Blade Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 I can't really say, but I suspect it probably isn't. Ky only used the Fuuraiken during situations where a mission called for it, such as an investigation. In that situation the sword he's using looks more for public decoration or simply for private use. The Fuuraiken itself is an OutRage fragment after all, so just using it bears some deal of responsibility. Of course, speaking chronologically, Ky used up the Fuuraiken's power to prevent the Maiden of the Grove's Sublimation. As to when that actually took place is unknown as of yet. Probably just prior to the events of GG2 whereas that scene where he's meeting with Sol was at least 2 years before, since Sin hasn't grown much yet (thinking in Gear terms). Also, a side mention, Ky and Sol both have gotten into the habit/hobby of weapon modding. Sol altered his Fuuenken, and Ky modified the Aquila to function similarly to the Fuuraiken.
Big K Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 By Translation you mean from the "original" Japanese Text? I don't believe so...but then I also believe that the current Accent Core Plus would be a sufficient enough translation to get you what you need to know. Didn't you know it came out stateside by Aksys Games from Arc System Works? What I mean by translation, is actually just reading the script of story on that game; you know like what they have on GameFaqs with Guilty Gear story which shows the path characters have in story mode and post all the dialoge of it on it. Basically something like that. Oh, and I already know they release the game out in the US I just don't wanna buy the same game for the same console just to look at story mode (even though the game features Kliff and Justice in it)
Soothesayer Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Got a question regarding Ky's name. Is it pronounced Keese-kay, kiss-kay or simply Kisk? I know overture uses the last one for the English dubbing, but I was always under the assumption it was the first or second one.
Raging Tofu Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Short answer: saying it as "keesk" or "kees-kay" are acceptable, though the former is the correct version. Overture's pronunciation of it as "kissk" is just wrong. Long answer: Based on the characters used to write his name: ã‚スク (kisuku) this gives it the pronunciation of it "keesk", since in spoken Japanese ス (su) is more of a hissed "s" sound and ク (ku), when used at the end of a word, implies a hard ending sound. Technically, the "ku" sound is still there, but the inflection isn't as strong. To hear this pronunciation, just watch the X promo trailer (it's at the 2:44 mark, the person who uploaded that even notes the pronunciation XD). The fact that the English spelling of his name ends in an "e" (since it's taken from former Helloween member Micheal Kiske) has lead to the "kees-kay" pronunciation, and most people aren't bothered by this. (In katakana though, this would be written ã‚スケ-kisuke.) However, as Micheal is German, the pronunciation would be something like "keys-ka" since an "e" in German sounds like a soft "a" (a soft "a" having more of an "uh" sound than "ah" sound) Regardless, ã‚スク/"keesk" mimics this pretty well. As for Overture's way of saying it as "kissk"... I just write it off as a misinterpretation of understanding vowel lengths (long vs. short/stressed vs. unstressed) It's like pronouncing "heel" and "hill" the same way. The words sound similar, but their pronunciation is actually different.
Zazz Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 and here's Aksys' official word on it: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=308529&postcount=750
Blade Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 @Big K...you're too Lazy so buy the friggan game already. :P @Zazz/Tofu: Yeah yeah...you're right...but my last name is Polish-German and spelled similarly, even though there are two ways to pronounce it, which is generally accepted is up to the person themselves. As to why a Frenchman like Ky has a Germanic last name....someone wasn't thinking too hard on that I think. O.o If Ky was French-German-American then it'd be Kiskay...if he was just German, it'd be Kische (Kishkah or Kischk), if he was pure-blooded French it'd be Kisquois (Kauskai). Yeah I'm a nerd.
Soothesayer Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks you guys for clearing that up. @Blade: nothing wrong with that :]
Big K Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Don't blame me for being lazy, blame my stores for not have a copy of it in the first place

Blade Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 Kinjuu is the Japanese name for "Forbidden Beast". It is thus far only found as an Anti-Gear derivative weapon implanted inside Zato-1. He made a contract with the 6th Forbidden Magick, "Eddie" a Shadow Organism in exchange for his eyesight. This was an expermental Magick developed by the Post-War Administration Bureau (PWAB). Meanwhile Millia Rage contracted with the 7th Forbidden Magick, "Angra" and she's now able to control her hair with tensile strength and fluid dexterity. It isn't known what she sacrificed to gain her power, though it's speculated its her chastity/ability to bear children. Kinjuu is just the generic term we use for living Forbidden Magick beasts or powers. Particularly the ones that take over their human host body. It isn't certain how many Forbidden Magicks there are or what all they do.

Blade Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 Soshiki is Japanese for "The Organization", it's the de facto title of the Assassin's Guild or just "The Guild".
Soothesayer Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Stalker? I'm guessing he wasn't a game character?
