Lil Majin Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Yo I be calling you guys out. You're gonna be in Memphis, right?
Jackie Chandler Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Anyone else live in Cookeville, Tennessee? Thread search says no, but I'd love for someone to speak up if otherwise. ;P
Lil Majin Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Part I: INTRODUCTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attention Memphis Tekken Players! The Tekken scene here has been at an all-time low whether it be because of ShinBlade beating most of the former players into their households to play FPS/etc, Super Street Fighter 4, failure, or other reasons. Many argue that unlike the Street Fighter 4 scene here, the Tekken 6 scene has no "structure," meaning that there is no guaranteed gathering for the game every week; players usually play at someone's house which only can allow so many players AND is completely dependant on the host, making gatherings for the game unreliable as opposed to Power Play or Hasting's Fight Nights. Thanks to Hasting's and Severin-X, there is now a guaranteed Tekken 6 setup present every Wednesday night from 7pm to 10pm; however, the scene needs more than just that to improve... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part II: PROPOSAL ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nevertheless, I thought of a way to get the Tekken scene back up and running here in Memphis and made a couple of calls to players such as ShinBlade, Bishop, FlyMike, Professor Gene, KOS, ANOTSU, and He's Back -TiLT-; they all highly favored the idea. What is this "idea" that I'm speaking of you ask? It is the idea, originally thought up by Azure Phoenix and Bishop back in 2007 for the Guilty Gear X2: Accent Core scene, which made the number of the game's players here jump from a mere 6 to a whopping 34!!! Not only did this idea increase the number of overall players, but also, the number of great players we possessed. Furthermore, the idea resulted in the Tennessee Thread on Dustloop becoming a hotspot for hype as well as interesting drama. Without further adieu, the idea that I'm proposing to you, the Memphis Tekken players, is the reforming of the late, great GGAC's "Team ESPADA" for TEKKEN 6!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part III: TEAM ESPADA'S AMAZING HISTORY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For GGAC, Team Espada started off with only 5 members: myself, Big Majin, Bishop, ShinBlade, and Azure Phoenix. Of course those names are of powerful players of the game; however, when the team started, EVERYONE save for my brother and me completely sucked at the game. Nevertheless, the eagerness of others to join the group and gain a rank greatly expanded Memphis' GGAC community. It wasn't long before most of us were able to compete with and defeat top players in the game. For example, Bishop, the best Slayer/Venom player in the country, OCVed FlashMetroid, Marn, and Latiff at SER-2, beat raekw0n187, the best Potemkin player in the country in two tournaments, beat Marn, and even eliminated me out of SER-3 as well. In addition, ShinBlade beat Doren2k (2nd best Jam player in the country) and raekw0n187 consecutively in the same tourney and was branded the title of "RandomBlade" because of his unique and reckless style of play with Sol Badguy. General was able to beat Jan, the 2nd best Potemkin player in the country, most of STL's finest players at S.L.U.T.S, and be the best Testament player in the country himself. Azure Phoenix was able to beat Jamarvelous, an old school top player, at Final Round 2009. As for me, I was the understood best Chipp player in the nation and I beat players such as AKA (best Millia player in the country), raekw0n187 (best Potemkin in U.S.), Zinac and Senkei (two best Faust players in the country), Moroha and Josh Ballard (two best A.B.A. players in the country), Pwnz0r and Klaige (two of the 3 best Anji players in the U.S.), DavidCue (one of the 4 best Eddie players in the country), FrankdaTank and Kyle (two best May players in the country), Jais (best Bridget player in the country), Rudy (best Zappa player in the country), the other Espada members, and many others. As you can see, there was a LOT of success for Team Espada. At first, we were just a group of "trash talking scrubs" but were later recognized and respected as some of the best GGAC players in the country. The same can be done with Tekken 6. Forming the Espada will guarantee an increase in skill and experience with a lot of match-ups! With MLG Dallas being our next big tourney, we need to be fully prepared to BEAST and being active Espada members will guarantee better outcomes in the tourney. Let's do it! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part IV: STRUCTURE/CLOSE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the Tekken Espada group, it shall be quite similar to the GGAC's Espada group. We're aiming to have 10 players and have them ranked from numbers 1 to 10. Of course, we will maintain the old FT10 ranking matches if you want to challenge an Espada one rank higher (if you lose, then you can't challenge them for it anymore that day). Since Tekken is at Hasting's every week now, we will try and get Team Espada jump started there. I have to make a trip there and negotiate with the owners to allow a Tekken gathering earlier on Saturdays or Sundays (if they're open Sundays). Espada member numbers will be determined via a round robin which will be scheduled soon! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've already gotten the "okay" from ShinBlade, Gene, Clark, Tommy, and Bishop about Team Espada for Tekken. What do YOU think about it?
DEITY SOVEREIGN Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Hey, guys. After about nearly half a year I've finally have the chance to post. My apologies about being inactive on the forums for so long, but I had some personal issues to deal with. I had hoped to game with you guys soon but, that may not be the case. Over the course of time Xploit Neo has been feeling under the weather so I stood home with him to make sure he was okay. To make a long story short i had to take him to the hospital over the weekend after which I just found out that he has anemia. Right now I'm watching over him at home until I get the results from the tests he undertook while he was admitted. The Espada idea sounds nice I don't know if I'll be able to participate. Due to issues and my brother's condition I haven't played anything competitively and little casually. Hopefully once these issues are resolved both Neo and myself will be back on the scene with full commitment. Neo says he misses you guys and wants to play you soon. I don't know how these events will turn out but, if God be willing, we WILL return. I wish you guys the best. Sovereign

