YuYu Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Arr, I can't find how to play the video's on that Japanese niconico sight. You can either make an account with this tutorial http://asiajin.com/blog/2008/09/14/english-guide-for-nico-nico-douga-part-1-how-to-register/ or you can use the redirector http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html

RinHara5aki Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I forget to bring my phone to record my matches. :/ Nuuhhhhh dont use a phone Grab a flip mino like I used to do, any camera would work! You gotta have at least a cameraaaa XD Who's up there that plays with you? Doesn't Ricky or Ginseng have a cam or something? And Phathon should have that direct arcade capture doesn't he?
XDest Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHkKtVOAkk4 Me playing CS. No taunt loops yet, but I've been really working on them the last few times at the arcade. Drive Cancels and Bowling Balls everywhere! Also poor confirming and a weird bad habit of j.4D that pays off for some reason (most of the time). Learning stick is a long, long process it seems.

I saw you continue a combo AFTER a 236bbbbb~ wallbounce. It looked like a quick j.aaa.. That wad cool. You gotta experiment with that more. Jesus 3c -> 5d~b (Whiff) -> 5b -> 5c -> 2d~9 -> j.c -> j.c -> j.c -> 236bbbbb~ galore XD Thats definitely your sig combo :P. Nice job with the CH drive cancels and crawl > spark bolt lol.
yukichi Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Apparenrly PSN decided to behave last night and was getting me a chance to play a lot of low latency games. Invited my local Noel friend for some player matches and saved one replay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAdwTALcg3E So, I dunno, seems like blocking 2D gives a free 3C chance if they continue their drive combos, but I'm not sure how legit it is against Noels that do things than just spamming 2D all day.
RinHara5aki Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 If anyone even PLAYS this game still... lol... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2SmKwAq8xc

Armus Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 If I can offer some critique? Scrubby Tagers will ALWAYS try j.2C. You should bait this and punish with a well-time 6C. 4.5K will make them think twice about ever j.2C again. Once they're scared to do that, the only time most Tagers will jump is to buffer their 720. Just bait and punish. Another thing to take note of is 214214C. It's bad. You should save your meter for more worthwhile things like Hexa-Edge or Dead Angles. Hexa Edge is a decent reversal, though if you use it too often, your opponent will try to bait it. Dead Angle is Tao's only real safe way out of pressure, so make sure you conserve meter for it! I'm not claiming to be the best Tao ever, of course, but these are just some things I think could help you out. Tager-specifically and in general.
PlasticChicken Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 EDIT: Sorry wrong thread, this was the CT one.
XDest Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2p6bibm890 - Try not to use as many B cancels except for 2D~B, it's really easy to punish in CT (you're lucky in that respect that he didn't punish them). - Also watch for random j.2Cs, Tagers love that move. If they're in the air, they usually go for it. - If they're in superjump height, just 2D them (trying to time a 6C will usually still get you j.2C'd, but will beat everything else up there). - In lots of situations including wakeup, just j.A or 2D~B j.A Tager, and some jump cancels during blockstrings. They can't do anything about it really (other than Magna Tech Wheel). - Try to max out your damage on Tager by using things like Drive Loop -> j.D~C -> j.D~A -> 9D~9 -> j.C -> 9D~9 -> j.236BB -> j.236BBBB to get over 4k damage off your BnBs (also works with Arakune). - Shy away from pink grabs, although you obviously knew the opponent would fall for it in this fight and wasn't making an effort to break them, so I guess it's fine. Just don't make it a habit. - Try to get him to throw away spark bolts so you don't get into the situation of it beating out a random jump. That'll do it, you're getting much better. Just keep things like this in mind. You pretty much just lost to elbow drops and supers. j.A/jump cancels as well as true blockstrings should get rid of non tech-trap/IB 720s/360s. For Magna Tech Wheel, don't drive at him without using C cancels when he has 50 heat, or use other methods of movement so you can try to block it.

