kousaka Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 if they're punishing 6a>5d alot (punishable on reaction really) you'll have to mix it up with 6a>2b and 6a>jC 6a>2b should work against tager sledge, bang 2d, etc 6a>jC is more situational but can net a FC.. haku 2d, rachel 2c(chair thing?)
Senkei Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Yeah I did mix it up and he just blocked it all lol. I think he maybe got hit by my curse j.C mix-up 2-3 times out of 6 matches. He was really on point and threw me around like a rang doll whenever I was magnetized. It was down to the wire, i was on the losers side of grand finals so it was a very up hill battle.
LordSpectreX Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Did you try 2CFC spam? Seriously, ever since I learnt the DiveLoop, Tagers have been so free.
Skye Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 Did you try 2CFC spam? Seriously, ever since I learnt the DiveLoop, Tagers have been so free. That's not so free offline. If Tager blocks 2C, that's a 360b. Senkei, when Tager blocks mixups like a pro, then you gotta get random. You can also rush Tager down with IAD j.4b strings, do it fast enough than Tager can collider or 2C, he'll get hit, which can go straight into 5D on CH (if the chances stay true that Tager is crouching). The person I face most often offline is a Tager, who knows how to block. Cursing him is a matter of zoning and catching his AA attempts, once he's cursed you can only mix him up, if you can't, go for primers or Sledge bait. Try conditioning him into blocking high then tag him low. Turn invisible. Just trying to brainstrom, I know the stress of trying to get damage on a good Tager.
LordSpectreX Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 That's not so free offline. If Tager blocks 2C, that's a 360b. I don't do random 2Cs Skye, give me some credit.>_>
Skye Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 I don't do random 2Cs Skye, give me some credit.>_> Never said you do random 2Cs, I was simply saying that 2C isn't as free offline, against good Tagers.
LordSpectreX Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 So...How does Tager get to you without Sledging, 2Ding, Spark Bolt + 5D, or hjC?
Skye Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 He doesn't. But Tager does have ways to bait a 2C.
Senkei Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I only 2C when Tager is cursed. He played really well though. I'm not saying he completely raped me it was pretty even, he just got to 3 wins before me lol. He always picked the perfect opportunities to mag me which was really annoying I can dive loop Tager in my sleep, just getting the hits in were hard. You can't dive loop him if he doesn't get hit by anything. I'm going to work on my pre-curse mix-up game for Tager. Thanks for the heads up Skye.
Senkei Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 ustream.tv/channel/iplaywinner top 6 BBCS at expcon CEO!!!! see arakune play(me)
kousaka Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 i only saw the grand final(?) of arakune vs mu.. i haven't fought any mu's since i dont' play on console much but there's a bunch of C normals that are 2C punishable on IB and some on regular block from my initial testing... i know there isn't any frame data out on mu but if you deal with mu alot it might be wise to test them out in training mode overall your arakune pre curse game is there, movement is solid but curse pressure needs work -it's predictable at times with overuse of 3a>3a>6a bug and a bit random and out of control with j6a crossup 6a bug(?) -when your closer to the wall you have to do 3a>3a>3a>6a bug -you used 5c to compensate for mu's weird hitbox for D bug up but it messed things up because 5c is slow and sometimes hits at the same time as D bug up resulting in you rushing the wheel and your timing.. use walk up 1b before the D bug up.. you wont' feel as rushed giving you time to jump straight up and keep your timing instead of TK wheel -if you hit with 3a>3a>6a bug once but miss the confirm directly into a combo like 5CD and continued with a second set of 3a>3a>6a bug don't confirm into a combo anyway.. all those 2a's will prorate so much that the D bug to go into loops won't even combo.. you should go for a reset
Senkei Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 lol yeah im usually better with with combos on her but that TV actually did lag a bit and i had some real problems landing and timing my jc mixups. Thanks for the info tho!!
