Kamui Moon Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 there's no need for any rules in Slash since there's nothing that needs to be banned in the arcade version. just 2/3, double elim. I don't play stick, so I don't think I'll make the trip. good luck, though.
doragonkoroshi Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Is this just going to be run on the arcade cab or do you want the console version too?
xJakartax Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Will Slash be run on a machine with American or Japanese sticks? And will the buttons be reconfigured correctly? I think you said you need a new BIOS for the other machine to run it, so I curious.
Arcade Legacy Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 I got the new BIOS today, and it is installed. I played SLASH today so it is good to go. It will be American sticks, the Competition sticks that are currently in the arcade machine. The buttons will be configured correctly. It will just be on the arcade cab. There won't be any space for the console version as we will be running SFIV and SCIV on all available stations.
Arcade Legacy Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Due to lack of interest and in some cases disdain, GGXXS has been removed and ST put in its place. I will have a real deal money tournament for GGAC in December, along side BB and maybe some Melty Blood on the side.
The Blacktastic Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 You saying GGAC, BB, and Melty Blood. Just made my day. I'll definitely make the 3hr+ trip. :D
Effenhoog Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I will have a real deal money tournament for GGAC in December, along side BB and maybe some Melty Blood on the side. Sounds sweet, that's pretty much my dream lineup minus Arcana Heart.
Arcade Legacy Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 I forgot about AH. I'll add that as well. I felt like there was one more game the Dustloop crowd played but I couldn't think of it. MB and AH are both only on PS2 correct? Which version of those games is best for tournament? Would it even be worth getting MB on arcade for the tournament or would everyone prefer just play it on console? I know for sure I can't afford AH on arcade. I've tried to bid on it before and it usually goes way out of my price range. Anyone want to come up with a good name for the tournament? I don't know much lingo for the GG, BB, MB, AH games so post up some suggestions. Also, can someone give me the tournament rules for MB and AH please?
Effenhoog Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Since the AH2 PS2 port is garbage, I guess if you were going to run it you would just use Arcana Heart Full, unless people REALLY want to play AH2. I'm not sure how many people in the area even play Arcana Heart so it might not be worth doing, but then again, a tournament with just a few people takes little time/effort to run so leaving it in might not be a big deal anyway. Melty Blood Actress Again just came out on ps2, and it includes an "original" mode (the US community standard) which is not available on an arcade machine. Practically no one in the US has access to a cabinet anyway. Also, there are a few unlockable characters, I don't know how many people actually play as them but having access to save data for the game would probably be a good idea. Rules (edit: I checked the SRK threads for these games so these rules should be accurate. it's up to you if you want to make the finals best 3/5 or whatever): MBAA: Archetype Earth is banned. Best 2/3 rounds, best 2/3 matches. Loser may switch character and moon style, winner must keep their character but may change moon style. Original mode. Arcana Heart: Best 2/3 rounds, best 2/3 matches. Loser may switch character/arcana. Winner must keep their character but may change arcana. Vanilla AH characters are banned, AH Full only. No banned arcanas.
Arcade Legacy Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Not sure how many puzzle fans are in the Dustloop crowd, but I added Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo arcade to the lineup of tournament games. $2 entry. Winner Takes All
doragonkoroshi Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Needs Puyo Puyo. I'll probably try to enter Tekken or something. I was more excited when Guilty Gear was going to be a part of the tournament.
MacArthur Blunts Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Please can we get some CRT's up in here? I'll bring my crappy 1990's setup if need be. It will still be better than lag.
Arcade Legacy Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 We use the 3 or 4 CRT's and 2 lagless monitors plus the big screen for the tournaments so there should be no problems Mac.
Arcade Legacy Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 RESULTS are here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=215259 Strong showing for BB! Only one less than SFIV. Glad to see the community keeping the game alive until the next version surfaces
