You should find really good Arakunes and then fight them. Alot :D The 6A combo is nice and all, but it's weak and boring compared to dive combos + 6C loops. Learn them. Breath them. 5k damage from everything!! D=<

Thanks! I took a look at the combo topic and I learned one of the C combo loops and I tried ranked mode for the first time and got to Level 12. I had a level 31 arakune who was crazy with the dives. He had alot of mix ups. I'll try to learn this stuff and get better with the execution and timing. The C loops are much more damaging you are right. Any more tips?

Note: BlueGarbage is #2 only in rank. ^o^ Your combo execution could use some work. As well as bug control. :D

blue garbage is the only arakune i know that can utilize 3C effectively and piss you off in the process. good vids.

In the BlueGarbage video, you probably shouldn't have barrier bursted after he threw you in the final round. Even if he pulled off 236236C like he should have, you wouldn't have been able to burst out of it.

It seems the number 2 Arakune shares the same issues I have. He made some great comebacks though, as for you, I don't know, it's hard to comment on mirror matches. I'll watch your other one later.

Im getting a PVR HD recorder for my TV soon, so I should be able to record some matches of mine. I can't upload online matches because, well, I flat out suck online :v: Still, expect to see some nice HD matches within the next week or so.

Nice, I look forward to seeing your videos. I wish I could record matches of myself, but I don't have the technology required either. Maybe then Skye-kun would accept matches from me. :vbang:

Off-topic: Love the JoJo's avatar--did you ever play the PSX game? Lovely.

Okay, quick update: got the recorder working, now im editing to make a "sample" video to show the quality (which is quite good IMO) of a few simple arakune combos. Need to find a good video editor then I should be set! ...any advice on some good, free video editors? Random note: yeah, I played JJBA on the dreamcast...sadly, the PSX version was only okay: they took out a LOT of the combos and links for the entire cast in it. was still playable though. and thanks for the compliment on my avie, I take pride in it.

Sorry, but I detest Arakune dittos to the highest degree. Seriously my personal worst match up.

But I've manned up recently since a tourney where I lost to an Arakune....

If I see you again, there is a 50/50 chance I'll accept the fight, better than 100% that I won't.

Really? I actually like arakune dittos, it gives me a chance to see where my characters own weakness lies in. It'd be even better if u could somehow implement ur own fighting patterns into the system and have a bout with urself to see how vulnerable u r. Well Skye, at least u know why ppl hate on arakune since it's ur absolute worst matchup rite?

I constantly reiterate how much I hate fighting my own character to people who also hate fighting him.

Oh, yeah WMM doesn't do mp4, if you can, try anything else, I know it responds to avis, I used to use it until I got pinnacle studio.

gotcha. downloading AVS now, should work. EDIT:....nevermind, video editing and trying to get said videos up on youtube is giving me a headache, ill have to try again later :psyduck: finally found the right software, but editing is trickier then I thought. or, even better, when my friend comes to play a few matches, ill just record them and throw em up on youtube. wish me luck. (though It might be a few more days before I get another chance to play someone in person...)

Editing is fun once you get the hang of it.

For example, my latest video.

Commentary:

Overall view

My training as of now, is turtling after point leads and my everlasting quest for hit detect skills.

Enjoy.

I know, I fucked up the recurse, hard, what was going through my head at the moment, I don't know, at least I wasn't punished that hard for it.

1:03

I tried to get a loop in from a dive, by my hit detect skills are still shoddy. The A bug set it all up too, but I thought it was gonna whiff.

1:05

I'm an idiot, I know...

1:21-1:24

Where's MC Hammer when you need him?

1:42

I fucked up that loop setup too, I know, I'm too used to doing j6C, I'm breaking the habit.

1:48

I'm ashamed of myself, but that was raw instinct to do that tick grab, I wanted for a fake out, then my mind went blank. I assure you, I almost never do lag tactics, because I do well to adapt my online play into offline, so I only stick to stuff that only works offline.

2:07

Should I do 5C more in this fight?

2:40

I intended to block that, but online said "no".

2:46

I used the bell to keep him from bum-rushing me while I attempted a cloud, was that a good idea, or would that have bit me in the ass against a better opponent?

3:04

Refer to 2:40

3:16

I'm still practicing this setup, but noobish muscle memory overtook mindset, so I screwed it up.

4:10

Don't you love when they mash mindlessly? I do.