Where: 6901 Stone Ridge, Apt. #150 When: Saturday, July 24th starting at 2PM! VENUE FEE: $5 ENTRY FEE: $5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~We will run this tournament in a Round Robin format, meaning everyone will play against everyone in a 2/3 match set with 3/5 rounds. This will guarantee you your "money's worth" seeing that you have to opportunity to lose to everyone in attendence in a 2/3 set. A measely $5 Entry Fee isn't so bad when you think of it like that. ~Since it is a "pot" based $5 entry tourney, the pay-out will be split in the standard 70/20/10 fashion to the newly "top 3" Team Espada members. The top 10 placers in the tourney will be considered Team Espada members 1-10 while the lower placers will be thanked for their time and prompted to do better next time. However, the 11th placer will have the ability to challenge the #10 Espada for his or her rank in a FT10 to enter the Team. All ties between the top 10 placers will be broken for accuracy!!! ~This is a "Bring.Your.Own.Controller" event, so there won't be ANY excuses execution-wise for losing and others won't have to worry about you messing up their controller. ~There will be an AT THE DOOR $5 Venue Fee! Thus, you have until next Saturday to get 5 little dollars and pay the host. *Those who bring a FULL SETUP, meaning a PS3+TV+Tekken 6, will be waived of their venue fee for being helpful.* IF YOU DON'T BRING A SETUP, THEN DO NOT TRY AND STEP FOOT IN HIS HOUSE UNTIL AFTER YOU'VE PAID HIM YOUR $5 VENUE FEE!!! -This is gonna be a long tourney, so GREAT air-conditioning and refreshments will be provided. TRAIN UP and let's go! There you have it.......let's go!!!
FlyMike Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Torrence, sorry to hear about your bro's condition. It can be treated and maintained though, and both of you will be back to gaming in no time. Hope he gets better soon.
Astaroth136 Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I just popped in to see if you Tennessee Tekken fanatics still existed. Turns out, you still do. Hopefully, Middle Tennessee will see a little more action with the upcoming BlazBlue sequel. Yeah, yeah, I know. "BB sux, Tekken rulez." P.S. Lil Majin, you better at least play a little BB:CS so we can run back what we started at the last big gathering. I won't bitch out and counterpick like last time...
SmokeMaxX Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Hey guys, central Arkansas is hosting our second ARK (Arkansas Regional Knockouts) tournament which includes games such as BB:CS, T6, SSF4, Melee, and Brawl as well as games that people vote in (which may include HDR, TvC, SC4, GGAC, or even Melty Blood). Our last tournament had over 70 players from five different states (including Tennessee!) with total pot money being over $1000. We'd definitely like to grow on that and make our tournament bigger and better than last time! In fact, FlyMike and Lil Majin showed up (among others) and took home a lot of our fight money IIRC. If you're interested in going, please let me know by posting here or on the official thread at http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9291-A.R.K.-II-Arkansas-Regional-Knockouts-II!-Conway-AR-7-31-10-BB-SSF4-T6-More!&p=683865#post683865 Thank you guys so much for your support!
kenmastersX Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 lol, sorry to bombard your thread about our tournament but our New Orleans regional Battle for the South is coming up in less than 3 weeks! Please come if you can, we're trying to make this even huger for the next year!