As you said, I took Armus's advice about the 6c, but it just doesn't work. Most tager's SJ in the 9 direction so usually instead of high reward, Tager gets a j.2c counter hit in his favor... I will go for more 2d's. Plus 2d~5 (CH) -> j.5d~6 -> j.c etc is a good trade off. As for B~cancels, I do a fair share of them (Of course high risk, high reward), but online I do it more often BECAUSE of the lag. Even with a good connection, some player's can't react to crossups very well, and then it goes in my advantage. As for the pink throws... uhh.... yeah... XD;;;; Trashing spark bolts I usually bait at a distance and just 3 :P.. it worked at the end, but obviously he just new I was gonna close in after that. I wish I had fast enough reflex's to a~cancel my drive... I know TaoFTW does 2d~b -> j.a a fair amount during wakeups. I should get in that habit too. Reduces chances of stupid 360 grabs as well :/ ....I hate Magna Tech Wheel ... also, don't even mention my poor 214214c execution, I know. :vbang:
XDest Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 A cancels are even more trashy than B cancels in CT, ugh... At least B cancels crossup and have the chance to be far from the opponent on block (but they're still 100% unsafe). Also, B cancels are disadv on hit in CT. It's not even rewarding unless you get a CH with the drive, or the opponent plainly doesn't block afterward. 2D~B is always fine since it's probably the safest crossup she has, unless it becomes predictable. A cancels are also unsafe and leave you right next to the opponent. Though both are pretty awesome in CS. In the situations you were thinking of A canceling, possibly sneak in an RC 2A. Catches a ton of people off-guard and is really safe obviously. Plus if the opponent isn't doing much pressure, you've got a lot of extra meter to work with usually. If you need to stop in your tracks midway through a drive, use a C cancel, it's really safe. I'm giving you the j.A suggestion because most Tagers wakeup into either a 360 or a backdash (even if that one wasn't). j.A (or 2D~B j.A) into a blockstring on the ground will get rid of that fairly easily. You were doing 2As and grabs, both would get 360'd.
lurch_E_bean Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I put up a playlist of some matches from a month ago: http://www.youtube.com/user/lurchEbean#p/c/9564F6AB1DC35CA1/0/yNhxF5YeFBk I hadn't played in over 3 months, so yeah, it's not great, lots of dumb mistakes. I got a few good games in, though. My goal was to land my first double taunt combo online, and I pulled it off... somewhat (in the first two Tager matches, lousy black beats...). Also, while I'm posting, thanks to Rin and anyone else who posted comments on my videos with feedback. Sorry I haven't been playing enough to incorporate that stuff in my game.

Hsien_Jo Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Hey Guys I haven't been around for a while, I've been hiding in the shadows >,>, sneaky. But anyways, I just finished this Taokaka Combo Movie Trilogy called "Super Ultra Taokaka Deluxe." for Calamity Trigger. I wanted to sum everything up before I hit the new game. It basically has every single combo I have ever made up with Tao. I put a good month and change of work on it so when u guys have time go check them. Super Ultra Taokaka Deluxe is broken into 3 videos: Part 1: "Meatbuns and Butter": Mostly BnBs with varioius start ups, I end the video with a few airthrow combos and set ups. Part 2: "Shenanigans": Throw combos, situational/anti-air combos, counter hit combos Part 3: "9 Lives Claw works": Combos that require 50% and 100% Meter including Rapid cancel, Hexaedge, Grab Super, and Dopplegang super combos Links Part 1: "Meatbuns and Butter" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHnvcsQ3Ua8 Part 2: "Shenanigans" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1604WW02u5w Part 3: "9 Lives Claw Works" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afy6PT_2srU
Ronove Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Nice work! I really dig how you creatively tried to extend as much as possible her usual BnB's with ~a and ~c cancels. I also liked the second video (especially the end with grab tech shenanigans). Good stuff! Third vid is hilarious, the doppleganger combos are quality troll material, haha
Hsien_Jo Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks dude, I've been trying my damnest to think outside the box with Tao. Thanks for watching the video, I know it was lengthy, I'm not good at making short anything My favorite one was the 3rd one, with the 2nd one pulling in a a close second.
lurch_E_bean Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Part 1: "Meatbuns and Butter" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHnvcsQ3Ua8 Part 2: "Shenanigans" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1604WW02u5w Part 3: "9 Lives Claw Works" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afy6PT_2srU Jesus, Hsien_Jo, I thought I knew me some Tao combos, but apparently I don't know shit. Those were awesome. I had no idea there were so many ways to drop 5k+ damage on someone.

I had no idea there were so many ways to drop 5k+ damage on someone. Preciate the compliment I put alot of time into her, and I'm actually pretty nervous about putting things out there, but if theres anything I know how to do its how to make combos. The more hype I have in a character the better I do with them. And I got extreme hype for Tao, she has too many qualities that I love and resembles Hsien-ko a bit too much for me not to. Any tip I can give when practicing with a character is never be satisfied with what you learn or discover, keep trying to find better ways to do things.
Ronove Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 A lot of these combos are not exactly practical but they're still interesting and actually provide a lot of inspiration for good variety of situations. Like, I really liked the 6B combos on a jumping opponent. It often happens in a game when you're using her overhead and the opponent wants to escape from pressure by jumping, so knowing how to capitalize from that is always a good thing. Most of these setups should also transfer pretty well in CS, just change the combo (rather than going for double taunt combo use taunt loop instead) so it is definetely some really good shit. Props!

Lol, I usually don't shoot for practical when I make a video, I usually try to do the flashiest, most retarded things I can. One of the reasons why I put alot of my impractical combos in the video is, it gives me a chance to use them some type of way. Theres no way I can use ALL of that stuff in a match so I get it out of my system in a video lol. That way my hard work doesn't go to waste :x.
LunaKage Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V3XeWo8yXE Not sure how many people know about this, but I figured you guys, as Tao players would appreciate it. its not a match video, more of a lulz video. If this is old, forgive me lol
