sakabato24 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Was going to help my friend with cutting and putting on the art for him, and this is what I found. Looks like people at MadCatz were bored... Finished product. PS-14 Gs and da Seimitsu Purple ball-top.
Andru Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 When you guys make the art in PS, do you just get high-res renders and stocks and such? I feel like the stick would look blurry/garbage if I just blew up lower res art.

Dorro Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 After working with the Type-B TE template, this is what I was able to come up with. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e64/yoshara111/BBType-Z.png If I were to ever get a customizable (or, more easily customizable) stick I would want to use this as the art. So awesome <3

I used some lower res art, but if you don't blow it up to cover the entire piece it doesn't really look terrible, could look sharper but you work with what you got at the end of the day.
ThunderboltZ28 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I'm not exactly sure what is a high or low res image. Do you think this would come out blurry if I tried to print it out? http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k191/thunderbolt101/NolayersNagase.png
FunkyP Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 yes that pic is already low res enough on my monitor, printing it out would degrade the quality even further. Generally you want to print in 300dpi. To give you an idea of that resolution, when you make art and its the same size on your screen as it is printed thats 96dpi. 300dpi is several times sharper and clearer printed.
ThunderboltZ28 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 So I would need to find a 300dpi image of Nagase or is there something I can do to change it? This is my first time using Gimp.
C0R Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 You can resize any image into print-oriented pixel ratios, if you have an image you want to use already, I could resize it for you. But if the resolution is too low to begin with, even the advanced resizing tools will come out blurry in the end.

This is my first time using Gimp. 300dpi is just the resolution you'll be working with, the image can be whatever resolution as long as the final product will come out clear on a 300dpi canvas.
C0R Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 ThunderboltZ28 http://www.4shared.com/photo/BRm8pP4n/NolayersNagase.html Resize - 300dpi, 3198 x 2,222 It's relatively clear, but that's about as good as that image can be resized without some more extensive work.

C0R Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Well I'll be damned. Try it now, fixed it, works for me.
ThunderboltZ28 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 It worked this time. Thanks. So that's about as good as its going to get? Is it okay now or just a lost cause?
C0R Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 It's by no means bad, but if you're willing to wait a few hours I could definitely improve the overall image quality and optimize it for print. But it's pretty good. You could totally print that, if you matched it with the size of your stick and all.
ThunderboltZ28 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 If you wouldn't mind I would definitely appreciate it. Its for a Madcatz SE. I used the template from the SRK TE/SE thread, but I read that they aren't 100% accurate.
C0R Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I'll do a little research. As for the actual work, it's no bother at all. I'll start sometime after I get out of my courses, should be done by this time tomorrow at the latest.
PlasticChicken Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 My IIDX controller My HRAP3 Uploaded with ImageShack.us Lazily taken with my camera phone. It doesn't do either of my controllers any justice. I'll try to get better pics later.
darkblade77 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Standard Edition mod I did for a friend using sesame's artwork of Ookami in her thread. Apologies for the blurry cam shots; I just snapped a few quick pictures with my phone before I sent it to him. I should have a clearer shot or two from him in a bit. http://strikers2001.homestead.com/files/2010-10-16_19.23.35.jpg http://strikers2001.homestead.com/files/2010-10-16_19.23.21.jpg http://strikers2001.homestead.com/files/2010-10-16_19.22.59.jpg Did not know lamilabel adhesive stayed on hard the way it does, which led to the screw holes because peeling it back was impossible outside of replacing the whole thing. Will try to keep that in mind next time... EDIT: Two clearer pictures. Size/resolution are kinda big, so I put a smaller version at the top. http://strikers2001.homestead.com/files/IMG_20101021_201246.jpg http://strikers2001.homestead.com/files/IMG_20101021_201303.jpg
sakabato24 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 @ PlasticChicken : Nice DJ DAO. I wanna play some IIDX Sirius now.
