Mike Z Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I disagree with the fact that you "have to make a bit in return" - I don't charge when people come here to play, and we have pizza too. (Also FYI they lose $10K+ every year on Evo. They go above and beyond the call of duty to provide for the gaming community - so that just makes you look worse. Heh.) How about a MM for the venue fee? :^P Although providing food is a step above ActiveGamers...
Tronzilla666 Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 Yeah but your not running tournaments every week are you? This is not some tournament organization thing I am trying to run at all. Just a tournament that I want to run and if it is a success then I will do more. AG is dumb, so I will never be like them. I want people to have fun. I am not trying to rip people off at all. Winners will receive money after tournament too and not have to wait forever!
Dacidbro Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Mike Z.. has people at his house every week, IIRC. Lol. And he made us cookie pie dude. You're swimmin' upstream deep.
Tronzilla666 Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 yea but are those hangouts or what because this is a tournament I am running Dacidbro. It is not some hangout but I want this tournament to be fun. You have to realize I am thinking of the people in the community and trying to make it fair.
Dacidbro Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm saying don't knock Mikey. Lol. To make a hangout a tournament all you need is to collect money for the pot and add a bracket. :o I'm certainly exaggerating, but the basic point stands that the standard for tournaments is to do them for the community rather for the host. *shrug* What happens at your tournament is up to you, but at the end of the day it's nothing without the community behind it.
Mr. Camaro Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 this argument is stupid, and you should feel stupid
Mike Z Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 To make a hangout a tournament all you need is to collect money for the pot and add a bracket.QFT. I do feel stupid, but that's never stopped me before! :^P I severely disagree with Tron charging people money to drive to his own house, to play people they could play anywhere if only the could agree on when to go. Competition pays to come to him! The only thing Tron did was decide on a time and declare it. Heck, I'd host it with no venue fee, heh. OK, I'm done being dumb and I'll probably attend*, but you have to admit if you step back and think about it, a venue fee for someone's house pretty much just comes across as greedy. * pending that MM for venue fee. :^)
Dacidbro Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 You sure you can take it? He knocked you out at CUT after all. ;d
Tronzilla666 Posted November 21, 2009 Author Posted November 21, 2009 HAHA I am not being greedy at all in any way. I am not trying to be a jew about this to get money from people. I freaking love the community and I did say I would do hangouts as well which will be free. Just I want to host a tournament to see how this goes. I may not look like I am jew but I am.
dreamskep Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 This thread is cuhrayzee. Tron, do what you feel in your heart is right; love thy Arakune. But really, I think something like simply asking for people to pitch in for pizza or whatever wouldn't be much of a problem.
Mike Z Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I am not trying to be a jew about this to get money from people.I'm Jewish, and like I said - nobody pays me. I'm also not attending. I suggest everyone else go, though. Should be fun! If you're not trying to get money from people, why are you spending pages on here arguing about the fee instead of just getting rid of it? QED. (If you're really ordering food beforehand, it's not too hard to change the terms to "venue fee will be your fraction of the food costs which I promise I'm not lying about, I'll show you receipts to prove it, please believe me please".) See you at FFA - whose venue fee is at least partially justified by the fact that we would have been paying 50 cents a game to go there...and is still less than yours.
Tronzilla666 Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Wow Mike if you don't want to go then don't. Apparently you think it is ridiculous of me making some money in return while supplying pizza for when you pay for the venue fee. I have had enough of this shit so if you are going to be a baby and not spend the extra venue fee or bring a TV or system and pay the $2 then sorry if it is a hassle for you. If people bring TV's and systems they will only have to pay an extra $2 instead of 5.
Dacidbro Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 You're blowing this way out of proportion. Calm down.
Hellfromabove Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I was really trying to hold back from replying in this thread any further but it's kinda getting way out of proportion. The final say is up to Tron since it's his place but venue fee for coming over to your house is just not the way to go dude. You're supposed to have people over for fun and not gain. Think of it as you are inviting your friend over to watch a movie, are you gonna charge him to be at your place? I understand that you want to get pizza for everyone etc. Best way to go about that is not have a venue fee in the first place and when the time comes to order food ask who wants to chip in for pizza. That way whoever wants pizza will pay but whoever wants to go out and get food can. Most of these tournaments you attend take a loss. No one ever charges for venue at their own place and if they do it usually to cover something the person would want or gain from it. If it's not in everyone's favor you should not charge. -Tha Hindu
xxneoCloudxx Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 i will be attemding with 4 friends, 1 of them wont be playing though. does he still have to pay the venue? you also said you would have drinks, what kind? i will be more than happy to help make beer runs. also i dont know if youre making up a roster or brackets, but i will be playing ragna and 2 of my friends play jin, one plays noel :vbang:
IkeTakeda Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Drew drew didn't I drive all the way to SCV to see you <3
Tronzilla666 Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Since people are complaining about the venue fee and not considering coming to it because of this I have decided to make it free so people will stop complaining. I realized I like the community a lot so don't want to scare people off with the venue fee. Mike sorry if I was being a bit out of line and wish I could have done better against you at FFA yesterday but I was really not feeling well but I put in my all I could.
