I can't imagine this being at all in arakune's favor for the same reason lambda/nu beats him...stay away from arakune's j.D and air throw...I don't think there's much else to worry about till you get cursed edited for clarity (specifying to stay away from ara's j.D, not hazama's XD)

hazama's D is really good against arakune. It stops arakune's 6D (or bell bug ) and arakunes is gonna have to close in on you so you can have somewhat of an advantage with zoning out the arakune.

Hazama's Drive chains aren't just good, they're damn near godlike against arakune. No long range pokes for the blob, and don't even get me started about the nice anti-air that Haz has up close..... The worst that you have to worry about is a missed poke to Arakune landing the j.4B pressure or an overhead to combo or his j.C or 2C fatal counters. The fact that they changed his j.D to not trade on hit and not hit low made Arakune fairly crappy in zone vs zone matchups. and as always, be afraid of the airthrow to 100% curse, cause that usually means you're eating about 6~9k or some really really mean crossups into those combos

Look, this match isn't enjoyable AT ALL.

I was looking for a way to punish him when setting a cloud and air teleporting behind you. I tried chains but they seemed to miss all the time...

Is there anyone who regularly plays good Ara's that can give me pointers?

Just zone. :V

As in, abuse the chains, don't fly in randomly ever (cloud will fudge you up), wait for him to come to you and then punish. You have better normals (IMO).

Yeah, I understand the basic concept of what you have to do against Ara, but when they set a homing cloud and teleport behind me, it really throws me off... I want to be able to punish those teleports like I used to be able to with Rachel (j.C eheheheh)

I just had a thought, maybe a dash > 2C might work... or a dash 4/2D. hmmmm.

If he does the teleport, you have some time to hit him to avoid the cloud. If he teleports while you're at the other side of the screen, you could probably just jump up and do something, like a grab or j.C or something.

Gonna be playing against an Ara player tonight. Will try the match-up some more and post my findings/thoughts

Edit: Played the matches and found that Ara is vulnerable for a few frames after the teleport, you can punish with sj.B dj.C x n xx j.214B

Played against Dabit and another Arakune at NCI. You want to be reaaaallyy far away from him in this matchup. He can't do anything about your chains at that distance plus it'll punish any 6D attempts since his hitbox is pretty big. Midrange is a little tricky since he can use 6D or 6B (I think it's 6B. The little teleport that hits low) as a chain cancel punish. If you see him throw out a cloud, you should throw out a chain since he has forced recovery when he lands and you might be able to catch him if you're fast enough. 214D~B is fast enough to catch the teleport if he tries to get in that way.

During curse, uh... legit options are block, CA, and cry. Curse is scary. QQ

This match is one giant zone fest until you get knockdown. Watch out for reversal super on wakeup though. Backdash is also an option since it's invincible I think, though I'm not entirely sure what its properties are.

Be very careful using 5D. The active frames of Arakune's 2C go right under it. If he does it, for the love of god, press B to get yourself away ASAP.

What I dislike most about this match-up is that it is so rare you actually come across an arakune at all, nevermind one that knows what they are doing.

I'd say punish his air specials with chains, watch out for j.4B, 5C and 2C and just stay the fuck away until you get a hitconfirm chain. Got trampled by a good Ara the other night because I was too impatient, curse is just awful.

I find this matchup to be in Hazama's favor for the most part. It really is a zoning competition until you get cursed, or Arakune gets knocked down/Jayoku'd. I've faced some pretty decent Arakune's, and I find the best strategy is to keep your chains on him at all times. By doing so, you prevent him from forming clouds, and using his many curse shenanigans.

If you do manage to get cursed, which you should avoid at all costs. IB > Jayoku works best. If you can't manage that I recommend waiting for an opening and going for it. Decent Arakunes won't give you a chance to play offensively when you're cursed.

This matchup is easy as hell...just stay away from Arakune and zone him with chains. He warps to you? j.DD later bro.

Or you jump back and air grab him for a combo.