DaRabidDuckie Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 *yawns* Lawdy... I haven't posted in here in a good minute. Yay for BB:CS coming out tomorrow! If anyone in Memphis is coming out to Fight Night on Weds I'll have a setup going for it.
SmokeMaxX Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Last call for our ARK II tournament being held in Conway, AR on July 31st. We already have 5-10 TN players coming in for Street Fighter and Tekken and we'd love to have more come in for BlazBlue or anything else. If you're interested, the official thread is here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9291-A.R.K.-II-Arkansas-Regional-Knockouts-II!-Conway-AR-7-31-10-BB-SSF4-T6-More! We hope to see you there!
krazykorean456 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Wow... it's definitely been a while since I last popped in here :P This thread is kind of dead... I got myself CS. Anyone that wants to get some games in within the Murfreesboro/Mid TN area, let me know. I also have a buddy who's a really good sparring partner that would like games in as well. I'll also have my live account up and running within the next few days. Like Astaroth said, I kind of want to see this thread bumpin again just like the good old days now since CS is out. I shall go back to the lab now and learn the DOO DOO LOOP :8/:

krazykorean456 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hope you like getting 6c'ed into taunt loop >=3 LOL, whatcha been up to these days? i haven't seen you in forever like always
Astaroth136 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Honestly, I hate getting 6c'ed into taunt loops... I haven't been up to anything except trying to stay cool. This heat wave is killer. Hopefully, before too long, we can get some people together for some CS. What have you been doing?
krazykorean456 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Honestly, brother... I hate being in them, and practicing them Timing on them doo doo loops are strict and vary from each character... I'm doing the same too :P Staying away from this terrible heat, playing SSFIV, and getting ready for school. I should still be on top of fighting games since I got my own 360 and live account. I'm hoping CS will attract some people over. A lot of people on SRK say they want to play, but dunno how like all Arc System games :P I dunno what else to go over with them besides the basics of the game and their... It's hard to keep them in this scene honestly :P Two completely different worlds if you ask me. I missed chaining into combos though >___<;; fuck links for now lol
ZéroGén Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Whatz up Home.................dame i miss u guys...should be home for the holidayz...
krazykorean456 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Glad to know you're still kickin it, General :D :D :D I sure do miss you and the crazy matches we have... (no homo) GGs to Astaroth. UTTER. ASS RAPE. You've gotten 100x better than the last time I played you >___< The way you 720'ed me out of thin air and RC supers made me SHIT myself (pics to come soon). I learned a lot and had a big wakeup call. I'm definitely gonna hop on this game as much as I can. Hope to play you real soon in the near future. I'll be bugging you for Tager matchup exp
Astaroth136 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Haha, definitely GGs Phil. Your Tao is still as aggressive as ever. Some of those crossups (and fake crossups) really confused me. And the corner pressure... oh the corner pressure. Luckily, I've read info and seen videos on how to handle some of Tao's craziness. We'll definitely be playing more often.
Alphakami Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I got the chance to check out BBCS the last couple of days vs. long sets with a rather nasty Tager played by Fraley. New Noel is like AC Ky. Shitty, but even more fun to play, so yes, I will be glad to gimmick the fuck out of CS given the chance.

Thanks :D I've still got a lot to work on w/ the new Tao metagame which is find every single way to taunt loop the FUCK out of everyone >__< From all the vids that I've seen on Tao vs Tager, none of the Taos play the way I do :P I guess they don't like the high risk vs high reward shit like I do. They just sit back and way for a chance to 6C, which is probably what I'll have to do :P Also, you in the corner is like punching a brick wall! You're defense is really amazing. Good shit again :D Tad: We should throw down soon :D I need to wet my whistle as much as possible in this game again. I've moved to a new place so if you're ever in town and I'm available, let me know

It's lovely.

Yeah, I read on SRK that some Memphis peeps are gettin in on the game as well. I know Bishop plays a mean game of it though. It seems like most Memphis peeps want to play but don't know how :P If you guys need help and Bishop is not around, gimme a holler on here, SRK, or live and I'll be more then willing to help :D
