Chun Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 To be fair, SVGL has always been really supportive of our events in the past. I don't think it's right to say anything negative about their own business timing prospects; after all, we don't pay SVGL a dime when these events are run. Jason told me that the tourney is run for free because he makes enough from us playing on the cabinet in the first place, and that's why it's a relatively balanced relationship. He was also there the same day when Nu was unlocked, and orders the newest games in the quickest time possible, and also fixed the buttons as soon as we mentioned them. Sure, we could move to Milpitas Golfland for some summer venues, but otherwise those of you who have this preconception it is a right as arcade customers to run these tournaments every month for free through event mode, are absolutely mad. SVGL has been more than generous to our whimsical tournament schedule for the past year, without charging a single dime for the room and other services. Not attacking anyone, just saying for the sake of the negativity towards SVGL. ~Chun

It is usually customary to call any cat who is brought into a house to hunt them horrible names because of this. Rin obviously doesn't have such a name, so the luck of the rat has ABANDONED YOU!

As we said before, we're thinking of combining the singles/doubles into NorCal Install, starting August.

Update: Just got off the phone with Jason, the manager. He said he wasn't displeased (I asked if he was displeased with the tournaments, but he said he wasn't); the main issue was that it gets really busy during the summer since school is out, and having ten to sixteen people fill up parking spaces on a Saturday night for a free tournament isn't ideal for business. After talking about it to him, he pretty much gave us better days to run tournaments during the summer (general summer months are June through August): - Monday through Thurdsay: OKAY - Friday: MAYBE - Saturday and Sunday: NO That said, I asked him about the singles tournament this Saturday (the 26th), and although he seemed to be hesitant at first, he said it should be okay to run the tournament after I assured him that it was our last tournament until school starts again. I didn't want to inform him that we might end up switching venues when the console version comes out, but we can address that once the actual console version is released. So in case there is no confusion: THE SINGLES TOURNAMENT, SATURDAY THE 26TH, IS STILL SCHEDULED AS PLANNED. IF YOU HAD PLANNED ON ATTENDING THE TOURNAMENT ON THE 26TH, PLEASE COME AND PARTICIPATE BECAUSE THE TOURNAMENT IS STILL SCHEDULED TO HAPPEN. SIGN UPS START AT 5 PM, TOURNAMENT STARTS AT 6 PM. Going to try to make a flier tonight and hopefully have it posted up on by Monday. Thoughts? Opinions?

While we we're there he seemed pretty peeved, so I'm glad you called him up personally about that. I think I can actually make this one if I hurry out of work, so maybe last season recordings can be done. Yea that sounds good. It'll be good to have one last one there.
