I end up spamming 214D~B for this because I can't really catch her when she's doing her crazy drives. Any tips on how to approach this one?

Granted, I'm not very familiar with this matchup, but this seems like one where you'd have to really practice your IB's and reversals. An experienced Tao can easily bait 214D~B with her drive cancels, so doing that ad nauseum is pretty dangerous.

Ugh, I am NOT looking forward to dealing with that damnable taunt-loop once this game comes out stateside... Does Hazama's chain kill her bowling ball?

Well that's good to know ^^;; I wasn't sure if the bowling ball was hefty like Jin's EX projectile or not... It seems to me that the main goal against Tao is to bat her away when she tries to close in on you and go in for combos when you see an opening (whether it's 5D, j.6D, an AA, or w/e) Tao players tend to go a little crazy when they're up close on the offensive (at least to my experience) so make sure you control as much of the match's tempo and spacing as you can...

Ok my problem with this one is the fact that I can't seem to get out taos pressure and I kinda just sit there until I can IB JAYOKU but relying isn't safe at all. any ideas?

ok ill give that a try, I guess something about taos speed just makes me afraid to stop blocking.

It is a little daunting at first. If you're not sure where to break out, you can always look at her frame data.

I beat a couple of Taos spamming 214D~B XD

When Tao sees you using Ouroboros she will just jump and try to use her drive on you and when better than Rising Fang to own the heck out of her.

A lot of reversals going on in this matchup. Also, Tao players tend to overestimate their mobility (at least when against Hazama) and love jumping around. This makes 6D/4D chains very easy to predict.

A well timed 214D~B can net you good damage, especially on CH. Experienced Tao's will be aware of this, and look for an opening.

Chasing her is asking for trouble, so don't, remember that she needs to come to you for damage.

If Tao goes for that 2D~cancel j.C cross-up, you can IB the j.C into Jayoku.

This was my first match-up online. I was Haz, I won.

Most of the combos I saw were air-to-ground, so relying on 6D and 623D got me through.

How does everyone go about this match up?

The strategy I found to work best is to just pin her down and not let her escape, the problem is to indeed pin her down :v:

I've also found that j.B seems to be a great normal to meet Tao in the air.

Therefore: what's the best way to fight her mid range/full screen?

She's just so fast that trying to catch her with chains just does not seem to cut it~

I try to rarely stick out chains against Tao. Her movement is too good and can punish you hard for avoiding it. Stick them out here and there to keep her honest though.

I mostly try to just hop around with j.B and try to make her run into it. Sometimes j.A if she's really close.

I've had a fairly decent amount of luck just throwing out 5C from full screen against weaker Taos online. With it's big hitbox and active frames, they usually come flying into it. It's got long recovery but I don't know if she can punish it by drive canceling.
