Hiago, what buttons did you use for your stick?

@ Endo : Those are Seimitsu PS-14 KNs. Also looks like a Seimitsu LS-32 stick is in there too.

Exactly.

Hrmmm... Not sure why, but I remember posting this a while back, but can't find it. Oh well, here is my TE with Noel on it. Enjoy.

I find it funny that I own a 2 sticks, one with Sanwa buttons and a Seimitsu stick, while my other one has Seimitsu buttons and a Sanwa stick.

That is quite a revealing stick.

I ordered Seimitsu buttons, but they aren't the transparent ones. If I like these buttons I might order some clear purple ones for a new stick.

How do you guys make your own arcade stick..... you use some kinds of tools to make it or order in web.... cause i want 1 arcade stick with blazblue art in it but the official 1 look kinda bad..... if you order by web can you give me a link ? :D

Wait...make your own stick? You talking custom build or just art? I'm pretty sure you just mean art...

Anyways, art mods are easy if you pick a stick specifically to mod, and TEs are especially easy, if thats what you're planning on getting. You don't have to get the official BB one since you're just gonna change the art anyways. Here: http://shoryuken.com/f177/how-add-custom-art-your-te-fightstick-swap-simple-options-186905/

Well it's rather up to you and the amount of money you wish to spend. Most people go for a cheap stick, then gut the frame, filling the insides with the higher quality parts of their choice, then print out custom art to label the outside with.

all you need to know...

Let me just iterate that making your own stick is NOT CHEAPER THAN BUYING A MASS PRODUCED STICK

Yes the TE costs 150 bucks (or sometimes 100 if you catch the plethora of sales on the madcatz store) but think about what goes into that. Its around 3-4 USD per 30mm button and 2-3 for each 24mm button. A JLF with a balltop now costs 25-30 usd now. so that comes up to around 60 dollars for just parts alone. The pcb of a generic controller or a custom pcb that you could use comes up to anywhere between 25-50 dollars. That alone sets you back around $110 for parts. And for a wooden case, that would come up to around 30-50-ish in materials. So all in all you're already past the price range of a TE, (not even calculating labour you'll put in).

Unless you have all of the tools, materials and skills (both woodworking and electronic) beforehand. You'll need a drill (better yet a drill press and a handheld drill) a hand saw (better yet a table saw/circular saw with a straight edge guide) sandpaper (or an automatic hand sander with varying grades of sandpaper grit ranging from 250 - 1000 or the highest you can get) , drill bits, forstner bits, wood glue, primer, paint and clear/finishing coat or prestain, wood stain and finishing coat. Some things that will make your sticks extra sexy a FUCKING ROUTER. Routing your edges result in a really really nice edging for your joysticks. Making your own joystick is a lot of work. It took me about 2 months on my own to make my magi, http://www.joystickvault.com/showgallery.php?cat=1038&ppuser=3189 and a lot of elbow grease to make a few more (which are nicer than the magi now to say the least). That's just for the case alone, you'd also have to padhack and do wiring which involves a basic knowledge of soldering and wiring.

tl;dr - making joysticks is an expensive thing and unless you're gonna churn out case after case and joystick after joystick to sell, its not going to be worth it to make your own joysticks

It can be cheaper. I'm currently making one, costs will be arround 70$... With stick instead of buttons, arround 85$.

You don't have to buy a drill or other tools. You can always take it somewhere, to people whose job is to drill, cut etc... Wood and all work around it ended at 30$.

A sneak peek, almost done :)

That's still in parts alone only, there's still cost of your wires, quick disconnects, and soldering tools if you're gonna padhack and maybe a multimeter just to double check. Last thing you want is to cross your power and your ground and have it end up shorting your circuit board and your console (which after that moment may go poof). Also don't forget about finishing that case. Not much of a fan of keysticks but that case won't look half bad with matte black

You can find PSD templates to make your art, get a plexi and get your art printed and cut instead of doing it yourself here: http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/index.cfm?loc=

As for finding art, just dig around the internet. You can also try danbooru but the resolution of images there isn't always that good.

Thats super nice. :kitty: Though I can't image playing with the buttons instead of a stick, but then again I never did play any games on a PC.

@ mr. mortified:

buttons (6 x obsf24 + 8 x obsf30) - 26$

material (wood, plexi, artwork, painting) - 35$

pcb - 15$

Total: 76$

With joystick instead of four buttons it gets around 80-85$. I know it is more expensive than that, but it's cheaper to make one big square hole than four circle holes...

Yeah, it is possible :)

@Solar Misae: I've been playing on keyboard since I got into gaming (ok, I had snes, but I got into gaming seriously when I got PC). I don't want to pend time learning to play on a stick since I can do all BB/GG/SF stuff on keyboard perfectly fine and I'm used to it. I can play very good with C.Viper on keyboard, all her tk cancels, feints and combos and you can't get much harder than that ;)