Senkei Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 EXPcon Matches #1:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq3LKk3SSsk Senkei(AR) vs Hisen Jo(MK, TA) That Taokaka match up is weird!?! I don't ever play it so it's sloppy as hell. Also i think i missed every follow up from a hit 6a-5d due to the laggyness EXPcon Matches #2 :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcgEHQxqGHM Senkei(AR) vs Mystic (HK) (starts @ 8mins) This match is good but very long. I really had to pull out my bag of tricks to get him cursed.
Skye Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 No comment on Makoto or Tao, you did pretty good there, well--you could have been a bit more aggressive on Makoto.... But Hakumen; Your evasion wasn't really sufficient, he 2C'd you a lot, Arakune shouldn't be getting 2C'd at all, I recommend more super jump > double jumps. Also some j.6x couldn't hurt, it's good for throwing your opponent off balance, especially when they can't run. Don't get in the habit of doing 6a > 5d on block, it's more unsafe than people tend to think, and once people figure out that 1 frame window of defense, characters like Hakumen, Ragna, Jin, any character with a 1 frame invul reversal can got out of that easy, for Hakumen, you really have to focus on your gimmicks, you got tick grabbed too much as well, experiment with 214s to bait 2C or other attacks, don't cloud so liberally midscreen/close range, if the Hakumen was better you would have ate a FC combo (or another 2C), your dive loops were good, but you didn't get the horizontal adjustments right, try using j.b to help center them for the j.c if they're too far away. Lastly, be a bit more defensive, his j.c is super easy to IB and would have put you in many an advantage if you blocked them more. Good show.
Senkei Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Yeah I was trying to adjust to his jumping attacks mid-match since I don't really have much Hakumen experience. Thanks for the tips though!! There is another tourney on sunday that hopefully will be recorded so i'll have some more matches to show.
Abyss Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I don't agree for be more agressive against Makoto. Her pressing can be really annoying, because she had a lot of prio (maybe it's just me, but i can't 5A even after IBing 3-4 hit of her press, and really often i must wait the end for backdash or doing something, maybe it's just because i don't do it at the right moment). And i've already get my J5B countered by her 5A >> Senkei, for Haku-men i think you must.. wait. Yeah, it can seems stupid, but the Haku-men IAD you a lot, and he can do that because you don't Airdash barriere cancel just for adjust the spacing. And after getting one or two anti-air, he won't do it so often and let you put some cloud. Like Skye, Good show =3
ZONG_one Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 He's not my main or anything, but tell me how much I suck at this matchup and how to be better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3BSyt_3hwg Skip Carl match because he's not Arakune. :P And here's part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLZTn1qcyYc&feature=related
Skye Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 You played solid vs Hazama, I'd recommend using 6d more fullscreen, it's a good anti entry shield.
ZONG_one Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Yeah, I've learned that since then. I try to use it now to get a cloud out behind it. Good strat? That matchup annoys me. D: Rewatching it I used too much barrier as well.
Skye Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 I always find time to bell and cloud vs Hazama, I thought I just wasn't playing against good players to why I got away with it.
ZONG_one Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I just think if you space right, bell will take the chain and let you get cloud out.
Senkei Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 stop doing jc-214c in your elevator combos. Using just j214c into walk up 5c does wayy better damage and knocks them closer to the ground. Also why don't you do the 2 5c's in the corner? Thats a good amount of damage being missed. Now Hazama specific don't tech roll!!! I know he never really punished anything but thats hotenjinville. Besides that you played it pretty solid, you could also tell that Hazama wasn't familiar with fighting against Arakune due to his bursting patterns and zoning.
InspectorOda Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Jayoku option select will always beat tech rolling 100% of the time. 5 frame startup for Jayoku > 18 frames until able to barrier guard after tech roll. Don't tech roll against Hazama, he has enough time to attempt to catch one with 2A/option select Jayoku and still meaty you after. For those who don't know, option select Jayoku is 214214AB in the corner. But this isn't the Hazama boards, so it doesn't really matter does it.
