OrionXElite Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Or you could, you know, just be discreet. If you charge entry after the fact, some people will duck it. Hes got a point. It would be best to charge the fee at the door and just consider it a venue fee and just make the ranbat "for fun" and give the prize money away after at dinner or under the table before everyone leaves. You certainly can't wait till after the thing is done to get the entry fees or else you could have a case of people running like hell in which case it would look much more suspicious on our part.
Honnou Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 So it seems I am bringing my TV too, as well as a power supply (big type, around 8 slots) and the Ps2/games i mentioned before... now if i only didn't need someone to spot me entry fee (NO CASH )
TaoFTW Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 I don't get paid until next week. Unless my friend pays me back $30, I can only CREDIT INSTALL!! Edit: I'm making the ranbat setup right now with all the little details (including parking).

TaoFTW Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 If possible could you provide a map of the campus? I will add everything by today...For now, just look at the ranbat setup.
KatanaDash Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Rod I got your entry fee if you want, but if you win you gotta pay me back :-P Also this is looking more legit now, I was worried for a second this wouldn't work out. Good job John and thank you to GGJ If I'm giving you a ride, pm me by tomorrow night please, and include a cell phone number so I can call you if something comes up or I can't find you. No last second bullshit. K thx
TaoFTW Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Parking Setup: For those of you that don't know, you cannot park in any other area other than the visitor parking lot. The RAs and local students say that it's 'okay' to park there, but - outside of the visitor lot - we cannot guarantee that you'll get a ticket or whatnot. Edit: VERY IMPORTANT! When you enter Taylor hall, you need to sign in your NAME upon the guest check-in sheet and WHOM you're visiting (in this case, it's Ray). If you do not sign in, I cannot guarantee your stay here in Fremont. >:3 Remember, upon entering the venue, I implore you to practice common sense! Don't be a douchebag, don't be a litter freak, vandalize property, steal equipment, and anything else that can constitute gambling. I don't have the patience to deal with that crap and neither should you. So let's have a nice clean fight. >:3 Edit2: Unlike last time, I'm not bringing snacks n' such. Simply put, I didn't get my pay check yet so I have no moniez! D: Therefore, I'm leaving refreshments up to you guys. If you want to be a saint, then I ask that you can bring in whatever munchies you want. OrionXElite is being an awesome guy and bringing a case of WATER BOTTOS. Thanks! I encourage everyone else to do the same.
TaoFTW Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Great, GREAT, news guys! The ranbat is now 100% fully functional and ready to go. Everything you need to know (from parking to carpooling to refreshments to setups) will be answered in our event thread. I have a favor to ask here from anyone who knows how to split cables n' such. I want to showcase the top 8 from MBAA/GGAC on the large screen HDTV. Of course, we're not going to run the tournament on that TV, but I want to split it between the tube TV and the HDTV. Doing so will allow you to watch matches anywhere within the room. Will anybody be able to lend equipment or know how to follow up on this task? If so, then can I count on you bringing it?

I have an amplified splitter that does composite and S-video that I am bringing as part of my recording setup, my priority is capturing all of the MBAA tourney matches but it can be used for whatever once they are concluded. I have a bunch of the necessary male to male cables as well but not all of them are very long so that might cause some problems.
TaoFTW Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Yeah, they would have to be, at least, 3'. D: Can anyone else take a stab at this?
OrionXElite Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I just had a thought about parking. I can't tell from looking at any of the maps but is parking there like parking at De Anza? By that I mean that if you don't have a semester permit or park in the visitor sections, can you go and just buy a day permit for like $2 and park wherever? I would imagine that there would be something like that unless the school just gives all students parking permits and don't expect you to buy one seperately.
qwerty Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 i could go run and grab a vga splitter at a radio shack or something if you want to run top 8 on my setup does mbaa support progressive scan?
TaoFTW Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 So could we stream and split the output between a computer, TV and hdtv?
OrionXElite Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Umm bad news...Something is wrong with my PS2. The disk drive isn't working. So unless someone can help me figure out whats wrong with it, I have to opt out my setup. I'm not sure why the disk drive isn't turning. I'm assuming the damn thing may have finally crapped out. The system stills turns on and works, but the disk will not spin. So if that gets fixed, I'll still bring it. If I can't fix it, I'll still go as a spectator and bring water for everyone. So anyone wanna take a whack at what might be wrong? I'm not a techie kind of person so I wouldn't even know where to start...Sorry
Honnou Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 1 question: How many people are driving to Fremont from San Francisco (or another place near a bart station)? Digital Watches is coming with company to my house tonight (it might be 3 or 2 of them, one was feeling sick), so I'm wondering the best way for everyone to arrive. If Kijiyama takes me and Tenkai, can 2 more people (at most?) fit in the back? I know tenkai doesn't take up that much space...
koogy Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 ;~; I wish I could show up to this. I wouldn't be able to show up until 5PM Saturday, even if I drove as fast as humanly possible after my work shift. :C
Ryohei Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 you coudl always sign up to visit me to i live in the same place. may i can bring down a set up if we need some just lemme know , also got a stick people can use, its a hori 2 custom pro with sanwa. Just dont break it or i will devour the soul of whoever does >: (. As for parking about peole still concerned, a raleys and safeway are nearby, as well as several other store outlets. if people want to go out and get food those stores are 5 minute walks away. We have a safeway/eraleys/mc donalds/burgerking/panda xpress/ sushi, little ceaswers, piza hut, and dominoes which does deals with devry students
Aurora Borealis Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 When you enter Taylor hall, you need to sign in your NAME upon the guest check-in sheet and WHOM you're visiting (in this case, it's Ray). If you do not sign in, I cannot guarantee your stay here in Fremont. >:3 How would we get inside the dorm in the first place? Over here at Berkeley the dorms are locked from the outside too, so I suppose we need some way to let someone know we're outside. For writing down who we're visiting, is just writing down Ray's first name fine? Maybe it'd be better if we knew his first and last name so that it doesn't seem like we're just randomly coming in. And does Ray have to be with us when we sign in?
Panel_0 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Hey ya, I need a ride there still. I live in Santa Clara or sunnyvale since I basically live right off of Lawerence expressway and that's the line between the two towns. Anyways, I anyone would be willing to give me a ride that would be awesome x3 thanks
Ryohei Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 on saturday the dorms wont be locked until 10pm i believe, when you enter in the dorms there will be a front desk where you sign in, i know ive never had full name problems, but if they ask, the mpr is right next to the front desk. and he doesn't have to be with you when you sign in, least ive never had that problem with my freinds.
TaoFTW Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 The RAs are aware that 40 people are coming to this gig; therefore, put your first and last name in the guest check in list and the person whom you are visiting - Ray or Ryohei. Nothing more and nothing less. The main entrance, to Taylor hall, is in front of the visitor parking. After checking in, turn right onto the hallway; the Multi Purpose Room is the first door on the right. In case we run out of parking space, we will go to safeway - buy something - then carpool back. I have a mandatory business meeting tomorrow, and busy up to my ass, so I cannot go early and setup. Thus, I implore you all to go early regardless of my absence. If you don't know how to setup the venue, then use the ranbat setup picture as a guideline. picture If you are going to be late, then call my cell phone. I know the following people will need carpooling: - Dakanya - Qwerty - Meowmix
Meowmix Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Panel_0 and meowmix, check your pms.... That made me giggle. I really need to grow up.
