EnvyHax Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I'm glad Carl got that far...but I was bummed when Dora was knocked out T_T
Kurushii Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Still looking correct for what all top 4 will be . We got the throw loop bitch, range ho x2, and bugs-a-matic
Deox Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 and like I been telling people for a while, well not here but around. Arakune and Carl are by far the best two characters in the game they got so much in their favor once mastered. Although I still say a mastered bang is in 3rd place.
alucard19 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Yeah,we need that patch. Good to see Dora did so well.
BANGER Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 What's all this hubbub about this patch anyway? Is there an official statement someone can link me to?
Kurumster Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 and like I been telling people for a while, well not here but around. Arakune and Carl are by far the best two characters in the game they got so much in their favor once mastered. Although I still say a mastered bang is in 3rd place. lol.... do you not see what the top 16 looks like? That's a better representation of what the state of this game is. Anyway. Sucks that Arakune won. I was pulling for Rachel, but oh well.
ryokoalways Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I was thinking that Dora would have been fine as long he didn't have to face fumo or kyaku. Too bad I guess. And I was really surprised by two things: 1. 0 beat Shonan. I thought 0 was boned, but I was wrong. Although I seriously doubt shonan cares because he won GGAC. 2. And no Jin made it past the second round. 5 fell in the first, last 2 in the second, both to nu. And I share the main sentiment here: It could have been worse.
Ulevo Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Why is it everyone is mentioning the need for a patch simply by these results? Only two v-13 made it to top 8, and neither of them touched the finals. I thought that is what everyone would be watching for.
zaeris Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Real sad that Dora was kicked out by a Nu. Lol, did you not notice Dora took out two Nu before losing to a third.... which doesn't say much as so people believed just that he lost to a single Nu ^^
Atiba Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I wanted really big surprising results like sbo sf4.

Again, the Top 16 is more telling of the tiers than anything else because you actually still have a decent sample size.

Patch is needed not just for Nu, but for Arakune as well(and for anything else that is too dumb).
lxMetalSonicxl Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I was hoping that a Jin would show a little thing or two about Miami but I guess I was wrong....
dragontamer Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 If anyone is curious, I threw the characters into an Elo-based list. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showpost.php?p=433641&postcount=57 This isn't really a "tier list", and most of the numbers are heavily based on the arcadia matchup list (I figured that tier list would be a good place to start). After that, I factored in the match-by-match results into Elo and ended up with the following Elo rankings for the characters. Rachel 1260 Nu-13 1227 Arakune 1206 Carl 1195 Litchi 1075 Jin 1061 Taokaka 1016 Noel 1009 Ragna 945 Hakumen 887 Bang 854 Tager 519 Note: Tager, Noel, Ragna, etc. etc. are very inaccurate. These characters had less than 5 matches, so don't put much faith into their numbers. Hell, the numbers are completely based off of only two sources: Arcadia's tier list, and the SBO Tournament Results. This list is inaccurate as hell, but it will get better if more tournaments are factored into it. So, if there are other tournament results you'd like me to integrate into this ranking, I'll be happy to do so. On the other hand, Nu, Rachel, and Arakune had many matches in SBO. So... I think we can actually rely on their ranking. ---------- EDIT: Just so that we are clear, I bring this list forward as a Work in Progress. It is insane to make any sort of conclusion from only a survey and a single tournament.
bucklemyshoe Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 results are eh whatever. kind of bummed with BB SBO. haha, I'm more hyped to watch the SF4 event than this.
Climhazzardous Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 and like I been telling people for a while, well not here but around. Arakune and Carl are by far the best two characters in the game they got so much in their favor once mastered. Although I still say a mastered bang is in 3rd place. No, Carl is not better than Nu or Rachel...just because a Carl made it into the finals, it doesn't change things like that. This mentality is old and tired, "Oh look this character won and got far he/she must be top tier!" Not happy that Arakune won SBO but I knew it was gonna happen so whatever. Don't think I even wanna watch these BB matches since I can already play out in my head how it went down, not like we were gonna see anything new or interesting...just the same old stuff.
AGentlerHatred Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Good lord, Tager would have had to win for some of you people to not bitch. FFS, almost half of the top 8 was comprised of characters considered low-tier. I'm also impressed that Fumo managed to beat Ribaia and go on to win, considering Nu is generally considered a bad match-up for Arakune.
Elstraim Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I'm not surprised (nor impressed) that Arakune won the tourney, but that's infinitely better than Nu winning. I can't even imagine the flak BB would get from the rest of the fighting game community if that happened. All-in-all, I'm proud that Dora got that far. Makes me feel even more motivated to become as good as him one day. lol
ShinobiBrown Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Well, at least a Nu didn't win the whole thing. That's the most positive thing I can really say at this point...:8/:
Lastblade Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Was rooting for Rachel all along but I was fine with how it turned out I suppose.