Skye, ur ara looks much much much better than the other vids u posted before. I see a lot of setups and tricks in this vid. One thing that i do believe that every ara should learn though is to negative edge or buffer bugs from a barrier. For example, at 0:54, u had litchi cursed, but really didn't want to throw out 2d bug or 5c as they're pretty laggy moves. What i would suggest since she's cursed is to barrier back with ab (hold them) and press the other two buttons dc (also hold them) a milli sec apart, after this, u should wait for ur opponent to move. If they're on the floor and slightly move, release c bug and the other bugs a milli sec later. What this does is that the c bug usually will stun them giving time for ur b bug to pick them up, and finally ur d bug will swoop down to do multihits on them. The a bug is used as insurance in case they jump. The great part about doing this is that u don't need to put urself in any danger of beating out moves once they are cursed. Now, some ppl will spam 2d along with all the other buttons, but there are holes in bug spamming since they can iad towards u and punish. This can be used at a concentrated point. If u see them far away, negative edge barrier back and aim at them with 3 and release. If they catch onto u concentrating them at far distances and run up, since sometimes the bugs will be slower to come out than their dash, then change the direction to 2 or 1. Once an opponent is cursed, they should never be moving. In some of fumo's vids that u posted, u can see him doing the same negative edge barrier back against tagers and hakus to break their guard. U can do the same thing to most characters if u find them dashing towards u or jumping while they are cursed. The multihits will deter them from trying to move much. I'm saying this because most good aras will not be bugs spamming with 2d, but will be trying to find ways to beat out moves and such while opponents are cursed and moving. Most opponents will not be able to read that ur actually summoning bugs since ur just barriering. This is espicially good against ppl who block and wait for ur curse to run out and try to find openings. Many ppl are used to 2d bug spam, and if ur not spamming, will rush towards u or start moving, use their millisecond of foolishness to remind them that they are cursed with c bug into bd bug. There aren't enough vids of fumo doing this to prove how useful it is to barrrier back negative edge. It takes some time to get it down, and u'll probably have a few matches where u will accidentally burst instead of negative edging, but learning this is so useful against ppl who wait and block from far away.

The reason I'm telling u this is because Litchi has great air to air options that are really really hard to beat out, and flying towards her while cursed with 6 a/b/c will sometimes get u killed. Which is why u should be baiting her to do something by waiting a little until she moves.

I know all about Litchi's CH JB, I indeed kept an eye out for it, thanks for the feedback.

no, because u barrier first, then press the other 2 buttons, it doesn't register as a burst. It only registers if u do it too fast.

that litchi wasn't very good, had like no corner pressure and threw out a lot of stuff at random, also ran face first into clouds/other cursy stuff basically at every opportunity. The biggest thing I can say is capitalize, you hit her with a lot of stuff that could have netted you lots of damage(i'm not talking entirely about whiffed combo's there's stuff where you just don't go for anything off a hit). You also don't seem to have a plan of attack, once you get her cursed(which basically only happened because she was running face first into stuff) you seem to just do moves randomly and hope the move or the bug hits em. Several times you jump air dash downwards with j.b when she is no where near you, or even way above you, or jump forward and 6a/b/c way above her head and then do a dive way over her to the other side, or just start teleporting randomly. Basically it seems like you are just doing stuff and praying she runs face first in to bugs(to be fair the litchi DOES run face first into a bunch of bugs but that's still not a good strategy). Additionally you positioned yourself in such a way that when she DID kill herself on bugs you couldn't capitalize off of it. That litchi's pressure was really bad which means you don't even have to instant block or really do anything at all if she's cursed and your blocking to release C and get a free counter hit C bug. C bug in the middle of other peoples pressure is AMAZINGLY good. The bell was... gutsy i'll give it that. Bell is very punishable from most ranges, but she was pretty far away. If you had someone really on the ball they would've been able to get you for that, but even against good players they may have missed that opportunity because of the range(although litchi's normals are REALLY long). Litchi is one of the people you can use 5C against a little bit more effectively, but it's still pretty dangerous, she can still safe jump her normals, and I think she can stop her air momentum and throw her staff diagonally down at you to punish our horrifically slow anti air. it's tough to say, arakune's 5C is such garbage, but it's so good if it actually lands. Learn dive cancels, unless that was a tournament match every single one of those dive attacks should be an attempted dive cancel. Yes, I know they are hard, but really I got em to about 90-100% accuracy in training mode(including varying the height I hit them at) in 2 training session each less than an hour(I still am only about 30ish% in real match for getting a 5.b dice cancel but a lot of my misses still give me a 2B dive cancel). Dive cancels are ridiculously important, you could have gotten a ton more damage/better pressure with it. you teleport way too much, it's fine occasionally, but you teleport a lot and the only reason you likely get away with it is online+scrubby opponent.
