TaoFTW Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 So, a few guys from Oregon, including myself, are going to make it down for this too. Hype! Wait what? Vet coast is joining in this hype? This is an amazing thing for NorCal. :3
ehuangsan Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 If someone will kindly provide a Sega Genesis, I will bring Shaq-Fu along with a few other goodies...
[TRM]tenkai-45i[xTF] Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Wait what? Vet coast is joining in this hype? This is an amazing thing for NorCal. :3 I think Oregon is the neutral territory between NorCal and Vet Coast. But perhaps we can convince them to join our side!
TaoFTW Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 If someone will kindly provide a Sega Genesis, I will bring Shaq-Fu along with a few other goodies... Considering how casual setups didn't hinder the tournament, I empower you all to bring your extra setups for random goodies... This brings up an important point; who is bringing setups? I'm looking for, a minimum, of 5 TVs/ps2s. 2 for MBAA and 2 for GGAC + 1 backup. Everything else is all casual stations. I think Oregon is the neutral territory between NorCal and Vet Coast. But perhaps we can convince them to join our side! I say we transform them into furries. Mr. Sprt would be most pleased.
Yggjrasil Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 my roommate has a Ps2 with GGXXAC+ and I can bring down my TV from our room so thats a given set-up.
Spirit Juice Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 You guys forget I can do horrible, nasty things to all of you with my newly acquired admin powers.
Yggjrasil Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 You guys forget I can do horrible, nasty things to all of you with my newly acquired admin powers. oh you.
OrionXElite Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 As far as I'm concerned, we'll all help support you to play the game AND have fun. You are, also, not obligated to play in the tournament, but you're welcome to spectate. I will admit that there is a steep learning curve to GG, or at least steeper than BB, but - hell - we've all gone through it and know what it feels like... ...and we still drop combos! The reality is that we know this game isn't a walk in the park, but it gets really, REALLY, fun. Btw I live in Cupertino. :3 Well yes I am all for the support but sadly anxiety issues still get to me sometimes. I suppose an easy way would be to try and actually talk to everyone at things like arcade mania and ranbats at SVGL...I usually need a good nudge or 2 though. I know I look like a loner, but thats just a defence mechanism of mine. And as for GG, well I'm gonna start practicing a little but everyday starting tonight. I just hope my learning skills in BB can translate at least somewhat into GG. I seriously learned a BnB for Ragna and Jin in CT by just seeing it and replicating it on my first try. I can tell the learning curve is very steep though so I will need a little time to get ready. So if I feel ready, I'll go to the next one. And as I've stated before, if I go, I will offer rides to 2 people and can bring any necessary setups. People will have to enlighten me though... EDIT: Also, would it be advised that I go and find a copy of AC? The only version of the game I have is Reload on my 360 so I dunno how much difference there is aside from Order Sol I think. Should I go and find AC? What system was it on anyway???
Dakanya Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 uhh yeah you should get GGAC. it's for the PS2.
TaoFTW Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Yeah, I remember seeing a used copy at Gamestop for $5.
Meowmix Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Would it be possible for me to score a ride with someone for the ranbat?
OrionXElite Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Yeah, I remember seeing a used copy at Gamestop for $5. Really? which Gamestop? Is it one of the ones near SVGL? Cause I looked it up on their site and they had the closest ones having the game being out near MGL. I won't mind going there for it since I have to go that way anyway but still if they have it at the one near De Anza or by San Tomas, I'd be much better off.

It was the one on De Anza, but that was over a year ago.
Dakanya Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Finding a copy of GGAC should be pretty cheap and the most it should be is like $20 right?
OrionXElite Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Yeah the site said $18 for used, $20 for new. I like to be sure my shit works when I buy it so I'm probably gonna buy new but that means I'm gonna have actually go to the damn store to buy it cause apperently you can't buy a new copy online, only a used one...doesn't make any damn sense! So I'll be hunting that down today and I should be playing it tonight hopefully. Wish I had the money to buy a damn stick for my PS2 though, I hate playing fighting games other than Super Smash on pad

OrionXElite Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 do you have a te? if so, throwing a ps1 pcb in there is relatively easy. I wish I did. I don't even have a stick for any of my consoles. I play CT on pad at home and I play CT on stick at my friend's house. Pad cramps my hand though. Looks like I'm gonna be saving up some money for a new stick...
TaoFTW Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Alright guys, the time is coming for our Ranbat. Here's a checklist of all the equipment we have so far. 0 TVs 2 PS2 GGAC setups 0 MBAA setups 1 Surge protector And, also, I found this thread in the SRK forums. http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=226987&p=8445711#post8445711 If you want to see NorCal get some more GGAC action, then I suggest you cross your fingers and POST YOUR ARSE OFF!
Dakanya Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 For MBAA setups, Tsubasa posted on Meltybread that he would be bringing the one he brought last time, so we have one full setup for MBAA confirmed right now. I should state that yes we will need at least one more TV than last time since that big JVC TV was Derrick's. Also the GGAC tourny at SJSU will be on their cab with American sticks... and wow $10 per game is a lot.
OrionXElite Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 While I can't bring a TV, I can bring a PS2 and GGAC if needed. I'm amazed my PS2 is still working though, I've been running that thing hard for over 6 years I think. But I know it works and I will have GGAC by then. Whether its AC+ or not is a different story. Does it really matter which one? I still haven't bought it yet but I'm gonna go find it either tomorrow or saturday. Side question for Tao: Assuming nothing comes up, I WILL be going to the ranbat. I was thinking of bringing a few cases of water for people to share. Unless someone else was already planning on bringing that then I'll bring something else. But if I do bring that, Should I shoot for conveinence with bottled water or should I shoot for Eco-Friendly and bring jugs of water and paper cups??? Frankly, I don't mind either way I will just go with whatever everyone else wants.
Dakanya Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 As long as you're using a US version of GGAC, I don't think it should matter. (early JP version has double clean hit Sol sidewinder bug)
