabinet"). This means spectators waiting for their turn are sent to the bottom as well
  • There is a random chance, during gameplay, for random disconnects for all players who aren't the host and their opponent. I receive notifications in the match of 4+ people leaving the room at once (what makes this worse is that it covers a good chunk of my screen)
  • Regarding the previous two points: players might stay in the room even if it says they disconnected, but they'll still be kicked back to the bottom of the lobby.
  • When inviting friends, they will connect for a few seconds before the game says that it couldn't establish a connection to host (or something like that). I have tested this with the following methods all with the same result: I host and friend joins; Friend hosts and I join; private slots disabled; private slots enabled; public room; specific room (with Search ID code).
  • Online play seems to be region-locked. EU players are unable to join/find US players and vice-versa. Seen reported in this thread. Have not confirmed it yet myself.

Runs at a stable 60fps in pmode for me on fullscreen with AA and quality priority, and I have a somewhat weak/old rig (Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2,4GHz, Windows 7 32 bit, 4GB RAM (effectively only 3GB), Radeon HD 5750), so this is pretty great. Even keeps 60fps when there's a lot of stuff (can put out 16 oil barrels with Faust without any fps drops). Framerate sometimes drops during loading screen or in character select but that is pretty much irrelevant. I can't record with 60fps but that was expected really.

Netplay is bugged for me. Framerate drops to 10fps in the player room, and I constantly get messages of people joing and leaving the room, and nothing really happens. If I go back to pmode afterwards the framerate is completely fucked, and I have to restart the game.

You must have a horrible computer if you wonder whether or not the PC version looks better than the PS4 version. It looks miles better, and I am not even exaggerating here. Its on a completely different level.

The current version has a memory leak. After a couple hours frames will decrease and you start dipping into the mid 50s. If that happens you need to simply restart the game. However, I do have a feeling that this has an impact on the entire lobby. So as soon as the host has dipping frames, everybody else starts lagging automatically. There was one room that made my FPS tank to 40fps prior to even having done anything. In other rooms the FPS were still at a stable 60.

The game runs on a goddamn toaster, tried it out with one of my laptops. The bugs are annoying though. The net code is equal to the PSNs, maybe even slightly better. The biggest problem are bugs so its hard to actually judge.

Down-sampling from 4K simply makes the game look ridiculously good.

I'd like to know your laptop's specs since I'm sitll kinda paranoid. For comparison I'm running an i5 2.60GHz with a GeForce GT 635M card.

Definitely runs. I know a guy with a 630m and it runs on his. You can also down scale it to something like 1100x700 or something, which is why it runs on everything.

New Member. Played a few hours yesterday and about 10 matches online(PLAYER MATCH). I thought the net-code was fine but it showed I had a 2F delay above my health bar with a 3 connectivity.

2F is good.
