just real quick is this the correct config for a stick?

and then R just sort of floats around, somewhere.

I put R inbetween my P and D, to insure that I never hit it.

The official stick has the R button off to the right such that you need to reach with your pinky in case you want to use it.

Well i got used to it and i find it easier to combo like that, since i have P and K on the left for starters and then i continue on the right for the rest of the combo. I got used to it after KOF where i hard the lights on the left and the hard ones on the right. The problem is, i got used this way so if confronted with another config, i'm toast :confused:

P should never be above K.

(I personally think P should have been above K, but that's not how the official layout goes)

Then next form would be the more obvious tech baiting when you will give them room to escape while there airborne and then you throw them.This is especially useful when you land an unexpected hit where you couldn't really follow up with much damage and instead just let them escape and then airthrow them.

A good example would be I-no on the offence in the corner,the opponent backlashes and I-no catches them with an attack where she couldn't follow up with much damage.

So instead she breaks the combo or "resets",land's from her hoverdash attack and anticipates her opponents tech and airthrow's them and combos for about 100+ dmg and a corner knockdown for 25% tension.

As you can see this is a hell of alot better than landing a few measly point's of dmg.

That was a while ago but heres a good example of what I was trying to explain.

At 1:13 I-no catches dizzy when she's backdashing with a jk js.Instead of following up with a few extra points,she knows where they will tech so she lands and lets them escape then throws them out of the tech following up with much better damage.

Also during this combo there is several great places to break the combo and do the same again.

I guess this is a stupid question, I wanted to know if there was a chart or something which contained the learning curves of each character. I play Tes. for the moment and im still very new to GG and at first I thought that Tes was a very advanced character to learn from seeing top players use him but then I here that he's actually pretty easy to learn. Anyway if no ones too busy or if there's already a chart about it could someone tell me the curves of each character. As a second character I want to either learn May,I-no, or Eddie.

May I know where I can find more information about footsie, zoning, poking, and all those stuff? Gamefaqs.com or whatever only has Character Guides...

If there aren't any, can anyone please tell me more about these stuff? Sorry for the trouble.

Also, can i get a list of changes from XX to #R for Ky? folks in my dorm lobby play XX a lot and i want to go down and beast them, but i want to know if most of my tactics and such with ky are the same for the first one.

Three things I can think of off the top of my head:

- Vapor Thrust has a bit more horizontal range, but HS VT is techable.

- 2HS doesn't suck in on counterhit

- Greed Saber has more range

IIRC:

+ Sacred Edge combos are easier to do(knocks up higher) and stronger (because all 2d's don't prorate)

+Greed Sever has better reach. Active time A LOT longer. You could get it to have frame advantages on wake-up.

+ Can Shin Akuma earlier(i think).

- HS VT has a longer active time, but techable (no VTL!)

- 2H doesn't vaccuum.

Overall #R Ky>XX Ky. You're gonna want to stock up tension on SE combos, 'cause that's where most of your damage is gonna come from.

Basically, the tier list tells you which characters are generally easier to play with... (Or harder).

And Testament is an easy character to use? I don't think so.

All these are written in my own very limited knowledge so don't blame me if I say anything wrong.

Anyway, I think Testament isn't that easy to use because to use him effectively you have to think a few steps ahead of your opponent to set the traps at the correct places. Or so that you can lead/lure your opponents to your setups.

Uhh...the tier list is a comparison of each character and if two players of the same skill play each other the higher tiered character has a better chance to winning...statistically.If learning curve gets factored into the tier list, thats news to me. Like in 3S,(my knowledge of GG is still limited so I can't use a good example) Q is low tier because he has very few things in his favor, and he has to parry like a bastard to stand a chance. On the other hand, Chun is a priority whore and 2 stocks of SA2 will make your opponent think twice and thats why shes how tier, she just has more in her favor. dunno if learning curve is part of that because, Yun is a difficult character to use well but so is Q or Hugo and they are still low. . Or atleast thats what I always thought. What I was looking for was something someone could put up like

Eddie Learning Curve-8.9

Zappa Learning Curve-7.7

something like that

Thanks Hmr.kS for putting that up though. From what i've heard, Tes. was one of the easier characters to learn, but I guess not. :china:

IMO, Eddie and I-No are hard. Especially I-No. I've heard that her combos are very character specific. As for Eddie, i find using his mini Eddie EFFECTIVELY not easy. Testament ain't that easy, true. Go for Potemkin instead. You can Pot Buster out of so many different moves and whoop! massive damage

A tier list basically tells us which characters are overall better and have higher chances of placing high in major tournaments. Learning curve is not a factor in this case. IMO, beginner characters are Sol, Ky and Chipp. It's a good choice to start learning the game by playing these characters first, though it's up to you to pick your first character and start playing.
